Revanth Reddy congratulates centre for caste census, says Telangana first to conduct
In a recent statement, Revanth Reddy praised the vision and leadership of Shri Rahul Gandhi, who advocated for a nationwide Caste Census during his historic #BharatJodoYatra. He highlighted that Telangana was the first state to conduct a caste survey since India gained independence, with the last official census of caste conducted by the British in 1931.
The comprehensive social, economic, and caste survey undertaken in Telangana revealed that 56.32 percent of the population belongs to backward castes. In light of these findings, the Telangana State Legislative Assembly has proposed a 42 per cent reservation for Other Backward Classes (OBCs) in education, employment, and political representation.
Reddy noted that the Indian National Congress (INC) in Telangana has taken the initiative to raise awareness about the need for a Caste Census at a national level, including protests at Jantar Mantar in the national capital, urging the central government to acknowledge the demand for a caste enumeration.
He expressed pride in the fact that Telangana's actions have set a precedent for the rest of the country, stating, "What Telangana does today, India will follow tomorrow." Reddy lauded Shri Rahul Gandhi for his influence in shaping policies even from the opposition, asserting that the Telangana government's efforts towards OBC empowerment have resonated across the nation.
In a significant development, the central government has agreed to include a Caste Census in the next national census. Reddy extended congratulations to Prime Minister Narendra Modi and the Cabinet for this decision, acknowledging its potential impact on social equity and representation in India.

Ranchi: Alleging that the state govt has failed to fulfil its promises related to employment, Ajsu-P on Monday said it would start a 'Sarkar Naukri Do' campaign across the state from August 9. Addressing the media with party chief spokesperson Deosharan Bhagat, Sanjay Mehta said that in the first phase of the agitation, his party would submit memorandums to managing directors and the chief executive officers of private companies seeking information regarding the number of local people they employ. "The outsourcing companies would be asked whether they are following the state govt's 75% reservation policy for the locals or not. There is no compliance with reservation in outsourcing of jobs at present," he said. The party would also submit memorandums to recruitment commissions for the timely completion of competitive examinations. The recruitment processes started by the state govt are getting involved in controversies though it promised that the process would be transparent and timely. There are over 2 lakh vacancies in the govt, he further said. Bhagat said resolutions for celebrating the Hul Diwas, to commemorate the fight of Sidu Kahto against the British in Santhal Paragana on June 30, were passed. The party would observe the martyrdom of its founder member, late Nirmal Mahto, on August 8 and Adivasi Diwas and the August Kranti Diwas on August 9. JMM's central general secretary Vinod Kumar Pandey said, "Ajsu-P is losing its relevance as it continues to mislead public. They must answer people that it was during their tenure as a BJP ally, that OBC reservation was reduced from 24% to 14% in Jharkhand. Ajsu-P should first clarify its stance on OBC reservation."

1 2 Ranchi: Cong leader Rahul Gandhi on Monday met with tribal leaders of several states, including Jharkhand, in Delhi to take stock of the issues and concerns of the adivasi population. From Jharkhand, over a dozen tribal workers of the party, including Lohardaga MP Sukhdeo Bhagat, state agriculture minister Shilpi Neha Tirkey, attended the meeting. The party's spokesperson Satish Paul Munjini said that the meeting was aimed at preparing action plans to work for the welfare of adivasi communities.
