Ponguleti Promises Homes for All Under Indiramma Scheme

Hans India04-06-2025

Revenue Minister Ponguleti Srinivasa Reddy has assured that all eligible people will receive homes under the Indiramma Housing Scheme. He announced that 4.5 lakh houses are being built in the first phase.
On Wednesday, he took part in a program at Satyanarayanapuram in Khammam district, where land documents (pattas) were given to beneficiaries.
Ponguleti criticized BRS leaders for spreading false claims about the scheme. He said his government is sincere and committed to helping the poor, unlike the previous government.
He shared that the government plans to build 20 lakh houses over the next four years. In the Paleru constituency, he promised to give a house to the eldest son in every eligible family.
He added that even though the state's financial situation is difficult, the government is still issuing ration cards. So far, 19 lakh new names have been added.
Ponguleti accused the previous KCR-led government of pushing Telangana into debt. He said the state now pays ₹6,500 crore in monthly interest on loans taken earlier.
He criticized the past government for spending on luxury buildings instead of helping the poor. He said the focus should have been on public welfare, not political gain.

SIT summons BJP leader in T'gana phone-tapping case

The Special Investigation Team of the Telangana police probing the alleged phone tapping during the previous Bharat Rashtra Samithi regime, summoned a close aide of Union minister of state for home Bandi Sanjay for questioning in connection with the case, the Bharatiya Janata Party (BJP) disclosed on Friday. The statement said the SIT, which began its investigation into phone tapping after the Congress came to power, had already confirmed that Bandi Sanjay's phone had been tapped (HT Archive) In a statement, the Telangana BJP said the SIT officials had confirmed on Friday that the phone of Bandi Sanjay's close aide and BJP Karimnagar Parliamentary constituency convenor, Boyinapalli Praveen Rao, was tapped during the previous BRS regime. 'The SIT authorities called up Praveen Rao and informed him that his phone number was also in the list of those which were tapped. They said they would summon him shortly, and he would be required to appear before the investigating authorities for questioning,' the BJP said. Meanwhile, BJP state general secretary Gujjula Premender Reddy, too, confirmed that he had received the information from the investigating authorities that his phone, too, was tapped during the previous regime. The statement said the SIT, which began its investigation into phone tapping after the Congress came to power, had already confirmed that Bandi Sanjay's phone had been tapped. 'Now, the investigation has revealed that the phones of his staff and close associates were also tapped,' it said. The party said Praveen Rao has been a long-time associate of Bandi Sanjay and had managed Sanjay's election campaigns in the past. 'In recent years, Praveen Rao has served as Sanjay's personal assistant and the BJP Karimnagar Parliamentary constituency convenor, coordinating constituency tours and supervising the execution of various programmes,' it said. It said Praveen Rao had taken part in the agitations of Sanjay during the BRS regime against forcible implementation of GO 317 (on employees' transfers), leakage of Class 10 examination paper, communal violence at Bhainsa and other such incidents. 'He was even named as a co-accused in several public agitation-related cases alongside Sanjay,' the party said. Premender Reddy also said the SIT authorities had informed him, too, that his phone was also tapped during the BRS regime. 'I shall hand over all the evidence and other details of my mobile phone to the Jubilee Hills police on Monday,' he said, adding that if the police did not take any action even after gathering all the details, the state government would be held responsible.

AAP MP Meet Hayer slams Panjab University over bid to curb campus protests

Chandigarh: The Aam Aadmi Party has strongly condemned Panjab University's decision to demand affidavits from students in a bid to curb protests on the university campus. AAP MP Meet Hayer described the decision as highly undemocratic and authoritarian. Meet Hayer stated that India, as the world's largest democracy, cannot tolerate such a dictatorial decision in a public university. He questioned where students could raise their concerns if they encounter issues within the institution. Across universities, student protests against administrative decisions consistently led to improved education and facilities, ultimately benefiting the student community. He highlighted notable achievements brought about by student protests on campus. For instance, the university library, which previously did not remain open overnight, began operating 24×7 following student demonstrations. Similarly, protests successfully reduced increased tuition fees or prevented fee hikes altogether. Such examples make this decision entirely unacceptable, and the Aam Aadmi Party strongly condemns it, he said. by Taboola by Taboola Sponsored Links Sponsored Links Promoted Links Promoted Links You May Like 2025 Top Trending Local Enterprise Accounting Software [Click Here] Accounting ERP Click Here Undo Meet Hayer pointed out that the university administration increasingly made authoritarian decisions in recent times, which is deeply regrettable. The AAP MP also criticised the central govt, stating that this decision mirrors the dictatorial tendencies of the BJP-led administration. He asserted that the university's actions are clearly influenced by directives from the centre. "The politicisation of educational institutions, he warned, is a highly unfortunate development that poses a serious threat to the education system," he added. MSID:: 121993707 413 |
