Addressing a gathering during the inauguration of 500 family quarters for jawans, a 20-bed hospital, a store building, a tradesmen's shop, and a main barrack to accommodate 180 personnel, the minister said, "CRPF plays a crucial role in safeguarding internal peace and security of the country and their sacrifices are invaluable."
He also said, "The CRPF is one of the finest paramilitary forces in the world. We cannot forget their bravery and sacrifices for the motherland.
Whether it's fighting terrorism and separatism in Jammu & Kashmir, confronting insurgency in the Northeast, or eliminating Maoist threats in central India, CRPF's valour is truly extraordinary."
On the paramilitary force's role during elections, Kumar said, "The deployment of CRPF during state assembly elections across the country reflects the nation's trust in the force. It plays a crucial role in conducting free, fair, and peaceful elections, safeguarding the democratic process.
Currently, the CRPF is playing a key role in countering Pakistan-sponsored terrorism in J&K, restoring peace, and neutralizing terrorists.
They are also crucial in ensuring the safe conduct of the Amarnath Yatra."
He also commended the role of the force, particularly in Manipur, in stabilising the situation and restoring peace in the northeastern state.
"In Maoist-affected regions of Jharkhand and Chhattisgarh, the CRPF operations and initiatives aligned with govt policies have motivated hundreds of rebels to surrender, renounce violence and return to the mainstream," he said.

'Rain No Barrier': Amit Shah Says Naxals Won't Sleep Easy This Monsoon
Last Updated: Amit Shah assured the Maoists that he would wholeheartedly welcome them if they laid down arms and joined the mainstream. Union Home Minister Amit Shah on Sunday said that despite it being the monsoon season, the anti-Naxal operations will continue, also urging the Maoists to lay down arms and join the journey of development while ruling out any talks. His remarks came while he was laying foundation stones for the National Forensic Science University (NFSU) campus and a Central Forensic Science Lab in Chhattisgarh's Nava Raipur Atal Nagar. 'Every time during the rainy season, Naxalites used to get rest (as swollen rivers hamper anti-Naxal operations inside dense forest), but this time, we will not let them sleep during monsoon, and we will move further to achieve the target of 31/3 (2026 to eliminate Naxalism)," Shah said. 'Lay down arms and join the journey of development; no need for talks. Just give up armed struggle and join the mainstream," he added. Shah even assured that he would wholeheartedly welcome them if they laid down arms and joined the mainstream. Whatever promises the Chhattisgarh government and the Centre have made to them will be fulfilled, and we will try to help you even more, he said. Further speaking about Prime Minister Narendra Modi's vision to make India a developed country by 2047, he said, 'It is not focused only on innovation, infrastructure, industrial and economic developments, but ensuring timely justice is also included and three new laws (Bharatiya Nyay Sanhita, Bharatiya Nagarik Suraksha Sanhita, and Bharatiya Sakshya Adhiniyam) will help in ensuring timely justice." Meanwhile, amid the ongoing anti-Naxal operation in Chhattisgarh, a woman Naxalite carrying a bounty of Rs 8 lakh was killed in an encounter with security personnel in Chhattisgarh's Kanker district on Friday morning. The gunfight broke out on a forested hill under Chhotebethiya police station limits when a joint team of District Reserve Guard (DRG) and Border Security Force (BSF) was out on an anti-Naxal operation, Kanker Superintendent of Police Indira Kalyan Elesela told PTI. With the latest action, 212 Naxalites have been killed in separate encounters in Chhattisgarh so far this year. First Published:

