Here's How Audra McDonald Reacted to Patti LuPone Saying She's ‘Not a Friend'
Audra McDonald has responded to Patti LuPone's recent disses.
Shortly after LuPone said that her fellow Broadway legend was 'not a friend,' citing a past 'rift' between them, McDonald told Gayle King for CBS Sunday Morning, 'If there's a rift between us, I don't know what it is.'

'That's something that you'd have to ask Patti about,' the Private Practice star continued. 'I haven't seen her in about 11 years, just because I've been busy, just with life and stuff. I don't know what rift she's talking about, you'd have to ask her.'
McDonald's response comes days after LuPone made her feelings quite clear in a New Yorker profile published Monday (May 26). The subject first came up as LuPone was recalling a kerfuffle with Broadway's Hell's Kitchen, which was located next door to her own Broadway play The Roommate. LuPone had asked Shubert Organization head Robert Wankel to step in after sound from the Alicia Keys-created musical kept bleeding over from their neighbors, after which Hell's Kitchen star Kecia Lewis posted a video on Instagram calling LuPone's actions 'bullying,' 'racially microaggressive' and 'rooted in privilege.'
When The New Yorker's Michael Schulman pointed out that McDonald had shown support for Lewis' video in the comments, LuPone replied, 'Exactly.'
'And I thought, You should know better,' LuPone continued at the time. 'That's typical of Audra. She's not a friend.'
That's when the publication noted that the two stage icons had previously 'had some long-ago rift,' about which LuPone didn't want to disclose details. When pressed for her review of McDonald's current portrayal of Rose in Gypsy on Broadway — a role LuPone played and won a Tony for in a 2008-09 revival — LuPone simply stared at the writer pointedly for 15 seconds.

Bad Bunny Says It Is Silly To Complain About His Job
It's fair to say that Bad Bunny is one of the hardest-working music artists in the game right now. Benito Antonio Martínez Ocasio went from the barrio to the Billboard charts, becoming one of the first Latin artists to sell out stadiums around the world, even breaking the record for most tickets ever sold in Spain (he's set to perform 12 shows there on his upcoming tour). In a June 18 interview with Variety, the Puerto Rican superstar spoke to his work ethic as a music artist and celebrity. When his comments went viral, the fans were eating it up just as much as his boricua beats. In the interview, discussing his upcoming residency and tour surrounding his sixth studio album, Debí Tirar Más Fotos, Benito got real about what's expected of him as he embarks on one of the biggest tours of his career. "At times, I do think, cabrón, what I'm signing up for is a lot," he said. For context, Benito is set to perform a 30-night residency at the Colseo de Puerto Rico in San Juan, not too far from where he grew up from July 11 to Sept. 14, and then he's going on a 56-date world stadium tour from November 2025 to July 2026. Basically, he's booked and busy. "But the way I see it, I'm not a doctor; I'm not a teacher; I'm not someone who has to wake up every morning at 5 a.m. to lay down concrete on a busy road to survive," Benito continued. "My job is to fucking sing, and even though it comes with its own set of sacrifices, it feels silly to complain about it." When Benito's comments on the pressure of fame started to make their rounds on the internet, like in this Reddit thread, a lot of people had something to say about it, many praising the three-time Grammy winner for his honesty. Here are some of my favorite comments. "He's a man who got famous as an adult and has managed to become the hometown hero of Puerto Rico, which he obviously put in the work to deserve. It's not necessarily easy to handle, but you can compare that to what a lot of women and people who start as child stars go through. Good for him that he feels this way about it, but I'm not shocked that it's not a common perspective. If he can avoid the toxicity of overwhelming greed and not chase being a billionaire or whatever, he might actually stay happy," a Reddit user shared. Another Reddit user said, "Finally someone with some common sense. I'm so tired of celebs complaining how hard their job is, having never worked a real job in their lives. Like, sure, the pressure must be a lot and paparazzi and public scrutiny, but that's nothing compared to some annoying boomer manager breathing down your neck 24/7 or a customer having a screaming meltdown over a difference of 28 cents or cleaning up vomit, etc." "I appreciate the humility but the more artists downplay the work they put in the more the public does as well. EVERY job has pros and cons so please remember that. He is lucky to have the job he has but it's not like many of them don't work hard for it. 💙" X user wrote. This Reddit user wrote, "He has the right attitude and a healthy perspective." "Good way of putting it, everything is relative and even with fame and money and privilege you can still stress and be sad and be overwhelmed at times, but still understand and be grateful for what you have," another X user wrote. "I truly wish more celebrities and influencers had enough self-awareness to realize that publicly whining about their privileged lives doesn't hit the way they think it does," another Reddit user added. Finally, this Reddit user said, "It doesn't even sound like he's saying that as a performer you can't have bad days or struggle in/with your career, it more so sounds like he simply thinks it's in poor taste to publicly lament about how hard you have it since it's a highly privileged profession." What do you think about Bad Bunny's take on the pressures of being a famous singer? Let's talk about it in the comments.

