James, like his fellow Class of 2026 recruits, came away very impressed.
"I felt like, really loved and very welcomed by the whole program," James told PowerMizzou.com of his visit. "It was just really a good time. I enjoyed my time there for real. It was way better than I expected."
247sports lists James, who attends Norman North High School (Norman, Oklahoma), as the 25th best receiver for the Class of 2026. He finished his 2024 season at Norman North with 56 receptions for 1,233 yards and 17 touchdowns.

The 5-foot-11, 175-pound wideout was particularly impressed with the family environment felt during his weekend visit. "Normally, you're just getting to know the coach for who he is as a coach. I got to meet his family and see who he is off the field, and it just helped me get to know (more), maybe about my future coach."

Recruited by Missouri wide receivers coach Jacob Peeler, James recently listed Mizzou among his five favorites, joining Oklahoma, Kansas State, Washington, and Texas. James is expected to announce his commitment on Wednesday, June 25.
Other notables on an official visit to Mizzou alongside James included four-stars Evan Goodwin (OT/Bauxite, Arkansas), Evan Jacobson (TE/Waukee, Iowa), and JJ Bush (LB/Thodore, Alabama). Led by four-star edge rusher Asharri Charles out of Venice, Florida, another six recruits are expected to visit Columbia this weekend.
Missouri currently has two commits for the Class of 2026 - QB Gavin Sidwar and LB Keenan Harris.

