ONE Fight Night 28: what sets Muay Thai, kickboxing champion Prajanchai apart

Prajanchai PK Saenchai is a name synonymous with excellence in the world of Muay Thai and kickboxing.
But as the reigning ONE Championship strawweight Muay Thai and kickboxing world champion prepares for ONE Fight Night 28 in Bangkok, it is not just his physical prowess that sets him apart – it is also his mindset.
With a career spanning more than 400 bouts across various disciplines, Prajanchai is one of the sport's living legends. His accolades speak for themselves: a two-time Lumpinee Stadium champion, three-time Rajadamnern Stadium champion across four divisions, and holder of multiple prestigious titles.
He is also 3-0 in boxing.
'I think the fact that I've been versatile enough throughout my career has been my strength,' he told the Post ahead of the defence of his Muay Thai strap against Ellis Barboza. 'I've boxed, kicked and adapted to every fight. It's not just about the wins, but about how you approach each fight and the process behind it.' Prajanchai's adaptability in the ring is something few can match. His versatility has allowed him to dominate across multiple weight classes. Yet, he credits his longevity to discipline in training.

ONE Championship: Shadow already thinking beyond headlining ONE Fight Night 33

Thai striking sensation Shadow Singha Mawynn will step into the biggest bout of his career when he headlines ONE Fight Night 33 against Younes Rabah on July 12, and is already thinking about a title shot. Advertisement The 25-year-old Muay Thai phenom has already amassed more than 90 professional fights, including winning the Rajadamnern Stadium Welterweight Muay Thai World title in 2022. Now ranked No 3 in ONE's featherweight Muay Thai division, he stands on the cusp of a world title shot. However, ahead of his career-defining bout at Bangkok's Lumpinee Stadium, Shadow said he is just focusing on the present. 'I just really want to get a win for each fight,' he told the Post. 'The future is up to the future. 'If I still keep going, not giving up, I believe one day I will be able to get a title shot against Tawanchai [PK Saenchaimuaythaigym].' Pressed on whether he had what it took to beat the 26-year-old, Shadow remained coy.

ONE Championship: Naito demands Takeru bout – ‘I'm underrated, he's overrated'

Rising contender Taiki 'Silent Sniper' Naito has demanded a place on the ONE 173 card when ONE Championship returns to Japan in November While no fights have been officially confirmed, Naito is campaigning hard for what would be the biggest opportunity of his career – a homecoming clash with compatriot Takeru Segawa. 'I want to fight at ONE 173,' Naito told the Post. 'And it would be great if I could compete with Takeru in Japan. 'I haven't fought in Japan for a long time, but I want to show my progress in my home country.' Naito, 29, is coming off a statement win over previously unbeaten Johan Estupinan at ONE Fight Night 32 in Bangkok. He floored the Colombian with a sharp counter left in round two and earned a majority decision after three rounds of composed, counter-heavy Muay Thai. 'But I was able to beat an undefeated opponent and show new possibilities for myself.'

ONE Fight Night 34: George Jarvis relishes shot at Regian Eersel's Muay Thai world title

The timing could not be more perfect, George Jarvis said, as the Briton gears up for a career-defining clash against reigning two-sport champion Regian Eersel at ONE Fight Night 34. Advertisement The 24-year-old will challenge the Surinamese-Dutch title-holder at Bangkok's Lumpinee Stadium on August 2 for the Lightweight Muay Thai World Championship, and Jarvis described it as a moment that 'has been written' for years. Visualising this opportunity, he said, had never left his mind since his ONE Championship debut two years ago. 'This is something that we've been working towards for a long time.' Jarvis told the Post. 'Since the day I made my debut on ONE Championship, it's always something I knew I'd eventually achieve,' he said. 'It was only a matter of time – and obviously a matter of getting the opportunity.' Play Jarvis, who last November captured the attention of ONE's global fan base with a spectacular third-round knockout victory over Thailand's Rungrawee Sitsongpeenong at ONE Friday Fights 85 in Bangkok, said: 'As they say, everything happens for a reason – and we finally got the shot that I believe I deserve. I'm more than ready.'
