Will Still announces he is LEAVING Lens to be closer to his Sky Sports presenter girlfriend after she revealed she has a brain infection following cancer battle

Daily Mail17-05-2025

Will Still has announced he is leaving his role as manager of Lens to be closer to girlfriend Emma Saunders.
Still, 32, is set to depart the club after less than a year to move back to England with Saunders, a presenter and matchday reporter for Sky Sports.
Saunders attended Lens' final game of the season on Saturday - a 4-0 home win over Monaco - and posted a picture alongside her boyfriend on the pitch after the match with the caption: 'Bravo @wrstill.'
She revealed in March that she had been treated for thyroid cancer at the start of the season and is now recovering from a brain infection called encephalitis.
Speaking after the match, an emotional Still said: 'I won't be the coach of RC Lens next season.
'It was the last season at Bollaert, for multiple reasons. The main reason that pushed me to make this decision is the fact that I need to go home. Everyone is well aware of what happened in my life. That's why.
'I had a lot of fun, I think we achieved great things despite everything. I've been in France for four years, four years that I've experienced intense moments.
'The logical choice is that I get closer to my wife for her well-being too.'
Still, who has spent the majority of his coaching career outside of England, has been linked with clubs in the Premier League and the Championship.
'I haven't signed anything anywhere yet, even if there has always been interest,' he added.
Saunders posted a picture to her Instagram account from her hospital bed in March, explaining her situation to her 71,500 followers and thanking her English manager boyfriend in a heartwarming post.
She began dating Still last year and the duo went public with their relationship during Euro 2024.
Holding a stuffed giraffe teddy, she went onto open up on her recent condition and fans and colleagues flooded the comments section with messages of support.
The caption read: 'Hi folks. Unfortunately life took a bit of an unexpected turn a couple of weeks ago and I'm now off work while I recover from Encephalitis - an infection of the brain.
She revealed in March that she has a brain infection after a battle with brain cancer
'I hope it wont be long until I'm back to see out the end of 2024/25 – especially after missing part of the start of the season before this when I was treated for Thyroid cancer.
'So, as I spend time now recovering and rebuilding again - I just wanted to thank my family & friends for their rock solid support, my colleagues at Sky for their patience allowing me the time to heal, and our wonderful NHS for their extraordinary kindness and care.
'And of course you Will Still just for being you & being there for me.'
In her career, Saunders has also worked for the likes of BBC Sport, fronting women's football on the channel alongside her work at Sky.
Seen as a trailblazer for women's broadcasting in sport and football, she's also worked as a stadium presenter for major sporting events including England internationals, the World Cup, Six Nations Rugby matches, and the first-ever MLB game in the UK.
Saunders began her broadcasting career on the student radio at the University of Southampton, and she soon joined the BBC's reporting scheme with a placement in London before embarking on a post-graduate scheme and joining Watford on the club's in-house channels.
She also became the first-ever female stadium announcer at a Premier League club in the process, and began working at both Sky and BBC as her career progressed.
Still went viral a matter of years ago when he became the youngest manager in Europe's top five leagues as the boss of Reims in France at the age of 30.
Aged 31 at the time, Still posted two photos of himself and Saunders during Euro 2024 alongside two emojis - one of a football and the other depicting a heart. Saunders was tagged in the post.

Santi Cazorla completes fairytale swansong with Oviedo as Arsenal legend scores to get boyhood club promoted to LaLiga

SANTI CAZORLA completed his fairytale swansong with Oviedo after netting to get them promoted back to LaLiga. The ace helped inspire a stunning comeback against Mirandes to seal a return to the top flight after a 24-year absence, prompting an incredible pitch invasion from fans. 7 7 7 7 7 7 The former Spain ace started his career with Oviedo's academy in 1996 before going on to star for Villarreal, Malaga and Arsenal. Cazorla, who almost lost his leg due to an infection after numerous Achilles injuries, rejoined them in 2023 after a spell in Qatar. Oviedo were in the second tier of Spain at the time, having last played in LaLiga in 2001 while even suffering relegation to the fourth division. Cazorla's first campaign back saw his side suffer heartbreak in the playoff final. But the minnows are now back in the big time after Cazorla inspired a stunning win against rivals Mirandes, who won the first leg 1-0. They doubled their advantage after just 16 minutes to leave Oviedo's hopes of promotion hanging by a thread. But Cazorla stepped up to score a penalty just before half-time, pulling his side back into the game. Oviedo then levelled the tie on the hour mark before Mirandes had a men sent off. And the hosts completed their stunning comeback in extra time as Oviedo fans flooded the pitch in tears of joy. Cazorla was all smiles at full time as he kissed wife Ursula, having returned to Oviedo out of pure love for the club. Gabriel urges Arsenal to complete £67m transfer for 'phenomenal' Brazil team-mate Rodrygo amid Real Madrid frustration 7 The playmaker even wanted to go unpaid, but league rules dictated he had to accept a minimum wage of £80,000 per year. It now remains to be seen if Cazorla stays for one more season in LaLiga, having undergone a total of 10 operations to leave him in daily discomfort. Two years of injury hell starting in 2016 saw a bacterial infection eat a 10cm chunk out of his right Achilles and ankle bone. A bit of Cazorla's hamstring and arm muscle was used to rebuild the tendon. And he previously declared a return to Arsenal as a coach could be on the cards, saying: 'Arsenal have never closed the door to me.' Cazorla scored 29 goals in 180 games during his six years at the Emirates while winning two FA Cups. He also played 81 times for Spain while winning successive Euros, but missed the World Cup victory in 2010 due to a hernia.

