The copper succumbed to serious injuries after being attacked by villain Mick Michaelis (Joe Layton).
Speaking on This Morning, Colson shared to presenters Ben Shepherd and Cat Deeley: "I knew - I had a meeting at 7pm one night after work and I was in the Rovers all day.
"I was sat there kind of not saying anything but my brain was, "I know what's coming tonight".
"I told Jack and Ben - my two best mates at work. Tonight's the night, I'm getting binned. That's what we call it.
"I was like, "Tonight's the night, will you be there for me? So they were there and I went up to the boss.
"She looked at me and went, 'this isn't going to be an easy conversation. I was like, "Well, let's just go and have it."
Craig's final scenes saw him try to arrest Mick for driving under the influence - as well as over concerns he'd hurt wife Lou (Farrel Hegarty).
Unfortunately, Mick overpowered the young policeman and brutally attacked him with a bat - leaving Craig for dead.
Much of Craig's final episode followed him being taken to hospital where he later passed away.
Kirk (Andy Whyment), Maria (Samia Longchambon), Asha (Tanisha Gorey) and PC Jess (Donnaleigh Bailey) watched in horror as Craig was declared dead.

It comes as Colson issued bosses a clear demand after learning he'd been axed.
The 26-year-old has ruled out reprising the role of Craig as a ghost or in a flashback.
Speaking after his final appearance, Colson revealed he wouldn't be making a post-death appearance like so many of his other colleagues.
He said: 'Yeah, I did say I won't be coming back as a ghost.
'I was like, the day I leave will be the day that I leave.'
'It feels like it's done. It feels like it's finished, like I've got everything that I've got from Coronation Street and that's it now.
'So it felt very much like a thank you, goodbye, goodnight type thing, because I know there's no return for Craig and Colson in the future.
'I have spoke to people who have left and not been killed and I just feel like, for me, it was 100% the right way to kind of know that I'm not coming back.'

Coronation Street star shares loved-up snap as she confirms relationship

Corrie favourite Cait Fitton finally gave fans a glimpse of the new boyfriend she soft-launched on Instagram, as she shares images of her sweet birthday decorations to celebrate Coronation Street actress Cait Fitton has made her new relationship Instagram official, after sharing a birthday post for her mystery boyfriend. The 23-year-old, who plays Corrie's Lauren Bolton, teased her new partner a few weeks back, telling fans her "boyfriend" had bought her a Jellycat toy. But now, she's taken her new romance to the next level, having shared a photo on her story showing some silver '23' balloons, as well as a photo of what appears to be her boyfriend. She sweetly wrote: "A day celebrating you," following her message with a white loveheart emoji. ‌ Her previous story post showed a collage of images of her with her partner, with Cait writing: "Happy birthday to my man." She added: "Thank you for blessing my life." ‌ The snaps showed them posing for a selfie, as well as a fun photo of them glammed up posing together. Another photo showed them holding hands, but she's still not named her new partner. Cait, who has been a regular on the cobbles since 2022, recently opened up about the difficulties of fame, admitting it took her a "long time" to get used to being recognised. Wanting to keep her relationship private in its early stages seems a natural choice for the star. She told the Mirror: "It's taken me a long time to have thick skin, it's not an overnight process. We are normal people outside of filming, but everyone sees the characters as actual people. That can be really hard, especially with Lauren, who is a complex character." Cait has been getting used to working without her close pal Paddy Bever, who played on-screen boyfriend Max Turner, after his character was arrested and imprisoned for arson. She added: "It's been really hard without Paddy. ‌ "My journey started with him, and his time ended with me. It was strange to wrap my head around doing scenes without him. I miss working with Paddy." Although the pair, who even went on holiday together in 2023, no longer see each other at work, they are still good friends. Cait added: "I am in touch with him. We're both very busy, but we do catch up. We are in need of an in-person catch-up soon." While Cait's personal life is settled and content, her character Lauren is about to have her world turned upside down, after the actress teased an upcoming plotline. Having overcome abuse at the hands of Joel Deering, which ended in his death, and welcoming her baby son Frankie, Lauren's had plenty of trauma to deal with. ‌ But just as things are looking up for the troubled barmaid, it's all about to go downhill, according to Cait. She explained: "She's at a really stable point of her life. She has a job at the Rovers behind the bar, and she's learning the craft. She's trying to build relationships. That's where the party comes in.' Lauren's chance to let her hair down quickly descends into chaos when Aadi (Adam Hussain) and Bernie (Jane Hazelgrove) decide to throw a midsummer party. When Lauren arrives with Dylan, Brody and Betsy, she realises Brody has brought some LSD. ‌ What begins as a chance to let loose quickly spirals into disaster for Lauren. The chaos kicks off when Aadi (Adam Hussain), nudged by Bernie (Jane Hazlegrove), throws a midsummer party. Cait revealed: "Lauren doesn't even know what is going on. She has anxiety over whether or not she should even be there because she doesn't know anybody apart from Betsy. She seems out of place, though she tries her best to fit in.' When Cait accidentally takes the hallucinogenic drug, the night goes south. Cait added: "She has a traumatic experience with it. We see a side of her that we haven't seen for months. "Her trauma is going to affect her future. It's going to be a rollercoaster. Everybody at that party - their lives are going to be changed. I don't know how she'll go through it."

