Spanish police say Malaga shooting suspect ‘fled three countries in 15 hours'

The two men, understood to be Eddie Lyons Junior and Ross Monaghan, died after a gunman opened fire outside Monaghans Bar in Fuengirola, Malaga, on May 31.
The incident prompted a denial from Police Scotland that the incident was linked to a suspected ongoing gang feud which began in March.
A man aged 44 was arrested in Liverpool on June 13, according to the National Crime Agency, which supported the arrest alongside Merseyside Police.
He then appeared in Westminster Magistrates' Court, ahead of extradition proceedings.
On Tuesday, the Spanish National Police, which is leading the investigation, alleged the man took a route through 'three countries in less than 15 hours' and used disguises to avoid being detected.
It said that it took 'just seven days' to identify him.
Police Scotland had previously denied any link between the shootings in Spain and ongoing conflict in the Edinburgh and Glasgow regions.
The force said in a statement: 'There is also nothing to suggest that the shooting in Fuengirola was planned from within Scotland.'
On Tuesday, the Spanish police force said 'two house searches were also carried out in Liverpool and that the man went into hiding in the UK'.
A Spanish police spokesperson said: 'In just seven days, the alleged perpetrator was identified. He fled three countries in less than 15 hours, altering his physical appearance to avoid recognition.
'Once in hiding in the United Kingdom, he changed his address to hinder any investigation until Friday afternoon, when he was arrested by the National Crime Agency (NCA) following the issuance of an International Arrest Warrant by Fuengirola Magistrates' Court Number Two.'
A spokesperson for the National Crime Agency said: 'On June 13, officers from Merseyside Police arrested a 44-year-old man in the Liverpool area on behalf of the Spanish authorities for two counts of murder. The operation was supported by officers from the NCA's National Extradition Unit.
'The individual appeared at Westminster Magistrates' Court on June 14 for the commencement of extradition proceedings.
'He was remanded in custody.'
Police Scotland Assistant Chief Constable Stuart Houston said: 'We have been assisting Spanish colleagues with their investigation into the fatal shootings in Fuengirola.
'We are not aware of any current evidence which suggests the deaths of these two men in Spain are linked to the recent criminal attacks in Scotland being investigated as part of Operation Portaledge.
'We are aware of the statement from the Spanish police and, although we cannot comment on an ongoing investigation in another jurisdiction, our position remains that we have no current evidence to suggest that this incident was orchestrated from Scotland.
'We are aware of the arrest of an individual in the Merseyside area and will continue to support colleagues in Spain where necessary and if required by them.'

These images do not show a victimless crime, far from it. The assumption has to be made that, if it was not for people like yourself providing a marketplace for such images, that abuse would not take place. "They were but part of what was discovered by the police. It is clear that, not only had you been downloading indecent images of children from the internet, you had been taking indecent photographs of children yourself. You had been abusing your position of trust at the school to take photographs of the very children you were there to look after and educate. "The notes you made at this time demonstrate what was going through your mind. I hope that you do not need me to tell you how abhorrent this sort of conduct is regarded by society." Pickett was also handed a 10-year sexual harm prevention order. He will be required to sign the sex offenders' register for the next decade.

Bootle shopkeeper stabbed in front of children say eyewitnesses

A "friendly and hardworking" shopkeeper was stabbed to death in front of children and customers, witnesses to the attack have said. Merseyside Police said the 44-year-old woman died in hospital after the attack inside the Low Cost Food & Wine convenience shop in Bootle, Merseyside, shortly after 17:05 BST on Friday. A 47-year-old man from the Widnes area was arrested near the shop on Stanley Road, and is being questioned on suspicion of murder and possession of a knife. Witnesses described children running out of the shop and screaming for help, while bystanders tried to help the victim, who they said had collapsed by the shop entrance. A police spokesman said a knife was seized at the scene and detectives continue to question the suspect. Det Insp Gavin Mulcahy previously said the attack was being treated as a domestic assault and that no other suspect is being sought by police. Constantin Manzu, 40, who owns C&C Cakes opposite the scene, said he saw the aftermath of the stabbing and sheltered witnesses in his told the BBC: "I heard screaming. There was a bus at the stop in front so I could not make out what it was but when I went outside there was a big group by the door of the shop."I could see them looking at someone lying on the floor, and someone standing there said someone had been stabbed." Mr Manzu said two customers who witnessed the attack stayed in his shop for a short time afterwards as "everyone was in shock".He said: "I can't describe it in words. Footage shows three vans burst into fireball after attack outside Glasgow supermarket

Police and fire crews were called to Pollokshields shortly after midnight on Saturday. Shocking footage captured the moment three vans burst into flames in a firebomb attack outside a supermarket in Glasgow. The parked vehicles were targeted outside Strawberry Garden - a grocers and cash and carry - just after midnight on Saturday. ‌ The motors exploded into a fireball on Forth Street in the Pollokshields area, causing a huge plume of black smoke. ‌ Cops have launched probe into the deliberate blaze. a blaze probe into the incident described by one local as "deliberate and malicious". I couldn't get out to see my car for a while so I didn't know if it was on fire or not. ‌ "I had parked further down Forth Street earlier. Luckily it was far enough away from the blaze. "By the time I finished at 2am I was allowed to leave by police." Pictures taken at the scene today show how all three motors were left a burnt out shell. ‌ One motor was so badly torched that only the bottom half and wheels remained intact. A recovery vehicle was also at the scene ready to remove the charred remains from the scene. Police say they are treating the fire as suspicious. ‌ A Police Scotland spokesperson said: 'Around 12.05am on Saturday, 21 June, 2025, police received a report of three vehicles on fire in the Forth Street area of Glasgow. "The fires were extinguished by the Scottish Fire and Rescue Service and no injuries were reported. The incident is being treated as suspicious and enquiries are ongoing.' ‌ A spokesperson for the Scottish Fire and Rescue Service said: "Around 12.08am Scottish Fire and Rescue Service were called to a report of three vehicles on fire on Forth Street, Glasgow. "We mobilised three appliances to the scene. There were no reports of injuries. "Crews left at 2.09am."