Eamonn Holmes' ‘wheelchair hits female producer' as GB News bosses launch investigation after set incident

GB News has launched an investigation after Eamonn Holmes' wheelchair 'knocked into a young female producer', according to reports. The television news channel is said to have received a complaint from his colleague after she was 'bruised' in the alleged incident. 5 5 The Mail On Sunday claims Eamonn's chair knocked into the producer after she told the employee pushing him that he could not return to the set. Eamonn, 65, is said to have taken a toilet break but that the cameras for his breakfast show were rolling when he came back. A source told the publication there were "frustrations" during the conversation between the producer and the person pushing Eamonn, but that Eamonn did not do anything wrong. "[Eamonn] is really struggling to move around these days so, as part of the care that GB News are giving him, he will need to be wheeled to the loo if he needs to go during the programme," the source said. "Only this time there was some confusion over whether or not he could go back to his seat as the cameras were going and the show was being aired live." The source added: "There were frustrations over it from some involved and the next thing the woman gets hit and she got a bruise on her leg." The Mail On Sunday reports that GB News' HR department is "looking into the incident". The Sun has contacted Eamonn's rep and GB News for comment. Eamonn, who announced his split with his telly star wife Ruth Langsford in 2024, has been battling a chronic health condition for four years. The former This Morning presenter is now confined to a wheelchair due to intense back pain. Eamonn Holmes reveals injured area after shock fall live on TV His chronic condition began unexpectedly in 2021 and he was rushed to hospital after suffering from "pain he's never felt in his life". Soon, Eamonn was unable to walk without a stick to help him and a spinal operation in 2022 provided little relief. The pain was caused by a dislocated pelvis, which later resulted in Eamonn sustaining three slipped disks. While recovering from surgery, he fell down the stairs at his home in Weybridge, Surrey, and broke his shoulder. A further spine and neck procedure in 2023 also did little to alleviate Eamonn's pain. Last month, Eamonn suffered another nasty injury when he fell off his chair live on his GB News breakfast show. Ruth and Eamonn's relationship timeline Before the shock split announcement, Ruth and Eamonn seemed like one of the strongest couples on UK TV – even with their signature bickering style. Here's how their romance played out... 1997 - The couple first meet after being introduced by mutual friends, two years after Eamonn splits from his first wife, Gabrielle, with whom he has three children. 1997-2002 - To be respectful to Gabrielle, the couple kept their relationship out of the limelight. Ruth told Daily Mail: "I thought it spoke volumes about the sort of man he was, the sort of father he was and the integrity he had. It made me love him more, not less." 2002 - Ruth and Eamonn welcome their son, Jack, to the family. 2005 - Eamonn finalises his divorce with Gabrielle. 2006 - The pair begin to host Friday episodes of This Morning together. 2010 - Eamonn proposes to Ruth while at the Cheltenham Races, after asking Ruth's mother for her hand. June 2010 - Eamonn and Ruth marry at Elvetham Hall, Hampshire. 2016 - Eamonn undergoes a double hip replacement in the first of many health battles. June 2019 - On This Morning, Ruth and Eamonn say the secret to their happy marriage. Eamonn credits "compromise, consideration and lots of conjugal," while Ruth said it was "laughter and an equal marriage". November 2020 - Ruth and Eamonn are replaced on their regular Friday slot by Alison Hammond and Dermot O'Leary in a 'show shake-up'. December 202 1 - After a year of being moved to the bank holiday presenting slot, both Eamonn and Ruth left This Morning. January 2022 - Eamonn debuted on GB News, while Ruth stayed with ITV in her long-standing role on Loose Women. September 2022 - Eamonn undergoes spinal surgery after years of back issues including a trapped sciatic nerve. November 2022 - Eamonn falls down the stairs of his Surrey home with Ruth and breaks his shoulder, requiring a new operation. September 2023 - Eamonn has a spine and neck stretching procedure as part of his year-long recovery. May 2024 - Ruth and Eamonn announce they have split after 14 years of marriage and a 27-year relationship. September 2024 - Eamonn was spotted on a luxury holiday in Barcelona with his new girlfriend Katie Alexander. Ruth calls in a 'fierce' divorce lawyer. The presenter ended up on his back on set and it came just two weeks after he was rushed to hospital in another fall. Incredibly, Eamonn - who is now in a relationship with marriage counsellor Katie Alexander - managed to carry on with the rest of the programme and was described as a "trooper" by his concerned colleagues. At the end of the show, he told viewers: "The chair gave way and I was lying flat on my back with my head hanging off the set. "The first hour or so I was OK because the adrenaline kicked in, but then as the morning went on I felt the aches and pains. "The worst thing is that two weeks ago I was hospitalised for a similar fall in the same area, back of my neck, head and shoulders and that's all come back." He added: "We're going to have to replace the chairs because I'm not the only one to have fallen." Eamonn has since vowed to "redouble his efforts" to walk again in a heartbreaking social media post. 5 5
