PC critically hurt in crash out of intensive care

A police officer who was left critically injured in a crash while on duty is out of intensive care, a police force has confirmed. PC Christopher Miller was left with life-threatening injuries following the incident on the B416 in Stoke Poges, Buckinghamshire, on 22 May. Thames Valley Police said the 38-year-old was discharged from the intensive care unit and moved on to a rehabilitation ward. In total, five people have been arrested in connection with the incident. Thames Valley Police said a white BMW vehicle did not stop at the scene of the crash, which happened at about 22:20 BST. One of those arrested included a 28-year-old man who was charged with attempted murder, causing serious injury by dangerous driving, driving while disqualified, and using a motor vehicle on a road without insurance. He was set to appear at Reading Crown Court on 23 June. On PC Miller, the force said: "His family continue to be supported by specially trained colleagues, and on behalf of PC Miller and his family, we would like to thank everybody for their well wishes, as he continues on his long road to recovery." A 27-year-old motorcyclist has been arrested for failing to stop for police after breaching a road closure and alleged weapon and drugs and Cornwall Police said the man from Cornwall drove along a road near Vue Cinema that had been closed during the English Riviera Airshow at Paignton on force said: "Thanks to the swift actions of PC Miller the rider was quickly and safely detained."Officers arrested the man on suspicion of driving whilst unfit, dangerous driving, possession of an offensive weapon and possession of drugs. A man has been charged with attempted murder after a police officer was hit by a car and critically wounded. Simranjit Kajla, 28, is accused of attempting to kill Thames Valley Police officer PC Christopher Miller following the incident in Stoke Poges, Buckinghamshire on May 22. Kajla, of Slough, also faces charges of causing serious injury by dangerous driving, driving whilst disqualified and driving without insurance. He is due to appear before Reading Magistrates' Court today. A 38 year old from Slough, who was arrested on suspicion of attempted murder and causing serious injury by dangerous driving, has been released on police bail until 23 August. A 43-year-old man from Slough, who was arrested on suspicion of assisting an offender and perverting the course of justice, has been released under investigation. A 37-year-old woman from Slough, who was arrested on suspicion of assisting an offender and perverting the course of justice, is still in police custody at this time. PC Miller, 38, sustained 'life-threatening injuries' at around 10.20pm on May 22 on the B416 Bells Hill, between Decies Way and Rogers Lane in Stoke Poges, when he was struck by a white BMW. The vehicle failed to stop and drove into him, Thames Valley Police previously said.
