Inside Angel Reese's 1st Career Triple-Double During Chicago Sky's 78-66 Win Over Connecticut Sun
Things are starting to look up for Angel Reese and the Chicago Sky. During their June 14 matchup against the Connecticut Sun, the "Bayou Barbie" recorded her first career triple-double, finishing the game with an impressive stat line that's left everyone wanting more.
Angel Reese Ties Caitlin Clark As The Only Other Player This WNBA Season To Earn A Triple-Double
Posting double-doubles has become Reese's signature. In fact, the WNBA star etched her name in the record books during her rookie season in 2024 with a record 15 consecutive double-doubles.

Against the Sun, she notched her latest one early in the second half, putting her officially on 'triple-double watch' heading into the final minutes. Needing just one more assist late in the fourth quarter, Reese found veteran teammate Ariel Atkins, who knocked down a mid-range jumper to secure the milestone.
In celebration, the 23-year-old flashed ten fingers toward her bench.
With the achievement, Reese joins Caitlin Clark in the exclusive club of players to record a triple-double this season.

The Chicago Sky official X account wrote, "Angel triple double, HVL masterclass, Five players in double digits, Dubs in the chat, #Skytown on top!"
Another user posted, "Angel got a triple-double. Say what you want, but sis has put an imprint on this game."
"11 ASSISTS with ONLY 2 turnovers," someone else wrote. "She make y'all eat your words every time."
"TRIPLE DOUBLE BARBIE, POINT FORWARD, MEBOUND, MEASSIST, MEPOINTS," a fourth user commented, playfully referencing Reese's viral TikTok where she discussed her plans to trademark the term "mebounds" after her critics coined the phrase to discredit her impressive rebounding abilities.
Angel Reese Reacts To Viral 'Mebounds' Term ... 'Y'all Ate That Up'
The NCAA champion recently told her nearly six million followers that she didn't mind when her critics troll her online.

"Whoever came up with the 'mebounds' thing, y'all ate that up," Reese said in an online video. "Because mebounds, crebounds, keybounds, tebounds... anything that comes off the board, it's mine."
The Maryland native, who's one of the most visible players in the league with major brand deals with Reebok, Reese's, Cash App, Playmaker Sports, and McDonald's, added, "And a brand ... that's six figures right there."
"Whoever came up with that, the trolling, I love when y'all do it, because the ideas be good," she said, adding, "when y'all came up with mebounds — cause, statistically, all the rebounds I get aren't always just mine. They're the defenses, too, or somebody else's on my team — but when y'all came up with mebounds, y'all [ate]."
She finished the video saying she and her agent were "gonna work with that."
Reese's Sophomore Season Has Been Record-Setting Despite Slow Start
In addition to earning her first triple-double, Reese has been gaining steam after a relatively slow start to her sophomore year in the league.

Recently, Reese became the fastest player in WNBA history to reach 500+ points and rebounds, earning the honor in 38 regular-season games.
She's also currently leading the WNBA in rebounds, averaging 11.8 per game.
The Sky General Manager Makes Comments About Reese's Efficiency
In an earlier interview, Jeff Pagliocca, the Chicago Sky general manager, opened up about the "disappointing" start to his team's season.
'We had pretty big, significant expectations for this season. That's why I made the moves I made," he said.
He then turned his focus to Reese, who has taken on a new role this year playing further from the basket and stressed that her efficiency on the court is key to their team's success.

'That's something that has yet to come together, but it's a necessity for us to win,' Pagliocca said. 'She's had some great games, and she's had some games like everybody else that haven't been her best. But she's our best chance at versatility on this roster. We need more production out of her, but we need her to help us in other ways, too."
With Reese's latest triple-double, showcasing her ability to score, rebound, and facilitate, it appears she's providing the exact "production" and versatility that Pagliocca was seeking. Perhaps her game is coming together right on schedule.

