Although Sitaare Zameen Par received heartfelt applause from moviegoers, its performance at the box office has been unexpectedly modest. The film, positioned as a follow-up to the widely celebrated 2007 classic Taare Zameen Par, had high expectations pinned to it. However, according to statistics shared by tracking platform Sacnilk.com, the film brought in only ₹11.7 crore over its first two days in theatres. On its debut day, Sitaare Zameen Par managed to earn ₹11.5 crore, but this figure failed to surpass the opening tally of Aamir Khan's previous film, Laal Singh Chaddha, which collected ₹11.7 crore when it hit cinemas back in 2022. The comparison between the two films highlights the relatively tepid reception for the latest release, especially given the momentum built by fan anticipation. Meanwhile, another big-ticket movie, Sikandar, starring Salman Khan, opened to a far stronger box office response with a collection of ₹26 crore, significantly outpacing Aamir's new venture.Helmed by director R.S. Prasanna , Sitaare Zameen Par acts as a spiritual continuation of Taare Zameen Par, which was deeply loved for its sensitive portrayal of a dyslexic child's journey. While the themes may resonate with the original, this latest installment offers a completely fresh storyline and setting. Rather than focusing on a singular child's experience, Sitaare Zameen Par introduces a vibrant ensemble of ten young actors who form the heart of the film. The movie marks the screen debut of several new talents, including Aroush Datta, Gopi Krishna Varma, Samvit Desai, Vedant Sharma, Ayush Bhansali, Ashish Pendse, Rishi Shahani, Rishabh Jain, Naman Mishra, and Simran Mangeshkar. These rising stars play a group of specially abled individuals who come together as a team, offering a unique narrative dynamic that blends drama with inspiration.Sitaare Zameen Par draws its central plot from the Spanish film Campeones. In the Indian adaptation, the story centers on Gulshan, a basketball coach who finds himself suspended from duty. As part of his community service sentence, he is assigned to coach a group of players with intellectual and developmental disabilities, guiding them towards competing in a major sports tournament. Through this journey, the film aims to shed light on inclusion, second chances, and the power of belief.
