Liverpool are now 'close' to appointing Van Bronckhorst to their backroom staff, claims The Athletic.
He will replace his fellow countryman John Heitinga, who recently left Anfield to take on the role of head coach at Eredivisie outfit Ajax.
Van Bronckhorst spent a brief spell in charge of Besiktas after leaving Rangers before taking up a role on UEFA's Executive Committee.
He now appears set to move to Liverpool as the club looks to build on a title-winning campaign.
Speaking in April of this year, Van Bronckhorst was asked whether he'd like to become the permanent manager of Rangers once again: "No," he said live on TNT Sports.
"For me, that book is closed.
"Maybe as a fan, but no."
Rangers recently appointed Russell Martin as the club's new head coach following a change of ownership this summer.
He officially got down to business earlier this week ahead of the 2025/26 campaign.

Max Aarons to Rangers latest as Gers poised to announce capture of major summer target despite rival interest
Click to share on X/Twitter (Opens in new window) Click to share on Facebook (Opens in new window) RANGERS are closing in on a loan deal for Bournemouth's Max Aarons. New boss Russell Martin made the 25-year-old right-back one of his first summer targets after winning the Ibrox gig earlier this month. With the Gers stars due back for pre-season on Monday, Martin hopes to get the deal concluded quickly for him to travel north and join his side as they build up to the new season. Aarons made over 200 appearances for Martin's former club Norwich and was a youth player in their system during his time there. And he spoke fondly about the impact the former Canaries captain had on his development. He told the Talk Norwich Podcast last month: "The advice he would give and the relationship we built from there, he was almost like a father figure. "It's incredible. I nearly ended up back with them [Martin and Matt Gill] upon leaving Norwich that year, so that shows how the relationship just grew and grew. "They were definitely the ones that initially believed in me for sure." Now he's set to rekindle their relationship in Glasgow as he becomes his second signing after Lyall Cameron's move from Dundee was formally completed last week. And it's claimed Aarons turned down other options down south including in England's top flight. A report by TBR Football says Premier League new boys Leeds United were interested in his securing a loan deal for the former England Under 21 international. Rangers captain James Tavernier spotted training with ex-team-mate and old Premiership rival Ryan Porteous who branded him 'bad loser' Leeds are managed by Daniel Farke who was Aarons former boss at Norwich, and are also owned by 49ers Enterprises - the investment arm of the San Francisco 49ers NFL team. They were part of the US consortium which completed the takeover of Rangers last month. The report also claims Burnley, who secured promotion to the Premier League, and a host of other Championship clubs were interested in the full-back as well. Rangers boss Russell Martin is looking to get players through the door with a tricky Champions League qualifier against Panathinaikos on the horizon. Their pursuit of Israeli striker Dor Turgeman has apparently hit 'a major snag', with complications surrounding the current geopolitical landscape there. The Ibrox side are also preparing talks with Belgian star Nico Raskin as Martin looks to build his team around the talented midfielder. Jurgen Klopp sends message to Florian Wirtz after record Liverpool move
Jurgen Klopp believes Liverpool have signed an 'exceptional talent' in club record signing Florian Writz. Wirtz, 22, was officially unveiled as a Liverpool player on Friday night having completed his £116million move from Bayer Leverkusen. Including add-ons, that fee will make him the most expensive signing in Premier League history, dwarfing Liverpool's previous record fee of £85m, spent on Darwin Nunez two years ago. Despite the considerable outlay, Wirtz is regarded as one of the best young talents in European football, coveted by Manchester City and Real Madrid before deciding on a move to Merseyside. Klopp, who stepped down as Liverpool boss at the end of the 2023-24 season having since taken up a new role at Red Bull GmbH, is convinced his old side have landed a winner. Having won the Premier League title at a canter, Liverpool have avoided the mistake of standing still in the transfer market. While they lost Trent Alexander-Arnold to Real Madrid, the Reds moved quickly to bring in a replacement in Jeremie Frimpong. Milos Kerkez meanwhile is expected to arrive from Bournemouth as Andy Robertson's replacement at left-back. 'It's very difficult to strengthen them when you're champions,' Klopp continued. 'But Liverpool have managed that. They've signed an exceptional talent in Florian Wirtz . 'I'm looking forward to seeing it. It's going to be good.' More Trending Writz was admired by City who at one point viewed him as a long-term successor for Kevin de Bruyne while Xabi Alonso was interested in bringing him along from Leverkusen to Real Madrid. 'I just thought that it was the right point in my career to make the next step and of course I wanted to get to a club that is from the top three in the world, and in my opinion Liverpool was one of them,' Wirtz said, explaining his decision to head to Anfield. 'Yeah, I just saw myself in the best hands in Liverpool. 'I was really convinced by the people here, by the idea, and everything what the club offers me was really good. And in the end [it was] also easy to be excited for me to come to Liverpool.'
