'Karma Is Unforgiving': India Cricketer's Cryptic Post After Harshit Rana Added To Test Squad

India are set to face England in a five-match Test series that will get underway from Friday in Leeds.
The Indian men's cricket team is in the final stages of their preparations for the five-match Test series against England that starts from Friday in Leeds. An 18-man squad was named last month by the BCCI for the tour but there has been a last-minute addition in an extra fast bowler for the series opener.
Right-arm pacer Harshit Rana has linked up with the Test squad after being part of India A squad that faced England Lions in a two-match Unofficial Test series. The 23-year-old played in the first match and finished with 1/99 from 27 overs.
A day after the announcement, fast bowler Mukesh Kumar shared a cryptic post on Instagram. 'Karma bides its time. You will always have to watch out. Karma is unforgiving and always gets payback," the Mukesh shared on his Instagram stories.
Mukesh was also part of India A squad for the tour. Like Harshit, he too played in the first unofficial Test in Canterbury but returned better bowling figures than his teammates. In 25 overs, he took 3/92 that included the scalps of centurion Max Holden and England Lions captain James Rew.
The 31-year-old made his Test debut during the West Indies tour of 2023 and has so far taken 7 wickets from three matches. He was part of India Test squad for Australia tour in 2024-25 as a traveling reserve but was released midway through the series.
Meanwhile, Rana's inclusion has come under criticism with former India fast bowler Dodda Ganesh saying he doesn't understand the team management's 'obsession' with the 23-year-old.
'Anshul Kamboj should have been added to the squad. Don't understand this obsession with Harshit Rana," he shared on X (formerly Twitter).
Rana made his Test debut on Australia tour and has so far taken four wickets from two matches.
The England tour is India's first assignment of the new ICC World Test Championship cycle that got underway with the Sri Lanka-Bangladesh series in Galle earlier this week.

On Day 1, Pant remained unbeaten after scoring 65* off 102 balls, and showed maturity, alongwith aggression. He took on Ben Stokes on just his second ball, slamming him for a four, straight down the ground. But after that, he showed maturity as he was cautious against Shoaib Bashir, registering only 16 off his next 44 balls. His approach left Gavaskar visibly impressed. Speaking on Sony Sports, he said, 'It seems like that's how he plays. When he comes in to bat, on the second or third ball, he often uses his feet and hits a boundary. It makes him feel free and then allows him to play the way he wants. Over here, he's been measured in his approach—giving himself time out in the middle. But once he's in and the bowlers start to tire, that's when he begins to step down the pitch and really attack, hitting big shots, sixes, and boundaries.' 'Because he gives himself that time early on, it becomes easier for him to play those aggressive strokes later. When he defends, he seems to have so much time against the pace bowlers—it almost looks like he's taking the mickey out of them, saying, "Look, I've got all the time in the world; I don't need to play a big shot, I'm just middling the ball. He's got enormous talent. I've seen him score hundreds in South Africa and Australia, and they've been absolutely unbelievable. There's such a great blend of defence and attack—starting with solid defence and then shifting to attack,' he further added. India reached 359/3 at Stumps, and Pant (65*) will resume batting with new captain Shubman Gill, who got a ton. Gill remained unbeaten at 127* off 175 deliveries.

'It is my desire, my will to do well': Jaiswal opens up on his mindset while batting

Leeds [UK], June 21 (ANI): Following his maiden ton in England on Friday, Indian opener Yashasvi Jaiswal opened up and revealed his mindset and temperament while batting in the middle during the game. The left-hand batter played an exceptional innings of 101 runs off 159 balls, laced with 16 boundaries and a maximum in his innings. Speaking on his mindset while batting, Jaiswal said in a video posted by BCCI, "It is my desire, my will to do well. Whenever I come here, these things stay in my mind. I want to do well for my team and my country. I enjoy practising alone and preparing. I keep trying that every ball that I play will help me in difficult situations. Further, the 23-year-old player spoke about the intra-squad game between India and India A which was played at Beckenham, Kent's second home venue, where he faced right-arm seamers Jasprit Bumrah and Harshit Rana.
