Sabrina Carpenter's new album Man's Best Friend isn't expected until late August, but the campaign around the project is already going spectacularly. The Grammy winner dropped new single "Manchild" in early June, and the country-tinged pop tune has quickly become a massive global success.
The track launches on half a dozen charts in the United Kingdom this week, and it leads the way on many of them, as Carpenter's latest cut proves that a new worldwide pop star is here to stay.
"Manchild" launches atop the Official Singles chart in the U.K., which ranks the most consumed songs in the country. It earns Carpenter her fourth career leader, as three smashes from her breakout album Short n' Sweet all managed to lead the charge for at least a month at a time.
"Espresso," "Please Please Please," and "Taste" took turns ruling, and now "Manchild" launches atop the competitive roster as well, joining those fairly recent wins.
The same track also rules the Official Singles Sales, Official Physical Singles and Official Vinyl Singles charts as it opens at No. 1 on the main songs tally in the U.K. "Manchild" is Carpenter's second ruler on the first two tallies and her third on the vinyl-only roster, as "Nonsense" — taken from a previous era — also managed one moment in the spotlight.
"Manchild" doesn't quite dominate either the Official Streaming or Official Singles Downloads charts in the U.K. this week, but it does begin its run on those two tallies inside the top 10. The latest from Carpenter kicks off its time as the second-most streamed tune in the nation, and the fifth-bestselling download. In both cases, the singer-songwriter collects her fourth placement inside the top 10.
"Man Child" is one of seven songs by Carpenter to appear on at least one chart in the U.K. at the moment. Previous smashes like "Espresso," "Taste," "Please Please Please" and "Nonsense" make a home on several rankings, while "Busy Woman" and "Bed Chem" live on just one list as fans continue to buy and stream her past works amid growing excitement around her upcoming full-length effort.

Coronation Street star reportedly quits with final scenes having already aired
A Coronation Street star is said to have left the ITV soap, with fans having already watched his final scenes. Jack Carroll, known for his role as Bobby Crawford, is reported to have left the show after two years. The 26-year-old first came to wider attention after appearing on Britain's Got Talent back in 2013. In the seventh series of the ITV talent show, his comedic act saw him finish as runner-up. Since then, he has acted in a few films and TV shows, including Trollied, Eaten By Lions, Doctors, Father Brown and more. He arrived on Coronation Street in 2023 as the nephew of Carla Connor, and the secret son of Rob Donovan. In a recent storyline, Bobby and Lauren Bolton clashed when she wrongly accused him of blackmailing her. This infuriated Bobby, who told Lauren that they were no longer friends, and decided to go on a lads' holiday to Spain with Simon Barlow. According to reports, this apparently has marked Carroll's exit from the soap, which his last episode having aired back on May 12. A source told The Mirror: "Bobby has had a dramatic couple of years on the cobbles, but the time has come to bid farewell. "Actor Jack enjoyed his time on the soap, but it's time to move on. Viewers won't see the character exit the street as he's already left, with Jack filming his final scenes some time ago. "The door has been left open for Jack should he wish to come back to the show in the future. With his Aunty Carla there, Bobby will always have a place in Weatherfield." Researching common Mandela effects – a name given to what seem to be collective memories or inaccurate happenings, like a common misconception that Nelson Mandela died in prison in the '80s – I found Colin Firth's Darcy implicated. His character, famous for THAT pond scene, never actually emerges, sodden-shirted, from the pool on-screen, the researchers wrote. This is despite almost half of us (49%) vividly remembering the moment. 'Mr Darcy is seen walking on his estate, having swum in his lake, but you never see him emerging,' they shared (a peek at the clip confirms the sad fact). Here are some of the other mind-melting false memories common among Brits: Though 59% of people polled said they were sure Mr Monopoly wore the accessory, he does not. That's compared to 13% of Americans who believed the '80s death myth.
