INDIVIDUALS who are homosexuals or bisexuals are said to be marrying women as a way to hide their sexuality, Kosmo! reported.
This not only puts the woman in a place where her rights are denied but also has her being used like a 'trophy' in front of others, the report claimed.
Laila (not her real name) shared how she found her husband's holiday pictures with his boyfriend at a resort overseas.
She is in a long-distance relationship with her banker husband, who works in the Klang Valley, while she is a civil servant working on the East Coast.
'He comes back once in a while; sometimes for months on end we don't even meet. When we were together, I didn't suspect anything, but it got weird when he chose to sleep separately.
'I never really thought much about it as our marriage was arranged. But after a year, I started getting suspicious because he didn't seem to be interested in women.
'When I asked him about our honeymoon, he often gave excuses,' she said.
After Laila found his pictures with other men, she was heartbroken. She divorced him.
According to general, sexual and reproductive medical practitioner Dr Ahmad Ramdan Zainordin, some 30 gay couples sought medical treatment at his clinic every month.
He said most of these couples are aged between 20 and 40 years old and married to women.
'Based on the examination, many of their wives are unaware of their husbands' sexuality. Most of them don't reveal anything about their wives and often come to the clinics alone.
'As such, the wives don't know the status of their infections. Some of these men have never consummated their marriages with their wives as well,' he said, adding that the marriage was merely to keep up appearances.

KUALA LUMPUR: The Immigration Department has busted an online scam ring and illegal e-waste site in Klang Valley, arresting dozens of foreigners including Chinese and Bangladeshi nationals after surveillance and public tip offs. Immigration Department director-general Datuk Zakaria Shaaban said following intelligence gathering, two high-end residences in Kajang and Kuala Lumpur were raided on suspicion of being used for scam activities last Thursday. During the raids, Immigration detained four men, three women and a young girl from China, along with one Taiwanese man, he said. "All those arrested, aged between four and 43, are suspected of committing offences under Section 6(1)(c) and Section 15(1)(c) of the Immigration Act 1959/63 and Regulation 39(b) of the Immigration Regulations 1963," Zakaria said in a statement today. In an another operation, enforcement officials detained 39 foreigners during a raid on an illegal electronic waste (e-waste) disposal centre in Pulau Indah, Klang. Zakaria said those arrested included Chinese nationals and Bangladeshi men, aged between 25 and 49. Both the raids were conducted by enforcement officers from the Immigration Department headquarters in Putrajaya, with cooperation from the National Registration Department (NRD). Zakaria warned that the Immigration Department would not compromise with foreigners who stay illegally, overstay, or abuse their passes in the country.

China invites US influencers to showcase 'real China'

The initiative, titled 'China-global youth influencer exchange programme', seeks to enlist young social media influencers with at least 300,000 followers to collaborate with Chinese content creators, according to recruitment posts by Chinese state-affiliated media outlets, including the China Youth Daily. While relations between China and the US have deteriorated in recent months over issues including geopolitics, technology and trade, the program marks an effort to boost cultural exchanges. Last year, President Xi Jinping had called for more exchanges between Chinese and American universities, after previously announcing a plan to welcome 50,000 American students to China. Another post in College Daily, a publication particularly targeting Chinese students in North America, specified that applicants for the exchange programme based in the US should be active on platforms such as Instagram, YouTube, TikTok and X, and should 'love Chinese culture' and 'have no history of bad behaviours'. It called on Chinese students overseas to encourage influencers in their circle to apply, and said the successful candidates will get China's official invite as well as special assistance from the state to process their visas. The trip intends to take the participants across five Chinese cities – Suzhou, Shanghai, Shenzhen, Handan and Beijing, and will cover China's ecommerce hubs, the headquarters of companies such as Xiaohongshu Technology and BYD. Social media content from western influencers travelling through China post-Covid-19 have won praise from the state media for their authentic portrayal of everyday life in the country. In April, American streamer IShowSpeed's visit to China sparked widespread curiosity among fans about advancements in Chinese technology. Authorities have tapped social media influencers to check negative information and promote positive contents. Foreigners nabbed during raids
PETALING JAYA: More than 40 foreigners were arrested following large-scale operations against an e-waste recycling facility and several scam centres, says the Immigration Department. Its director-general Datuk Zakaria Shaaban said the raids were conducted yesterday at an e-waste facility in Pulau Indah, as well as several homes in Kajang and Kuala Lumpur that had been used by foreigners as scam operation centres. 'The raids were the result of public complaints and our own intelligence that had been conducted for around two weeks. 'The operations started at 11am and involved officers from the Putrajaya Immigration Department with assistance from the National Registration Department,' he said in a statement. 'The first operation at the e-waste facility led to the arrest of four men and 12 women from China, as well as 27 Bangladeshi men, all aged between 25 and 49,' Zakaria added. He also said that three locals were investigated during the raid. Zakaria said a series of raids were also carried out at several homes believed to be centres for scamming activities. This led to the arrest of nine Chinese and Taiwanese nationals. 'All foreigners have been placed at the Machap Umboo immigration depot for further investigation,' he added.
