New Delhi: Following reports that Diageo, its parent company, might sell its stake in the Royal Challengers Bangalore IPL team, United Spirits' stock rose over 3% on Tuesday. While social media speculated this was a response to RCB's 2025 IPL victory, United Spirits subsequently denied these reports.
'This has reference to your email communication dated 10 June 2025 seeking clarification from the Company on media reports in relation to potential stake sale of RCB. The Company would like to clarify that aforesaid media reports are speculative in nature and it is not pursuing any such discussions,' United Spirits told the Bombay Stock Exchange and BSE Surveillance Department.

'There is so much mudslinging and finger-pointing going on, but the issue is simple — the event should never have been allowed without proper arrangements in place. The authorities failed, and the team management should also have ensured fan safety before participating in the so-called celebrations.'

Majhi said the Odisha government has secured an investment proposal of Rs 17 lakh crore in just two days after Modi's call to the industries during a conclave held earlier this year. So, it wasn't only the last five; it was a bit of a collapse. We were expecting better than that, but it can happen,' he said. Kotak lauds Shubman Gill Kotak said a busy calendar in the last few months did not give him a lot of time to work with skipper Shubman Gill, who he thought has worked on certain areas since the end of Australia tour. 'After Australia (tour) he has thought (about) certain things which he implemented,' Kotak said. 'Because after (the) Australia (tour) and England series (followed by) Champions Trophy and then we had IPL, I wouldn't say that I had a lot of time to do things (with Gill).' 'But obviously, he worked on certain things and as soon as I saw him in the nets, I did speak to him that 'you made certain changes' and he said yes. A lot of credit to him for analysing what he needs to do and I think he did it really well,' Kotak said. But I think after 350 for three, you expect to get a big score because that time you are sitting in a comfortable position. I don't think people were satisfied at all,' he said. 'It is just (how) they (England) bowled well and (there were also a) couple of soft dismissals. 'After losing the toss the way we batted it was very good because at Headingley, normally on Day One, a lot of wickets get taken by the bowling side and results also show the same so we batted well on the first day,' he added. Kotak on Bumrah's wicket off a no-ball In the final minutes of the second day's play, Jasprit Bumrah (3/48) overstepped on a delivery which he had Harry Brook caught at midwicket. 'Normally, it doesn't happen, but it was a bit unfortunate. But I think, as a group of support staff or as a team also, it is one of those things which happen,' he said. Government may slow down declaring more state highways as National Highways

Representative Image NEW DELHI: In a major policy change, the Centre is preparing a model to provide financial assistance to state govts for one-time improvement of state highways rather than declaring more of these as NHs. The road transport ministry will instead focus on building more new greenfield highways and expressways. This comes after PM Narendra Modi's direction to the ministry to come up with a model by July end for the purpose. State govts will maintain the upgraded state highways. TOI has learnt that in the last infrastructure review meeting, Modi had asked the ministry to come up with innovative models for supporting state highway projects and connecting non-major ports under state govts. This change in approach gains importance considering that in the last 11 years, govt has notified conversion of 55,000 km of state highways to NHs and now, the total length of NHs stands at 1.46 lakh km. This has been highlighted as one of the biggest achievements of govt. Sources said that after expanding the NH network, now there is a need to focus more on widening them and maintaining them. Data shows that till March, India has more than 63 lakh km of road network.