Oklahoma Sooners still a force on the recruiting trail
The Oklahoma Sooners won a major recruiting battle on Friday night when they landed a commitment from 2026 four-star quarterback Bowe Bentley. Bentley chose the Sooners over the LSU Tigers. Bentley had a number of Power Four offers from across the country. One wouldn't think the Sooners could pull off this kind of recruitment given their record under Brent Venables. However, anyone who's willing to look beyond the box score understands that it isn't simply a matter of execution on the football field. Venables' first year in Norman was marred by a lack of defensive talent. The Sooners lost defensive stars from the Alex Grinch/Lincoln Riley era, like Nik Bonitto, Perrion Winfrey, Brian Asamoah, Isaiah Thomas, and Dellarin Turner-Yell, to the NFL, and weren't left with a lot of depth. That led to a defense that allowed 30 points per game in 2022. Certainly not typical of a Brent Venables defense. More: Social media reacts to Bowe Bentley's commitment to the Oklahoma Sooners In 2023, the defense improved, and the offense was really good as well, and Oklahoma went 10-3. Still not the expectation, but significantly better and a step in the right direction, especially on defense. Then last year, nothing went right for the offense. It was already an uphill battle as Oklahoma was replacing all five offensive line starters from 2023 and going from one of the most experienced quarterbacks in college football, Dillon Gabriel, to a talented former five-star quarterback, Jackson Arnold. Injuries along the offensive line and at wide receiver set the Sooners' offense back before it ever got started, and Oklahoma limped to a 6-7 season. After two 6-7 years, one would think the bottom was about to drop out on the recruiting trail with the Oklahoma Sooners. But Bentley's commitment shows that's far from the case. Sure, he and his family are Sooners fans but that isn't always the clincher in a big-time recruitment. Oklahoma still had to fend off the Tigers, a program that boasts a pair of Heisman winners since 2019. Bentley had to ignore an offer from defending national champion Ohio State as well as one of the best teams in college football over the last decade, the Georgia Bulldogs. Those schools may have had quarterback preferences in the 2026 recruiting class, but those offers were still significant. And Bentley chose Oklahoma despite everything that's been said about Brent Venables and the future of the program over the last six months. Because it's easy to have optimism about an Oklahoma program that's been one of the most successful programs in the history of college football, over the last 50 years, and over the last 25 years. And with one of the hottest offensive coordinators in the game, Ben Arbuckle, in Norman to help Oklahoma rebound on offense, the Sooners are more likely to return to expectations than they are to continue this trend of struggling to make a bowl game. Contrary to popular belief, Oklahoma hasn't lost a step on the recruiting trail. Brent Venables, Jim Nagy and their respective staffs move the needle with prospects and their families. And over the next few days at the ChampU BBQ, the Sooners will continue to do so. Mizzou loses 3-Star TE Kevin Sullivan to rival Kansas
Mizzou loses 3-Star TE Kevin Sullivan to rival Kansas originally appeared on Athlon Sports. When the Missouri Tigers landed Omaha-based tight end Isaac Jensen earlier this week, we mentioned how his pledge didn't mean that Mizzou was done recruiting the position in this cycle. But, just because they might still have interest in some players doesn't mean the players will see it the same way. In one case, they're going to have to look past a Kansas City tight end who is ranked high on their boards. Advertisement Three-star tight end Kevin Sullivan announced his commitment to rival Kansas on Thursday evening. Sullivan was a top in-state target of Eli Drinkwitz and is scheduled to visit Missouri on June 20. Sullivan attends Rockhurst High School in Kansas City, Missouri and is ranked as the No. 2 tight end in the state of Missouri, behind fellow Kansas commit Jack Utz out of Platte County High School. Although you never want a prospect that you're pursuing to choose a rival school, the commitment is not the end of the world for Mizzou. At 6'6" 220, Sullivan matches up similarly to what the Tigers got in Isaac Jensen and there are plenty of other tight ends on Mizzou's radar. Advertisement Missouri is still in the mix for four-star Evan Jacobson, who visited campus last month. Jacobson is a stud prospect who is the No. 3 ranked player in the state of Iowa and would make an immediate impact at Mizzou. Though, his recruitment seems to be an uphill battle, with tight end factories like Notre Dame and Texas A&M heavily pursuing him. Missouri head coach Eli Drinkwitz lost out on an in-state product to bitter rival Kansas in a fierce recruiting battle.© Denny Medley-Imagn Images Sullivan was mentioned by Athlon as a key visit to watch for the Tigers during the summer window due to rumblings that he was leaning towards Mizzou heading into his senior year. With the addition of Jensen for the Tigers, that likely pushed Sullivan out of Drinkwitz and Co's plans, leading to his commitment to the Jayhawks. The Tigers still have four committed prospects in their 2026 recruiting class, including four-star quarterback Gavin Sidwar, four-star linebacker Keenan Harris and four-star wide receiver Jabari Brady, along with the aforementioned three-star tight end Isaac Jensen. Mizzou Offensive Lineman Could be Sleeper Pick in 2026 NFL Draft
Mizzou Offensive Lineman Could be Sleeper Pick in 2026 NFL Draft originally appeared on Athlon Sports. With the NFL season still a couple months away — and the 2026 draft even further out — early projections are already surfacing, and scouts believe Mizzou may have another offensive lineman ready to continue the program's growing pipeline to the pros. Advertisement An ESPN article believes that Mizzou offensive lineman Cayden Green has what it takes to be a sleeper in the 2026 NFL draft. 'At 6-foot-5 and 315 pounds, Green — who transferred from Oklahoma after the 2023 season — has ideal size for an NFL guard, but there are some who think he could also play left tackle,' the article said. Tigers offensive lineman Cayden Green (70) in action during the second half against the Massachusetts Minutemen© Eric Canha-Imagn Images Mizzou has developed a strong reputation for producing offensive linemen in recent years, with three players drafted over the past two years — including 2025 No. 7 pick Armand Membou — and two more projected to go early in the 2026 draft (Green and center Connor Tollison). Advertisement As a recruit out of Lee Summit, Green was a four-star talent, a top three Missouri prospect and a top 15 offensive tackle in the country. Green had offers from Missouri, Oklahoma, LSU, Nebraska and Arkansas but ultimately committed to be a Sooner in 2022. After one season with OU, Green entered the portal. On Dec. 19, 2023, just seven days after the OL entered the portal, he committed to Mizzou. During Green's first season at Mizzou, he started in all 13 games at left guard and helped the offense accumulate 2,138 rushing and 2,926 passing yards as well as 26 rushing touchdowns. With the help of Membou and other pieces, the offensive line led the SEC and ranked seventh nationally in time of possession while being ranked fourth and seventh in the conference in TFLs allowed (4.62) and sacks allowed (2.00) per game, respectively. "Watching his feet at left guard, I think he could play tackle. He's a lot like Membou in that way. He's really versatile athletically," said an NFC offensive line coach who studied his tape.' Advertisement While his chances look high, ESPN believes he still has proving to do before he can be seen as one of the top talents. 'Green's run-blocking dominance stands out on tape, but he must improve his balance in pass blocking. If that improvement happens, he has All-American ability and first-round potential,' the article said. With Mizzou's recent success developing NFL-ready linemen, Cayden Green appears poised to be the next in line. While there's still room for growth, particularly in pass protection, his size, athleticism, and versatility have already caught the attention of NFL scouts.
