Washington Commanders' running back Brian Robinson Jr. knows that the 2025 season will be a crucial one for him and his NFL future.

With B-Rob entering the final year of his rookie deal, he knows that he must show that he deserves a contract next season, and he will get ample opportunities to prove he can be "the" guy for Kliff Kingsbury.
In each of his three seasons, Robinson totaled at least 700 rushing yards, including a career-high eight rushing touchdowns last year, as he led the Commanders in that category.
But this is a new year, and Robinson Jr. is making a promise as he knows he has to take his game up a level.
'I need to take my level of focus up a notch or two,' Robinson Jr. said to JP Finlay. 'Definitely it's a big year not only for me but for a lot of guys around here too, definitely want to stay focused and get ready for a long season ahead of us. Step by step, just attack the process and be ready for everything that comes.'

In what is an interesting scenario, Robinson Jr., Austin Ekeler or Jeremy McNichols are all out of contract at the end of the 2025 season, so there could be some change coming for the running back room.

Granted, Robinson Jr. is the lead back, and he needs to put on a show behind Jayden Daniels. Yet to play a full season, 2025 would be the perfect time for B-Rob to do that, surpass 1,000 yards, and earn himself a new contract.
Of course, that is easier said than done, but to achieve it, everything starts in the offseason, and Brian has been doing what he needs to do to best prepare himself for a career-defining season as a Commander.
And he'll let the chips fall where they may.

Petrovic, Alker, Ricardo Gonzalez share lead at Firestone in PGA Tour Champions major

AKRON, Ohio (AP) — Tim Petrovic shot a 4-under 66 on Friday for a share of second-round lead with Steven Alker and Ricardo Gonzalez in the Kaulig Companies Championship, the third major of the year on the PGA Tour Champions. Petrovic closed with a birdie on the par-4 ninth to match Alker and Gonzalez at 5-under 135 at Firestone South. Alker, from New Zealand, had a 66. Gonzalez, the Argentine player who shared the first-round lead with Soren Kjeldsen, shot 68. Miguel Angel Jimenez was a stroke back after a 66. Freddie Jacobson was 3 under after a 67. Angel Cabrera, who already has won two majors this year at the Regions Tradition and the Senior PGA Championship at Congressional, was 1 under after a 68. The winner of the tournaments gets a spot in The Players Championship at the TPC Sawgrass next year. Firestone South previously hosted the World Series of Golf and then a World Golf Championship. It's a strong test for players who next go to the U.S. Senior Open in Colorado. ___ AP golf:

'Save Girls Sports' rally rocks California sports league meeting amid state's trans athlete battle vs Trump

Print Close By Jackson Thompson Published June 20, 2025 California's conflict over trans athletes is heating up this summer. The California Interscholastic Federation (CIF)'s executive committee meeting was met by a swath of loud protesters on Friday. The state's growing "Save Girls Sports" contingency, led by the California Family Council, showed up outside the meeting with t-shirts, signs and even a podium for a press conference. CLICK HERE FOR MORE SPORTS COVERAGE ON Multiple female athletes, parents and state education officials spoke out against the CIF and Governor Gavin Newsom for the policies that have allowed trans athletes to compete in girls' sports, sparking several controversies in the state over the past year alone. California Family Council and outreach director Sophia Lorey also boasted a petition at the event, which has at least 20,074 signatures of Californians urging the CIF and Newsom to change the state's gender eligibility policies. Martin Luther King High School students Taylor Starling and Kaitlyn Slavin, who have filed a lawsuit against the Riverside Unified School District over a situation involving a trans student at their school, headlined the athlete speakers. Starling shared her story of losing her varsity spot on the cross-country team to the trans athlete, while having her "Save Girls Sports" t-shirts compared to swastikas. TEEN GIRLS OPEN UP ON TRANS ATHLETE SCANDAL THAT TURNED THEIR HIGH SCHOOL INTO A CULTURE WAR BATTLEGROUND "This isn't fair, girls like me are being told to sit down, smile and be quiet, and give up what we worked so hard for, and now we're the ones being excluded from our own teams," Starling said. Slavin spoke in support of her teammate Starling. "An example of this negative domino effect is Taylor's mental health now being affected, leading to her family being affected," Slavin said. "With Taylor being one of my best friends, I am now upset but also confused about how this is even allowed. Now my family is being affected, trying to be there for me, but also having to step up and do their part to make a change." California filed a lawsuit against the Justice Department earlier this month after officials demanded that the state's public high schools confirm they will bar transgender athletes from competing in girls' sports. The state said in its lawsuit that the Justice Department had "no right to make such a demand" and cited "no authority which would allow them to issue or enforce the Certification Demand Letter" to each local education agency. CLICK HERE TO GET THE FOX NEWS APP California defended the laws that have come into question, which allow athletes to participate in sports "consistent with" their gender identity and doesn't violate the Equal Protection Clause of the Fourteenth Amendment. The DOJ initially announced an investigation into the CIF for its state policies in late May, leading up to the girls' track and field state championship that featured trans athlete AB Hernandez competing in several events in the female category. The DOJ's announcement of that investigation cited Starling and Slavin's lawsuit. Follow Fox News Digital's sports coverage on X , and subscribe to the Fox News Sports Huddle newsletter .
