Ahmedabad: As all but one passenger of the ill-fated flight are now believed to have perished in the unfortunate accident on Thursday, a number of lives have been lost in the

hostel premises where the plane struck, killing several junior doctors as well as other non-medical individuals.
While initially the number of casualties among students in the hostel was pegged at 10, it is now expected to rise significantly, though no official statement has been issued so far.
At the time the plane crashed into the hostel canteen, it is believed that as many as 300 doctors were present within the premises.

, an auto driver, lost his son Akash, who was at a nearby tea stall when the fire from the crash engulfed the area. While Patni's wife sustained burn injuries in her attempt to save their son, two other bystanders drinking tea at the stall were also killed.

"Later, even visibility was gone," More recounted, adding that soon debris from the building started falling around them, and by the time they got out, they realised that even the wall of the building had collapsed.

The crash, which occurred moments after takeoff from the Sardar Vallabhbhai Patel International Airport in Ahmedabad, also claimed the lives of 29 people on the ground.