Nitish keen to know about Chirag's assembly polls plan: Jamui MP
1 2 3 4 Patna: CM Nitish Kumar has questioned Lok Janshakti Party (Ram Vilas) chief Chirag Paswan's intention to contest the upcoming Bihar assembly elections , despite already being a Union minister with, as he put it, "a bright and long political career ahead". This was revealed by Jamui MP Arun Bharti, who spoke to this newspaper on Sunday. According to Bharti, Nitish asked Chirag, "You are a Union minister, a young leader with a bright future. So, what is the need to contest the assembly elections now?" He also enquired about the constituency Chirag was considering, Bharti said. Chirag has already announced that his party is preparing to contest all 243 assembly seats in Bihar, fuelling speculation about his future political course, particularly as younger leaders such as RJD's Tejashwi Prasad Yadav, BJP's Samrat Choudhary and Jan Suraaj founder Prashant Kishor jostle for prominence in the state's political arena. Bharti, who is also Chirag's brother-in-law, said the conversation took place in a cordial setting in Siwan ahead of PM Narendra Modi's rally on June 20. "I will go by the party's decision in this regard. I will come to seek your blessings before contesting the polls," he quoted Chirag as saying. Bharti added that Chirag reiterated his oft-quoted phrase, "Bihar is calling", while explaining his vision for the state to Nitish. "He told the CM that, like him, he too wants to be directly involved in state politics to take Bihar out of the RJD's 'jungle raj'," Bharti said. Reacting to Chirag's political positioning, RJD leader Tejashwi Prasad Yadav remarked on Sunday, "Chirag should speak openly that he wants to become CM instead of doing the drama of 'Bihar is calling'." Bharti claimed that the RJD was attempting to spread confusion about alleged rifts within the NDA, as they feared a united ruling alliance could reduce the opposition to fewer seats than it secured in the 2020 assembly polls. "In fact, the LJP (RV) is set to host around two lakh people at Rajgir in CM Nitish's home district Nalanda, with his blessings, at the 'Bahujan Bhim Sankalp Samagam' on June 29," he said. Bharti also referred to a letter Chirag wrote to Nitish on June 20, raising concerns about recent amendments to road accident compensation rules in Bihar. "The amendments made recently by the state govt are proving to be complicated and troublesome for the public in practice. In the earlier system, an immediate relief amount was provided to the victim's family through the DM or SDO concerned. Now, the compensation amount will be recovered from the vehicle owner or their insurance company via the transport department. For this, one must go through the claim tribunal process, which is technical and time-consuming, making it impossible for people to get immediate relief," the letter read.

Last 10 years have seen poor youths getting selected for top Civil Services jobs: Jitendra Singh
Union Minister Dr Jitendra Singh said that the last 11 years under the leadership of Prime Minister Narendra Modi have seen a democratisation of India's Civil Services with youths from poor families and remote areas getting selected for the country's top jobs and realising their aspirations. In an interview to Doordarshan News, the minister said that while at one time, the IAS and Civil Services were confined only to a handful of States like Bihar, Tamil Nadu, Kerala etc, today, we get toppers from the States which earlier hardly figured in the civil services list toppers from Punjab, Haryana and J&K. He cited the case of Parsanjit Kour, the young girl from Poonch, a border district in J&K, who made it to All India Rank 11 in the Civil Services Exam of 2022 in very first attempt or the boy from Punjab, Anmol Sher Singh Bedi who got All India Rank 2 in the Civil Services Exam of 2016. This, the Minister said, has restored faith in the objectivity and equal opportunity offered by the system and, thus, also led to democratisation of youth aspiration. 'This is the true essence of democracy -- where every mother, regardless of her socio-economic standing, has the confidence to believe that her child can reach the top," said Dr Jitendra Singh. The Minister said that the 11 years have been nothing short of transformational for India. 'What generations longed for over decades has been made possible in just over a decade,' he stated, adding that PM Modi has wiped the tears of the past and replaced them with eyes full of hope and future aspirations. Each passing year, the Minister said, has marked a new milestone -- be it in infrastructure, governance, technology, or youth empowerment -- creating unprecedented opportunities for every Indian. Union Minister of State (Independent Charge) for Public Grievances and Pensions, Dr Jitendra Singh, stated that under PM Modi's leadership, citizens' self-esteem has been restored. Referring to the PM's historic 2016 call of "Start-Up India, Stand-Up India", he emphasised how it broadened the employment horizon beyond traditional government jobs. 'It was only then people realised that job doesn't only mean "Sarkari Naukri", but also innovation, enterprise, and startups,' the Minister noted. India's biotech sector, he highlighted, is a perfect example -- growing from just 50 start-ups in 2014 to over 10,075 in 2024, with a leap in valuation from $10 billion to nearly $170 billion. He credited this to strong public-private partnerships and forward-thinking policies like Bio-E3 and the National Quantum Mission.
