Chase and Status bring perfect mix of epic tunes to storm gig at Co-op Live
Chase & Status, Co-op Live, Manchester
As the sun set on a gloriously, sweltering day in Manchester, the city's Co-op Live was packed to the rafters and ready to party.
It might not have been quite as hot as the desert of Coachella, but Chase & Status continued their 2025 gigs with all the fire you'd expect from electronic music trailblazers Saul Milton and Will Kennard.
The London duo were back in the city that holds a special place in their hearts on Thursday night, for a gig of the most epic proportions.
The tunes came thick and fast for 90 minutes, blending the older and new songs to absolute perfection.
Flames and lasers shot out across a stadium that bounced and raved, seemingly without a care in the world, as belter after belter delighted the crowd of thousands.
With Saul and Will DJ-ing firmly behind their signature light-up 'C' and 'S', a host of show-stopping MCs kept the night flowing: 'We wouldn't be here if it wasn't for the beautiful people of Manchester. Make some noise for yourselves!', before launching into Blind Faith.

Other songs on the setlist from the 2011 album No More Idols included the gloriously angry Let You Go, party-starting No Problem, and delightfully depressing End Credits.
The thing that Chase & Status do so beautifully, along with their collaborators, is blend great lyrics with drum n bass, dance, rave, and jungle, creating big beats like no other.
And a word to the venue. This is the fourth time I've been to the Co-op Live, and I'd say this gig was the one that really showed it off. Hats off to Chase & Status for the epic production because they brought it – but the incredible acoustics of the arena along with the pyrotechnics and lights was next level.

'Where's the ravers at? Where's the mosh pit crew?' came the shout from the stage during NRG. And they were there in spades. I hardly saw a single person sat down for the duration of the gig.
The number one with Stormzy adorning the screens – Backbone - was obviously a highlight as was Becky Hill collab Disconnect, and Liquor and Cigarettes with ArrDee giving it large on stage.
Too many to mention but a final shout-out goes to support act 4am Kru, what a warm-up. They made the stage their own and with a crew as solid as Chase & Status, that was a hard act to follow.
An incredible night, if you've got a ticket for the rest of the tour then you're in for a treat.

The Most Embarrassing Celebrity Moments
Starting strong with Vanessa Hudgens' seriously wild response to COVID-19 lockdowns — and their potential impact on Coachella — during an Instagram Live in March 2020: "Terrible, but like, inevitable?" remains a core part of my lexicon to this day. Moving on, there's that seriously awkward time when James Corden couldn't name a single cameraman who worked on his Late Late Show, and opted to drink fish smoothie instead: Watch here: How about when Lorde dramatically shushed the crowd to deliver her, erm, somewhat divisive vocals a cappella. You can watch the video here. And speaking of divisive vocals, Millie Bobby Brown's impromptu performance of John Lennon's "Imagine" literally lives rent free in my head. Watch here! Then there's that time a TikToker shared the awkward video Ben Affleck sent her after she unmatched him on Raya because she thought he was a catfish: Thinking about it, TikTokers and celebrity men don't exactly have a great track record — who could forget Adam Levine's cringey extra-marital sexts (to multiple different women!) leaking? Alongside the claim that he wanted to name his and his wife's son Sumner, which is the same name as one of the woman he cheated with. Idk about you, but I'm forever wondering what Bella Hadid was thinking when she let us know what sneakers homeboy needed to wear if homeboy wanted to get it. And I'm still cringing over Tom Holland telling American-born Eric Nam that he speaks "great English." And, at one point, Hailey Bieber was physically down bad for Justin Bieber. The notorious video of Justin skateboarding away from paparazzi and Hailey tripping over — as in, literally falling to the ground — as she tries to run after him genuinely haunts me. "Go Hailey, don't fall! Don't fall!" How about that time Jennifer Lopez confidently strutted up to her old home in the Bronx and told the owner that she used to live there, only for him to have no clue who she is? You can watch the full, awkward clip below: And speaking of misplaced confidence, remember when Usher seemed pretty certain that he'd be placed in the middle when a whole bunch of celebs got together to sing "We Are The Champions" for Jimmy Fallon? I still need to know what exactly was going through John Travolta's mind when he introduced Idina Menzel as Adele Dazeem at the 2014 Oscars: Let's relive the moment together: Not to mention the time that same year when Rita Ora was "hacked," but all that those pesky hackers did was send a tweet reading: "Dropping my new song monday if this gets 100,000 retweets." When the tweet was still hovering at less than 2,000 retweets a while later, Rita followed up with: "By the way my Twitter got hacked somebody is threatening to release new music I've worked really hard on. Nothing comes out until I'm ready. Or the bots insist on it! When it's ready we will drop music! Luckily I caught the hacker really quickly and deleted the post. Thank you!!" So lucky, Rita! But Rita isn't the only celeb with an X faux pas up their sleeve. Personally, if I were Patrick Schwarzenegger, I would have been kept awake at night when my sassy tweets about Austin Butler being cast in the upcoming American Psycho movie resurfaced amid my own campaign for the role... I also need to remind you all of the time that Ryan Seacrest tried to high-five a blind American Idol contestant: Watch below: And that time Kendall Jenner genuinely seemed to believe that she could achieve world peace with a Pepsi: Finally, how could I not mention that genuinely infamous Kelly Osbourne The View moment? In the sense that— Rewatch below... If you're strong enough: Whew, that was a lot. Let me know your thoughts — and any moments I've missed — in the comments below!
