17 wanted suspects arrested after 2nd warrant round-up
EL PASO, Texas (KTSM) – A total of 17 individuals with outstanding criminal warrants were arrested during the second operation under the Joint Warrant Initiative on Wednesday, June 4, the El Paso County Sheriff's Office (EPCSO) said in a news release.

The following individuals were arrested during the warrant round-up, according to EPCSO:
EPCSO said this latest operation was carried out in partnership with the offices of Constable Frank Almada, Precinct 1; Constable Hector Bernal, Precinct 3; Constable Javier Garcia, Precinct 6; and Constable Angie Summers, Precinct 7.
'Our priority is holding individuals with outstanding warrants accountable,' Sheriff Oscar Ugarte said. 'I'm grateful for the continued dedication of the team at the Sheriff's Office, and I appreciate the Constables who joined us in making this second operation a success.'
EPCSO said the Joint Warrant Initiative was launched last month as a coordinated approach to reduce the number of outstanding criminal warrants across El Paso County.
The first operation resulted in 21 arrests, and Sheriff Ugarte said that these efforts will continue in the weeks and months ahead.

A body matching the description of a missing New Hampshire man was found by a hiker near the summit of a Colorado mountain, sheriff's deputies said. The body is believed to belong to Russell Hardy, 55, who was reported missing June 13 after coming to Colorado Springs 'with plans to hike and explore Pikes Peak,' the El Paso County Sheriff's Office said in a June 17 post on Facebook. Rescuers searched for him, including using K9s and drones, deputies said. The hiker found his likely remains about noon June 16 near the Pikes Peak summit, according to deputies. On a GoFundMe page, Hardy's family said climbing the mountain 'was one of his lifelong dreams.' He reached the top and died after a fall heading down amid bad weather, his family said on the page, noting that they're taking some comfort knowing he achieved his goal 'and passed doing something he truly loved.' Pikes Peak, which stands at more than 14,000 feet tall, is west of Colorado Springs.

Eastwood High School getting new principal
EL PASO, Texas (KTSM) — Eastwood High School is getting a new principal. Ysleta Independent School District announced the appointment of Robert Robledo as the new principal at Eastwood, effective July 1. Robledo, the current principal of the K-8 Eastwood Knolls International School, began his career in education in 2006 as an English teacher at Ysleta High School. He went on to serve as assistant principal at three high schools – including Bel Air and Riverside high schools – before moving to Eastwood Knolls IS in 2022 to serve as principal. Under Robledo's leadership, Eastwood Knolls IS maintained its standing as a high-performing, 'A'-rated campus by the Texas Education Agency, earning numerous distinctions in language arts, social studies, growth, postsecondary readiness, and closing the gaps, Ysleta ISD said. Robledo has a bachelor's degree in communication studies from the University of Texas at El Paso and a master's degree in school administration from Sul Ross State University. Tennessee man with dementia missing in El Paso County
(EL PASO COUNTY, Colo.) — A man who went on a road trip to Colorado from Tennessee is now missing, and law enforcement is seeking the public's help to locate him. Roger Jackson, 71, is on a road trip from Tennessee and was supposed to stay near Gold Camp Road, which is currently closed. The road was recently washed out due to rain and will be closed indefinitely. According to the El Paso County Sheriff's Office (EPSO), Jackson has not been heard from since Saturday and he was in El Paso County. EPSO said Jackson is driving a 2013 Chrysler Town and Country with Tennessee license plate BTF5858. He is described as standing at 5'11 and weighing 190 pounds.
