Doctor to plead guilty to supplying Matthew Perry with ketamine
A doctor charged with giving Friends star Matthew Perry ketamine in the month leading up to the actor's overdose death will plead guilty. Dr. Salvador Plasencia agreed to plead guilty to four counts of distribution of ketamine, according to the signed document filed in federal court in Los Angeles on Monday. In exchange for his plea, prosecutors agreed to drop three additional counts of distribution of ketamine and two counts of falsifying records. Federal prosecutors said in a statement that the plea carries a maximum sentence of 40 years in prison. They said Plasencia is expected to formally plead guilty in the coming weeks. According to a co-defendant, Plasencia called the actor a 'moron' who could be exploited for money in a text message. The physician had been one of the primary targets of the prosecution, along with a woman accused of being a ketamine dealer. Three other defendants, including another doctor, agreed to plead guilty last year in exchange for their cooperation. Plasencia and the woman, Jasveen Sangha, had been scheduled to face trial in August. Matthew Perry was found dead by his assistant on 28 October 2023. The medical examiner ruled that ketamine, typically used as a surgical anesthetic, was the primary cause of death. The actor had been using the drug through his regular doctor in a legal but off-label treatment for depression, which has become increasingly common. Perry, 54, began seeking more ketamine than his doctor would give him. Perry struggled with addiction for years, dating back to his time on Friends, when he became one of the biggest stars of his generation as Chandler Bing. He starred alongside Jennifer Aniston, Courteney Cox, Lisa Kudrow, Matt LeBlanc and David Schwimmer for 10 seasons from 1994 to 2004. Footage of people escaping burning building falsely linked to India plane crash
"A video of a man jumping from a plane during yesterday's plane crash has surfaced. Watch this video carefully, you will get goosebumps. Another video of the Ahmedabad plane crash is going viral rapidly," reads a Hindi-language Facebook post on June 13, 2025. The Boeing 787-8 Dreamliner bound for London with 242 people crashed between a hospital and a neighbourhood in Ghoda Camp, a residential area in Ahmedabad on June 12, 2025 (archived link). The crash has killed at least 265 people, including 24 on the ground, with the possibility of a higher toll as more remains are found. One man aboard the Air India flight -- carrying 242 passengers and crew -- miraculously survived the fiery crash, which left the tailpiece of the aircraft jutting out of the second floor of a hostel for medical staff from a nearby hospital (archived link). However, the video is unrelated to the Ahmedabad plane crash. A reverse image search on Google using keyframes from the false video found similar footage published on X by the Indian news website Hindustan Times on June 10, (archived link). The caption of the post said, "A major fire broke out on the top floor of the Shabad Apartment complex in Dwarka Sector 13, triggering panic among residents." Another report from the outlet said the fire killed a man and his two children (archived link).