LaVar Ball wants his sons to play for the Lakers
When the Los Angeles Lakers drafted University of California, Los Angeles guard Lonzo Ball with the No. 2 pick in the 2017 NBA Draft, it meant that his father, LaVar, would be front and center. The elder Ball, who played college basketball and had a brief pro football career, was essentially a hype man for his son, as well as the CEO of Big Baller Brand, a clothing and sneaker manufacturer. He drew the ire of many people when he claimed that the younger Ball was a better player than Golden State Warriors superstar Stephen Curry and even said that the younger Ball was "the best player in the world." While the 6-foot-6 guard had his moments, he failed to even come close to playing at an All-Star level, and after two years with the Lakers, they sent him to the New Orleans Pelicans in the Anthony Davis trade. Advertisement Now that a majority share of the Lakers is going to be sold by the Buss family to Mark Walter, the elder Ball wants his three sons — Lonzo, LaMelo and LiAngelo — to play for the Purple and Gold and for Magic Johnson to return to the organization. 'More news!' LaVar said. 'The Lakers just sold for $10 billion. Uh oh. Hey, [Los Angeles] Clippers, you better get my boys or Lakers if you put Magic back in line. Let Magic run this thing so we go get these championships, 'cause he know what to do. Magic, this for you. Since them Lakers is ran by a new group, shoot. A new time, new era. Go get the Ball boys. Hey, it's not even about a bidding war. First come, first serve. 'Whoever wants them championships, better get the Ball boys. Trust me when I tell you. But Magic, if you in line, I'm down with you, dawg. Holler at your boy.' Johnson was the Lakers' president of basketball operations from February 2017 to April 2019. He was a key reason the Lakers drafted Lonzo Ball in 2017, and he even visited the Ball clan in Chino Hills just prior to that year's draft. He has also been involved with Walter since 2012 as part of the group that owns the Los Angeles Dodgers. Under their leadership, the Dodgers have had a tremendous amount of success, which includes two World Series championships in 2020 and 2024. Advertisement Lonzo Ball has had lots of trouble staying healthy since coming into the NBA. As a member of the Chicago Bulls, he suffered a meniscus tear in January 2022, and although he was initially expected to miss up to eight weeks, he ended up being out of action for nearly three calendar years. He ultimately underwent multiple surgical procedures as a result of the injury. Although he returned to action on Nov. 27, 2024, he only played in 35 games afterward. For the season, he averaged 7.6 points, 3.4 rebounds and 3.3 assists in 22.2 minutes a game while shooting 36.6% from the field. Mike Florio Hints at a 'Bill Belichick to Tampa Bay Buccaneers' Scenario
Mike Florio Hints at a 'Bill Belichick to Tampa Bay Buccaneers' Scenario originally appeared on Athlon Sports. There have been some strange rumors circulating around the NFL coaching ranks, especially since six-time Super Bowl champion head coach Bill Belichick left the New England Patriots last offseason. Advertisement But when the rumors hit close to home, one tends to pay more attention. Pro Football Talk's Mike Florio suggested earlier this month that Belichick may have eyes on not just a return to the NFL, but also being the head coach of the Tampa Bay Buccaneers. There are two problems here. First, the Buccaneers already have a coach, and a coach that has won three straight division championships in Todd Bowles. Second, Belichick already has a job with the North Carolina Tar Heels. How would this make sense? Florio wrote that the Tar Heels general manager, Mike Lombardi, was suggesting that Bowles might be interested in retiring after this season, which was not substantiated by anyone. Advertisement Florio was curious what would motivate Lombardi to spread such a rumor. "So why would Lombardi be trying to speak a vacancy into existence? Maybe because that's one of the jobs Belichick would want," Florio wrote. "Even with all of the craziness that has happened of late, the Bucs can't be ruled out as a potential destination for Belichick." During an appearance on "Pardon My Take," Florio clarified all this by saying it's something that might not actually be happening. 'Allow me to weave my fan fiction. Belichick's consigliere Mike Lombardi, who is basically his unofficial mouthpiece, has been very quiet since all of the [Belichick's girlfriend] Jordon Hudson stuff hit the fan," Florio said. "Lombardi wouldn't shut up until this Hudson stuff happens, and now you can't find him anywhere. But he was putting out this idea that Todd Bowles would retire, possibly after the 2024 season. ... So I feel like Belichick has been eyeballing the Bucs. Maybe Lombardi was trying to speak it into existence that there'd be a vacancy there, because that's one of the teams where they've got the talent Belichick needs." Advertisement This is all very curious. And totally fiction. Bowles isn't going anywhere unless he's fired, and while Belichick probably has an interest in a return to the NFL, we saw how interested other teams are in having him last offseason when he had zero offers.
