Salman Khan's rumoured girlfriend Iulia Vantur answers if their association overshadowed her career: ‘I feel grateful he believed in me'

Indian Express24-04-2025

Iulia Vantur, the rumoured girlfriend of Salman Khan, has been making headlines for reprising Lata Mangeshkar's iconic song, Lag Ja Gale in the actor's recent release Sikandar. The Romanian actress, who marked her debut in Bollywood with the 2014 film O Teri, slowly shifted to music and has made a name for herself around the world. She accompanied Yo Yo Honey Singh for his tours, performed with Jason Derulo as well as gave opening performance for Ricky Martin's concert in Dubai last year.
While Iulia has been in the industry for over a decade, she is often addressed as the 'rumoured girlfriend of Salman Khan ' than an actor or singer in her own right. Recently, she reacted to her association with the Bollywood superstar and revealed whether or not it overshadows her work.
She told Times of India that she feels honoured to have been guided by Salman Khan, who has such vast experience in the industry. Without sharing the impact of her connection with Salman on her work and identity, Iulia shared that she is grateful that the Prem Ratan Dhan Paayo star believed in her abilities.
Iulia and Salman have been rumoured to be dating each other for a very long time with the Romanian actress always being a part of all the family gatherings and celebrations at Salman's household. Despite the rumours, both the singer or Salman have never opened up about their relationship.
While Salman remains unmarried at 58, Iulia, who is 44 says her life is guided by love and she is making decisions based on that when asked about her thoughts on marriage.
In the past, Iulia had quashed the rumours of her dating Salman Khan. In 2018, she told Times Now, 'Salman Khan is a good friend. I am aware of the gossip. Most of it is not true. But, I cannot stop people from spinning stories. I have a lot of respect for Salman. At the same time, I have no idea where life is taking me.'
Giving credits to Salman for her career in India, Iulia said, 'I had never planned to come to India to work. There was no ambition, no fool-proof plan. Salman is a good friend and he guided me, encouraging me to sing. I never thought that I would be able to sing in Hindi but he supported me. I started singing because of him. I had no plans to be a part of Bollywood but I also like surprises at the same time.'
Iulia often makes headlines for accompanying the Khan family on their vacations and parties. She was recently spotted with Salman Khan in Jamnagar, a day after Sikandar's trailer launch event in Mumbai.

'Sitaare Zameen Par' box-office report: Aamir Khan's comeback film earns just Rs 11.7 crore in two days

Day-One Numbers Fall Short of Expectations A New Chapter Inspired by a Classic Meet the Fresh Faces An Adaptation with a Purpose Although Sitaare Zameen Par received heartfelt applause from moviegoers, its performance at the box office has been unexpectedly modest. The film, positioned as a follow-up to the widely celebrated 2007 classic Taare Zameen Par, had high expectations pinned to it. However, according to statistics shared by tracking platform the film brought in only ₹11.7 crore over its first two days in its debut day, Sitaare Zameen Par managed to earn ₹11.5 crore, but this figure failed to surpass the opening tally of Aamir Khan's previous film, Laal Singh Chaddha, which collected ₹11.7 crore when it hit cinemas back in 2022. The comparison between the two films highlights the relatively tepid reception for the latest release, especially given the momentum built by fan anticipation. Meanwhile, another big-ticket movie, Sikandar, starring Salman Khan, opened to a far stronger box office response with a collection of ₹26 crore, significantly outpacing Aamir's new by director R.S. Prasanna , Sitaare Zameen Par acts as a spiritual continuation of Taare Zameen Par, which was deeply loved for its sensitive portrayal of a dyslexic child's journey. While the themes may resonate with the original, this latest installment offers a completely fresh storyline and setting. Rather than focusing on a singular child's experience, Sitaare Zameen Par introduces a vibrant ensemble of ten young actors who form the heart of the movie marks the screen debut of several new talents, including Aroush Datta, Gopi Krishna Varma, Samvit Desai, Vedant Sharma, Ayush Bhansali, Ashish Pendse, Rishi Shahani, Rishabh Jain, Naman Mishra, and Simran Mangeshkar.
