Poco F7 tipped to launch in India soon with larger battery: Here's what to expect
Poco is set to launch its new Poco F7 smartphone in global markets later this month. Reports suggest the device may also debut in India at the same time. The upcoming model is expected to join the Poco F7 Pro and Poco F7 Ultra, which were introduced in some markets earlier this year. Details about the launch date, specifications, and differences between the global and Indian variants have surfaced ahead of the official announcement.
According to a recent report by Smartprix, the Poco F7 could launch in the third week of June, possibly on June 17 or June 19. The report adds that India may receive the phone on the same day as the global release. The Poco F7 will reportedly resemble the Redmi Turbo 4 Pro, which was released in China. The smartphone is expected to be powered by the Snapdragon 8s Gen 4 chipset and offer up to 16GB of RAM and 512GB of internal storage. It will likely operate on Android 15 with the HyperOS 2.0 interface.

The Poco F7 is set to feature a 6.83-inch flat LTPS OLED display with a resolution of 1.5K and a 120Hz refresh rate. The device will likely have IP68 and IP69 certifications for dust and water resistance and a metal middle frame. The phone will also include an IR blaster.
For photography, the Poco F7 is expected to house a dual rear camera setup. This includes a 50MP primary sensor paired with an 8MP secondary sensor. On the front, the phone should feature a 20MP camera for selfies and video calls.

The Indian version of the Poco F7 may come with a larger 7,550mAh battery, while the global variant is expected to have a 6,550mAh cell. Both versions will support 90W wired fast charging.

Earlier in the year, Poco introduced the Poco F7 Ultra and Poco F7 Pro models in select markets. The Ultra runs on a Snapdragon 8 Elite chipset and includes a 5,300mAh battery, while the Pro features a Snapdragon 8 Gen 3 processor with a 6,000mAh battery. Both phones have a 50MP Light Fusion 800 primary rear camera. Additionally, the Ultra model offers a 50MP telephoto lens with 2.5x optical zoom.

He added that 99.2 per cent of mobile phones sold in India are now made in India, up from just 26 per cent in 2014-15. Malviya further said that under the PLI scheme for electronics alone, 1,39,670 direct jobs have already been created. As many as 1.8 lakh new companies were registered in 2023-24, marking a 16 per cent increase over the previous year, he said. "Electronics exports hit USD 38+ billion in FY24-25, a 32 per cent year-on-year increase," Malviya said. "PLI allocations for electronics rose from Rs 5,747 crore (FY24-25) to Rs 8,885 crore (FY25-26) - a clear signal of continued commitment," he added. Malviya said the government has approved landmark semiconductor projects worth Rs 1.52 lakh crore, "a critical leap into deep-tech manufacturing". Overall, electronics production is projected to reach USD 300 billion by 2026, he said.

YouTuber Gaurav Taneja, also known as Flying Beast, lauded the Air India pilots for refusing to fly unsafe aircraft after the unfortunate crash in Ahmedabad on June 12. Contrary to this, the ex-pilot revealed that airlines habitually overlooked the safety measures, resulting in such tragic incidents. He ruled out bad weather as one of the significant reasons behind the incident and went on to explain the loopholes of the airlines. In a well-informed video on his YouTube channel, Taneja highlighted the safety standards in the Indian aviation industry while addressing various theories about the tragic Air India Flight 171 crash. He said the dual-engine failure was possibly the only reason the Air India flight crashed. 'In the event of bad weather, the aircraft warns the pilots to either delay takeoff or abort takeoff… A 787 has two radars, one on the left and one on the right. For dispatch, it is necessary for at least one to be functional," he said. He continued, 'If the aircraft has 100 pieces of equipment, the rulebook says that it can function even if 30 of them have failed. For instance, an aircraft can fly safely with even one functional weather radar. This is made to operationally assist the airline," further mentioning, 'Let's go with the theory that one engine failed on the ground and the other failed after takeoff… This theory makes a little sense. Further, highlighting the safety standards of the airlines, he said, 'A pilot told me that aircraft are in a pathetic state. Remember I told you about the MELs (Minimum Equipment Lists), and that a plane can fly with even one working radar? These snags are quite common. Every flight has snags. But they have a habit of overlooking these snags." At least 274 people, including 241 of the 242 onboard the London-bound Air India flight, died when the Dreamliner 787-8 crashed moments after take-off in Ahmedabad.
