Girl sexually assaulted after break-in while she was sleeping at home in Thompson
A 49-year-old man who police say broke into teenage girl's home in northern Manitoba has been charged with sexual assault and forcible confinement.
Thompson RCMP went to a home on Ashberry Place on Tuesday around 1:15 a.m. to investigate a report of an assault.
Officers were told a teen girl had fled to a neighbour's house and a man she said sexually assaulted her was still at her home, RCMP said in a news release Thursday.
The man was arrested at the home, police said.
Police believe the man, who the girl knew, broke into her house while she was asleep and sexually assaulted her.
The girl, who was alone at home when the man broke in, escaped without physical injuries, police said.
The man has been charged with sexual assault, sexual interference, forcible confinement, invitation to sexual touching and breaking and entering.