File Photo by Angelina Katsanis/UPI | License Photo June 21 (UPI) -- The New York stage musical, Dead Outlaw, has announced it will play its final performance on June 29. The show -- which has music and lyrics by David Yazbek and Erik Della Penna -- opened at Broadway's Longacre Theatre on April 27. David Cromer directed the production and Itamar Moses wrote the book. "Elmer McCurdy was an ambitious, turn-of-the-20th-century outlaw whose death at the hands of a Western posse ended a life of failed crime and alcoholism and began a brilliant career as a mummified side-show attraction that traveled the USA for decades," a synopsis said. Even legends get laid to rest. Join us at the Longacre before #DeadOutlawMusical plays its final performance on Broadway June 29. DEAD OUTLAW on Broadway (@deadoutlawmuscl) June 20, 2025 "By the time this journey ended, his name had been forgotten and his desiccated body was hanging in a house-of-horrors ride at an amusement park in Southern California, spray-painted a day-glo orange. Then one day, a grip for the Six-Million Dollar Man TV show jostled what he thought was 'just a dummy' and an arm fell off, revealing a human bone and beginning a hunt for the origins of this enigma." At the 2025 Tony Awards, the show was nominated for Best Musical, while cast members Andrew Durand, Jeb Brown and Julia Knitel were mentioned in the acting categories. Dead Outlaw was shut out, however, winning none of the races it competed in. A version of the show will be released as an Audible Original in October. ‘Hamilton' Rockets Up The Charts After Its Tony Awards Reunion
Following a Tony Awards medley, Hamilton surges to No. 11 on the Top Streaming Albums chart — its ... More highest placement ever on that Billboard ranking. NEW YORK - JUNE 8: The original Broadway cast of "Hamilton" performs at THE 78TH ANNUAL TONY AWARDS, live from the legendary Radio City Music Hall in New York City on Sunday, June 8 (8:00-11:00 PM, LIVE ET/5:00-8:00 PM, LIVE PT) on the CBS Television Network, and streaming on Paramount+. (Photo by Michele CroweCBS via Getty Images) Hamilton swept the Tony Awards almost a decade ago in June 2016. The historic – and historical – musical entered the evening with 16 nominations and claimed 11 of those prizes. In the years since, its original Broadway cast recording has remained one of the most successful of all time. It rarely disappears from the Billboard charts, as Americans continue to love its unique blend of Broadway melodies and storytelling with hip-hop sensibilities. This week, Hamilton climbs higher than ever on one tally. Thanks to a high-profile performance that reignited interest in the set, the Hamilton original cast recording surges on streaming platforms. Hamilton Jumps to a New Chart Peak The Hamilton original Broadway cast recording rockets from No. 29 to No. 11 on the Top Streaming Albums chart this frame. That position marks a new high point on Billboard's list of the most successful full-lengths and EPs on platforms like Spotify and Apple Music for the title, as it now appears closer to the top 10 than ever before. It's extremely rare for any Broadway-related album to perform well enough on streaming sites to reach the Top Streaming Albums tally — let alone come within one spot of the loftiest region – and Hamilton stands alone in this respect. Hamilton's Cast Reunion at the Tony Awards Consumption of the Hamilton cast recording exploded following it being highlighted via a medley of songs performed during the 2025 Tony Awards. Many of the show's original cast members, including Jonathan Groff, Anthony Ramos, Daveed Diggs, Leslie Odom Jr., and of course Lin-Manuel Miranda, returned to the ceremony to blend eight tracks from the album, and the televised performance clearly reminded Americans of how much they love Hamilton. Hamilton's Album Rises 50% in Consumption According to Luminate, during the past tracking period, Hamilton shifted 27,500 equivalent units, between streaming activity and pure purchases. That's a jump of more than 51% from the previous period, when it managed 18,000 units. A little less than 1,000 of those were actual sales, which helps to explain how the musical was able to soar so high on the Top Streaming Albums tally. Hamilton Lives Inside the Top 10 Hamilton now lives inside the top 10 on half of all the Billboard rankings it appears on this week. The Miranda-powered project ascends one spot to No. 3 on the Top Rap Albums list and holds steady at No. 1 — yet again — on the Cast Albums ranking, where it is almost always in charge.
