Taiwanese gatecrashes wedding to ‘spy' on groom
HE gatecrashed a wedding on the pretext of 'spying' on the groom at the behest of the latter's ex-girlfriend, China Press reported.
The man, with the surname Lin, snuck into the reception in Taoyuan City, Taiwan, by claiming to be the groom's relative.
However, a receptionist felt something was amiss when the man did not give an ang pow. There were also more guests than seats available.
Lin, who was handed to the police, explained that he was there to 'spy'.
He said the groom's ex-girlfriend had asked him to attend and take photos as proof that the wedding had indeed taken place.
The incident, which took place in January last year, led to Lin being charged in court for fraud.
Prosecutors believed that he had gatecrashed the wedding just for a free meal.
However, the district court later held that Lin was not there for free food as he had eaten before arriving at the wedding.
Lin was found not guilty.
> Richell Lee, the youngest member of the Malaysian all-girl group Four Golden Princess, has opened a third ballet academy.
The daily also reported that her other dance schools are located in Bukit Mertajam and Sungai Petani.
The latest one is in Kuala Langat, Selangor.
'A milestone in life worth celebrating. After nearly half a year of hard work, day and night, with my family, we're finally open for business!' she said on Instagram.

The biggest challenge, according to Lee, was getting the proper approvals and permits from the local government, which took two months.

Besides being the owner, she will also be teaching ballet there.
Lee, who got married in 2021, gave birth to a son in 2023.
The Four Golden Princess was a popular band among children in the 1990s. Their hits included Hong Qing Ting (Red Dragonfly) and Mi Feng Gong Zuo (Bees Hard at Work).

Foreigners nabbed during raids
PETALING JAYA: More than 40 foreigners were arrested following large-scale operations against an e-waste recycling facility and several scam centres, says the Immigration Department. Its director-general Datuk Zakaria Shaaban said the raids were conducted yesterday at an e-waste facility in Pulau Indah, as well as several homes in Kajang and Kuala Lumpur that had been used by foreigners as scam operation centres. 'The raids were the result of public complaints and our own intelligence that had been conducted for around two weeks. 'The operations started at 11am and involved officers from the Putrajaya Immigration Department with assistance from the National Registration Department,' he said in a statement. 'The first operation at the e-waste facility led to the arrest of four men and 12 women from China, as well as 27 Bangladeshi men, all aged between 25 and 49,' Zakaria added. He also said that three locals were investigated during the raid. Zakaria said a series of raids were also carried out at several homes believed to be centres for scamming activities. This led to the arrest of nine Chinese and Taiwanese nationals. 'All foreigners have been placed at the Machap Umboo immigration depot for further investigation,' he added.

Supermodel ties the knot six years after ex-beau's death
Compiled by FAZLEENA AZIZ AND C. ARUNO SUPERMODEL Bella Su finally got married, six years after the death of her boyfriend and actor Godfrey Gao, China Press reported. The 29-year-old held a low-key wedding in China's Yunnan province on June 17 and was photographed wearing a low-cut wedding gown. Her husband's identity, however, remained a mystery as his face was always hidden behind an emoji on photographs posted online. Although Su is in a new relationship, she kept Gao's memory alive at her wedding by featuring the sunflower, which was the late actor's favourite flower, as part of the reception's decoration. 'Love never disappears, but continues to thrive in a different form!' she said in her wedding speech in reference to Gao. According to those who attended the wedding, it was the groom who decided on having a segment honouring Gao's memory during the reception. It was reported that Gao, 35, who was a Taiwan-born Canadian model and actor, collapsed while filming a Chinese variety series in 2019. He collapsed at around 2am on Nov 27, 2019, after filming for 17 hours that day and later failed to be resuscitated at a hospital. After his death, Su revealed that she and Gao had been dating in secret. She was seen attending his wake and funeral together with Gao's family. Su met her husband two years ago while on a trip to Shanghai to visit her maternal grandmother. They decided to get married this year. Marriages made to keep up with appearances
Compiled by FAZLEENA AZIZ AND C. ARUNO INDIVIDUALS who are homosexuals or bisexuals are said to be marrying women as a way to hide their sexuality, Kosmo! reported. This not only puts the woman in a place where her rights are denied but also has her being used like a 'trophy' in front of others, the report claimed. Laila (not her real name) shared how she found her husband's holiday pictures with his boyfriend at a resort overseas. She is in a long-distance relationship with her banker husband, who works in the Klang Valley, while she is a civil servant working on the East Coast. 'He comes back once in a while; sometimes for months on end we don't even meet. When we were together, I didn't suspect anything, but it got weird when he chose to sleep separately. 'I never really thought much about it as our marriage was arranged. But after a year, I started getting suspicious because he didn't seem to be interested in women. 'When I asked him about our honeymoon, he often gave excuses,' she said. After Laila found his pictures with other men, she was heartbroken. She divorced him. According to general, sexual and reproductive medical practitioner Dr Ahmad Ramdan Zainordin, some 30 gay couples sought medical treatment at his clinic every month. He said most of these couples are aged between 20 and 40 years old and married to women. 'Based on the examination, many of their wives are unaware of their husbands' sexuality. Most of them don't reveal anything about their wives and often come to the clinics alone. 'As such, the wives don't know the status of their infections. Some of these men have never consummated their marriages with their wives as well,' he said, adding that the marriage was merely to keep up appearances. > Actress and entrepreneur Nur Fazura Sharifuddin, 42, is still not open to finding a replacement after separating from her husband, actor Fattah Amin, on Oct 7 last year, Harian Metro reported. Fazura, when met at the launch of the music video for Luar Biasa, said that even though time has passed, it feels like just yesterday that she went through a very difficult episode in her life.
