PC critically hurt in crash out of intensive care
A police officer who was left critically injured in a crash while on duty is out of intensive care, a police force has confirmed.
PC Christopher Miller was left with life-threatening injuries following the incident on the B416 in Stoke Poges, Buckinghamshire, on 22 May.
Thames Valley Police said the 38-year-old was discharged from the intensive care unit and moved on to a rehabilitation ward.
In total, five people have been arrested in connection with the incident.
Thames Valley Police said a white BMW vehicle did not stop at the scene of the crash, which happened at about 22:20 BST.
One of those arrested included a 28-year-old man who was charged with attempted murder, causing serious injury by dangerous driving, driving while disqualified, and using a motor vehicle on a road without insurance.
He was set to appear at Reading Crown Court on 23 June.
On PC Miller, the force said: "His family continue to be supported by specially trained colleagues, and on behalf of PC Miller and his family, we would like to thank everybody for their well wishes, as he continues on his long road to recovery."

Man in critical condition after attack in alley on Chicago's North Side
A man suffered serious injuries after an attack in Chicago's Edgewater neighborhood on Thursday night. Chicago police said officers found a man with serious head trauma in an alleyway in the 5800 block of North Kenmore Avenue just after 10 p.m. Officers responded to a call of a person shot. When they arrived on the scene, officers found the man who had been hit in the head with a blunt object. He did not appear to have been shot. It is not clear what happened during the attack. Police said he was taken to St. Francis Hospital in Evanston in critical condition. No arrests have been made. Police are investigating.

‘Not guilty': US singer Chris Brown fights UK assault charges in London court
Chris Brown has pleaded not guilty to charges linked to a London nightclub brawl, with his trial scheduled to begin in October 2026. The Grammy-winning singer is accused of causing grievous bodily harm and possessing an offensive weapon. Despite strict bail conditions, Brown is continuing his international tour, including performances in London and beyond. American R&B singer Chris Brown on Friday pleaded not guilty in a UK court to a charge stemming from an alleged London nightclub brawl in 2023. Brown, 36, wearing a dark suit and tie as well as glasses, stood in the dock in London as the charge was put to him, replying: 'Not guilty, ma'am.' The singer, who is on £5 million ($6.7 million) bail, waved to people in the public gallery as he left, following his plea to allegedly attempting to cause grievous bodily harm with intent. He appeared in the dock with co-defendant Omololu Akinlolu, a US national, with whom he is jointly charged. Fraudsters steal from motorists at city centre car park pay machines
A city centre car park has been targeted by fraudsters stealing money from drivers at payment machines. Customers at Worcester Street car park in Oxford have had sums of money taken from their bank accounts shortly after using the pay machines. Oxford City Council has issued a warning to car park users that they've identified the fraudulent activity and are working with the police to investigate. A common sign of this scam is a "card declined" message on the machine, prompting users to move to another machine—by which time, the card may already have been compromised. "This kind of incident is not common in any of our car parks. They've also instructed enforcement officers to remain vigilant and report suspicious activity and have made the public aware of the fraud risks. Messages on screen and bank notifications or warnings could be red flags that something is wrong. It also said that RingGo, a mobile car park payment app, can be used as an alternative method to avoid bank card fraud. The council asked car park users to report any suspicious activity to police immediately by phoning 101. It has a pay-and-display payment system and payment machines do not accept cash, although a telephone payment system with a valid bank card as well as RingGo app payments are available. The car park is one of six owned and operated by the council in the city centre, though the council has not reported any other incidents of fraudulent activity at other locations.
