"Under his leadership, India has emerged as world's fourth-largest economy": Sarbananda Sonowal hails PM Modi

New Delhi [India], May 25 (ANI): The Union Minister of Ports, Shipping & Waterways (MoPSW), Sarbananda Sonowal on Sunday congratulated the people of India on the country's rise as the world's fourth-largest economy, crediting the achievement to the astute, dynamic, and strong leadership of Prime Minister Narendra Modi since 2014, according to the official statement.
In an official statement hailing India's historic transformation in the last decade, the MP from Dibrugarh called upon the citizens of the country to commit to the cause of nation-building and work sincerely towards realising Prime Minister Narendra Modi's vision of 'Viksit Bharat'.
Addressing a gathering at the 'Mann Ki Baat' listening event and 'Tiranga Yatra' held at Booth No. 112 in West Mandal on Sunday Sarbananda Sonowal said, 'Prime Minister Narendra Modi ji's 'Mann Ki Baat' has consistently inspired the citizens of the nation through transformative ideas and stories of courage from across the country. Listening to today's address once again left me inspired. The Prime Minister has urged all citizens to dedicate themselves to building a developed and self-reliant India. Under his leadership, India has emerged as the world's fourth-largest economy.
'We must commit ourselves to taking this journey of growth and prosperity to even greater heights and ultimately achieve Modi ji's vision of a Viksit Bharat,' he added.
Joining the Tiranga Yatra to celebrate Operation Sindoor's success, Sonowal paid tribute to the valour of India's armed forces and credited their fearless dedication and PM Modi's resolute leadership for the mission's success. Along the route, Sonowal also interacted with rickshaw pullers and labourers to thank them for their service to society.
The Dibrugarh MP in Lok Sabha, Sarbananda Sonowal, said, 'Shramiks are one of the key driving forces of our great nation. Meeting these hardworking individuals has always been a source of joy and inspiration for me. I thank them for their hard work towards the service of society. After interacting with them, I felt encouraged and grateful to this wonderful country where everyone is working towards building a better tomorrow under the dynamic and inspiring leadership of PM Narendra Modi ji. The unshaken smiles of Shramiks, even in the face of hardship, are what keep us going. They always inspire me. The Modi government remains committed to its holistic welfare and development.'
Later in the day, Sarbananda Sonowal unveiled a full-sized statue of the revered Matak monarch, Swargadeo Sarbananda Singha Dev, at Koilabari in Sadiya. The ceremony drew community members, dignitaries, and cultural leaders who gathered to honour the enduring legacy of one of Assam's most iconic rulers.
Speaking at the occasion, Sonowal paid glowing tribute to the Matak king, emphasising his historical significance and visionary leadership.
Sonowal said, 'The life and legacy of Swargadeo Sarbananda Singha Dev reflect a profound commitment to public service, justice, and the welfare of his people. His unwavering dedication to his motherland continues to inspire our national spirit. As we unveil this full-sized statue at Koilabari in Sadiya, I urge everyone--especially the younger generation--to draw strength from his ideals and dedicate themselves with sincerity and responsibility to the cause of nation-building. Let his example guide us in our collective journey toward a more just, united, and prosperous India.' (ANI)

After evacuation from Iran, Indians express relief; 827 brought back so far

The Indian government's Operation Sindhu has successfully evacuated 827 Indian nationals from conflict-hit Iran, with the latest flight landing in New Delhi on Saturday. The evacuees, including students and pilgrims, shared their experiences of the tense situation in Iran and praised the efforts of the Indian embassy and government. With this, a total of 827 Indians have been evacuated." Nadeem Asgar, an evacuee, told ANI, "I am thankful to my nation for keeping us safe there and bringing us back safely. As soon as the situation went south, we were evacuated by the embassy. I am very thankful to the Indian government." Farzana Abdi echoed similar sentiments, "We are coming back from Iran. There was a lot of fighting and missiles there. The Indian embassy helped us a lot and brought us here. We are very happy to be back in India. India is the best." Riyazul Hasan described the dire situation in Iran, "The situation is not good there. We saw from our hotel window that the missiles were coming, which were being intercepted mid-air. We are relieved to be back here. We came through the embassy. We thank PM Modi." Fatima expressed her gratitude to the Prime Minister, "I am very grateful to PM Modi. Now I feel at peace after coming back to my country. Being back in your homeland is a matter of great joy." Almas Rizvi praised the Indian embassy's support, "We were given accommodation in a good hotel and given lunch, dinner, everything, on time. It feels good to be back in our country. Earlier in the day, International Atomic Energy Agency (IAEA) Director General Rafael Grossi said, a centrifuge manufacturing workshop in the central Iranian city has been struck, making it the third nuclear-related facility targeted in Israeli attacks since June 13, Al Jazeera reported. Minister instructs officials to expedite land acquisition and railway projects in Hassan

Hassan: Union minister of state for railways and Jal Shakthi, V Somanna, instructed authorities to acquire 503 acres of land for the Belur-Hassan railway line and transfer it to the railways within a month. At a meeting at the deputy commissioner's office with officials from the railway, KPTCL, RITES, and the revenue department on Friday, Somanna emphasised that railway officials should take greater responsibility and float tenders to complete the project within two years. KPTCL officials were directed to complete work related to power lines and substations within the stipulated time. He also instructed that measures be taken to resolve the landslide issue on the railway route in the Sakleshpur area within four months. Officials were instructed to complete modernisation works at the Arasikere railway station at a cost of Rs 34 crore, Hassan railway station at Rs 22 crore, and Sakleshpur railway station at Rs 26 crore within the stipulated time. MP Shreyas Patel suggested providing an additional passenger train from Arasikere to Mysuru and a new railway line from Dudda to Tiptur for public convenience. India has made it clear that it will not reinstate the Indus Waters Treaty with Pakistan, which was suspended following the April 22 terror attack in Pahalgam, Jammu and Kashmir. The attack, which killed several civilians, including tourists, was backed by Pakistan-based groups, though Pakistan has denied any involvement. In an interview published Saturday in the Times of India, Union Home Minister Amit Shah ruled out any possibility of resuming the 1960 treaty, terming it unfair to India. 'It will never be restored,' Shah said. 'We will take the water that was flowing to Pakistan to Rajasthan by constructing a canal. Pakistan will be starved of water that it has been getting unjustifiably.' The Indus Waters Treaty, brokered by the World Bank, allocated the three western rivers (Indus, Jhelum and Chenab) to Pakistan and the three eastern rivers (Ravi, Beas and Sutlej) to India. It also provided for cooperative arrangements on hydropower and irrigation between the two neighbours.