Here's the full preview: Things get heated between Meg and Malisha It is not only the Spanish sun that is heating up the villa, Meg and Malisha get into a heated discussion in the garden again. Alima comforts Malisha in the dressing room. Advertisement Hide Ad Advertisement Hide Ad After hearing her side, Alima has some thoughts on the situation, heading out to the kitchen to tell Meg and the group: 'I'm not gonna lie, that wasn't nice to see both of you, all the shouting…let's be nice to people.' Meg says: 'I said [to Malisha] I don't want you to feel like this, you're now mugging me off and being disrespectful - I don't want to argue with her.' Shea and Harry in Love Island series 12 episode 7 | ITV Shakira adds: 'I don't think she [Malisha] was being disrespectful going to the Hideaway.' Meg replies: 'That's your opinion, not mine.' Meanwhile that evening, Toni and Conor debrief about where they stand and more importantly where he stands with new bombshell Emily. The next day, Meg is keen to bury the hatchet and pulls Malisha for another chat. Meg says: 'Third time lucky, we're gonna get it right this time…' But is third time really the charm? 'Got the Receipts' - Islanders get more than they bargained for in challenge Toni in Love Island series 12 episode 7 | ITV Later that afternoon, Tommy receives a text revealing the Islanders will be taking part in the first challenge of the series. The text reads: Islanders, it's time to check out the facts in today's challenge: Got The Receipts! #ProofOfPurchase It's a game of slip and slide along a special Love Island-style shopping till, that sees the Islanders slide down a conveyor belt, swipe their card and pick up a receipt, which reveals a fact about an Islander of the opposite sex. They then have to decide who they think the fact is about and kiss their chosen person, before finding out if they got it right. Advertisement Hide Ad Advertisement Hide Ad Ben's up first with a receipt detailing an Islander that was stopped with handcuffs in her suitcase. He's sure it's Helena and gives her a snog, but it was really Malisha. Conor reckons the girl that answered the phone during sex to accept a potential job offer is Toni and they kiss, but in true triangle style - it's Emily. Meanwhile three of the boys - Harry, Dejon and Shea - have actually been busy making a secret pact to completely ignore the receipt questions and just pick the girl that they secretly want to kiss, with the trio agreeing to back each other up with their choices. But which girl does Harry secretly want to kiss? And when Dejon gets the chance to lock lips, is it Meg or Malisha that he's making a beeline for? Advertisement Hide Ad Advertisement Hide Ad When it's Shea's turn to put their plan in action, he chooses to snog Megan, as Tommy watches on. Then it turns to the girls to slip and slide and they learn some surprising facts about the boys. Yasmin is correct to guess which Islander slept with a 50 year old woman at the age of 19, while one boy is called on to explain why he dumped a girl on FaceTime. And Harry surprises the Islanders when his own receipt is cashed in… Harry, Dejon and Shea's 'plan' comes back to bite them Later that evening, Tommy finds it suspicious that Harry, Dejon and Shea all ended up kissing the girls that they were most interested in outside of their own couples…Harry owns up to their plan telling him: 'We were all like, boys lets just forget the question and just say who you wanna kiss - so Shea was like I wanna kiss Megan, when he read it out, me and D said, 'That's Megan!'' Advertisement Hide Ad Advertisement Hide Ad A stunned Tommy replies: 'Oh my god, f****ng hell! What do you think will happen tonight then? That will all come out?' Harry adds: 'The girls are gonna find out!' Tommy then takes Megan to the Terrace and lets her know what he's been told. Megan reels and says: 'We f***ing knew it!' Tommy says: 'Shea said, 'When it's my turn say Megan' - I think that's out of order. I don't like confrontation, but I will stand up for what's right.' Getting more riled Tommy adds: 'He failed, you shut him down and he's still going for it, the only reason I think he's doing that is to piss me off and he's f***ing done it.' Advertisement Hide Ad Advertisement Hide Ad As word of the boys' plan spreads around the Villa, the penny is starting to drop with some of the Islanders about the choices that were being made in the challenge. And while Harry protests 'It's only a challenge' Tommy makes the decision to pull Shea. As the other Islanders watch on, it seems the conversation isn't going as smoothly as it was playing on that slip and slide… Have you got a story you want to share with our readers?
