Protest held demanding fee regulation
Puttaparthi: Led by State student JAC president Amar Yadav, student activists on Wednesday staged a protest in front of the DEO office demanding control over exorbitant fees charged by corporate educational institutions in the drought-affected district.
The protestors alleged that private institutions such as Chaitanya, Narayana, Keshava Reddy, SR, Bhashyam, Era, Montessori Global, and HPS are collecting amounts ranging from Rs 9,000 to Rs 19,000 in the name of textbooks alone. DEO Prasad Babu reportedly verified this by presenting evidence of book prices.
Student leaders criticised public representatives for turning education into business and demanded their resignation. They further alleged that corporate schools are collecting lakhs of rupees under different streams like C-Batch, M-Batch, Techno IPL, Olympiad, Spark, IIT, and Learning International.
Protesters highlighted lack of playgrounds in these schools, stating that many institutions operate from five or six story buildings, which is against safety norms. They questioned the DEO as to who will be held accountable in case of accidents and demanded strict enforcement of regulations.
In response, DEO Prasad Babu assured that action would be taken against schools violating norms based on the complaints brought forward.

Highlighting other welfare initiatives, he detailed the assistance for women, including gas cylinders for Rs. 500 and free bus services. He mentioned the comprehensive loan waiver of Rs. 23,000 crores for farmers, a record in India, as well as the release of Rs. 10,000 crores for farmer insurance by CM Revanth Reddy. Furthermore, the Rajiv Arogya Sri scheme now offers up to Rs. 10 lakhs in health coverage, and farmers growing sorghum are receiving a bonus of Rs. 500. Additionally, Venkataswamy revealed that sorghum is being distributed to the needy through ration cards. The government is dedicated to constructing homes for every poor individual on plots of 600 yards. He stressed the importance of beneficiary participation in ensuring adequate construction of the houses, reiterating the strict implementation of the Indiramma scheme. Earlier, he had also distributed sanction documents to beneficiaries of Indiramma Indla in Gajwel, where a budget has been allocated for 3,000 double-bedroom houses. In his address, he reiterated the government's commitment to education, healthcare, housing, and farmer welfare.

The Congress claimed on Friday (June 20, 2025) that the Centre and the Bihar government have not fulfilled their promise of cleaning the Ganga and said in the last 11 years, the exercise of ridding the river of pollutants has become just an "election jumla". Mr. Ramesh's attack came after Prime Minister Narendra Modi, in line with his commitment to the conservation and rejuvenation of the Ganga, inaugurated six sewage treatment plants (STPs) under the Namami Gange project, worth over Rs 1,800 crore. The Congress accused the BJP-led Centre and the JD(U)-BJP government in Bihar of not fulfilling their promise of purifying the Ganga and claimed that the condition of the river is such that its water is neither drinkable nor suitable for bathing. Addressing a press conference, party MP Manoj Kumar cited a report to claim that of the 13 STPs built for the Ganga and its tributaries in Bihar, only seven are working. He said the promise made to purify the Ganga water under the "Namami Gange" project has turned out to be false. "Narendra Modi and (Bihar Chief Minister) Nitish Kumar together neither took any step towards flood control nor made the Ganga water drinkable. Even the NGT imposed a fine of Rs 50,000 on the Bihar government," he claimed. Mr. Kumar said that due to the high amount of faecal coliform (FC) bacteria, the NGT has stated that the river's water is neither fit for drinking nor for bathing.

RJD and Congress insulted Ambedkar: PM
Siwan (Bihar), June 20 (UNI) Prime Minister Narendra Modi on Friday charged the RJD and Congress with having no respect for the architect of Constitution Baba Saheb Bheemrao Ambedkar as both the had "insulted" him and that they would never apologise despite demands being made by the people. The PM was addressing a public meeting organised here to launch and lay foundation stones for multiple development projects worth Rs 5,900 crores. While making an oblique reference to RJD chief Lalu Prasad whose video with photo of Ambedkar at his feet had gone viral during his birthday, Modi said that such behaviour reflected that RJD and Congress had no respect for Ambedkar. Modi said that RJD and Congress had no concern for dalits, backwards and the deprived and that they never made any effort to improve their condition when in power.
