Patna: Major railway stations under the
East Central Railway
(ECR) have been illuminated in vibrant hues of tricolour from Wednesday onwards to honour the armed forces for their success in
Operation Sindoor
— a military response on May 7 in the wake of the Pakistan-backed terror attack in Pahalgam on April 22, which claimed the lives of 26 civilians, mostly tourists.
According to ECR's chief public relations officer (CPRO), Saraswati Chandra, Patna Junction, Rajendra Nagar Terminal, Patliputra Junction, Jhajha, Samastipur, Darbhanga, Jayanagar, Madhubani, Saharsa, Bapudham Motihari, DDU, Gaya, Hajipur, and Sonepur are among the major stations which have been adorned with the saffron, white and green lights to commemorate the armed forces bravery and boost national morale.
"The country has declared a period of celebration from May 7 to May 23, during which various events are being organised under the theme of
national unity
and resilience," he added.
Danapur divisional railway manager (DRM) Jayant Kumar Choudhary said among the most visible tributes is the illumination of railway stations, turning them into symbols of national pride. "The tricolour lighting has drawn admiration from the people in general," he said, adding that Operation Sindoor is not just a military response but a symbol of national resolve against terror.

According to Samastipur railway sources, apart from the tricolour lights, the railways played patriotic songs and showed a video on the TV screens at Samastipur, Darbhanga, Jayanagar, Saharsa and Bapudham Motihari stations, displaying exemplary courage and indomitable spirits of the Indian armed forces.
An ECR official said, "Operation Sindoor marks not just a military victory, but a moment of collective national awakening, with institutions and citizens standing together against terror." He added that as the country continues to pay homage to its soldiers and victims of the Pahalgam attack, the illuminated stations and waving tricolours serve as enduring symbols of India's unity, courage and resilience.
