2025 GMC Sierra EV Denali Gets Max Range, Tesla Supercharger Smarts: Review

EDMONTON, CANADA APRIL 13: A 2025 GMC Sierra EV Denali Max Range on display at the Edmonton Motor ... More Show on April 13, 2025, in Edmonton, Alberta, Canada. (Photo by Artur Widak/NurPhoto via Getty Images) The GMC Sierra EV Denali Max Range is a new breed of GM EVs that eliminates range anxiety. The easy Tesla Supercharger access is icing on the cake. The Denali EV I tested this week showed over 500 miles of range when I did a full charge. Delete range anxiety. The icing on the cake was I did all of my charging on Tesla Superchargers with an adapter provided by GM (see video at bottom). The best analogy I can come up with is heaven and hell. Tesla superchargers are paradise compared to the hell of competing networks. A massive Tesla Supercharger location with 76 chargers. The GMC Denali EV in the distance. Welcome sight: a massive Tesla Supercharger network near Tejon Pass, California After spending the day on Mount Pinos in the Mojave Desert, we did a quick search for the nearest Tesla Superchargers since the Denali came with a NACS (Tesla) adapter. To our surprise there was a new Supercharger location near Frazier Park at the base of Mount Pinos. And it was all super-fast V4 chargers. But we decided to skip that (maybe next time) and travel on to the Tejon outlets near Grapevine (a section of interstate 5). At Tejon Outlets, we were surprised to find a massive Tesla supercharger location with 76 chargers and almost no users. It was simply a matter of plugging in, then charging commenced. During the time I was charging, there was only the Denali and two other Teslas. What a difference! After spending years using competing charging networks and experiencing untold amounts of waiting and frustration, it was cathartic. The Denali has Tesla charging integrated into the charging screen. So, the infotainment screen will populate with the Tesla Supercharger locations. Then you just select your location and the specific Tesla charger and start charging. The GMC Denali EV goes the distance In 2025, many EVs on the market max out at a little over 300 miles of range. That's fine. That works for the vast majority of EV owners. But some people need the kind of range you get on a gas car. And that's what GM is aiming for. The beauty of a 500-mile range EV is that it takes a lot of long-distance driving to run down the battery. If you're not always able to home charge and on the road often, that's a godsend. And, again, it's even better if you have access to the best charging network out there: Tesla's. In the video above I demonstrate how easy it is to now charge at Tesla Superchargers on a GM vehicle. General Motors will make it even easier later this year when it begins including native NACS charging ports on its cars. That in itself will eliminate a major obstacle to buying a non-Tesla EV. I know. Because Tesla owners are always telling me how the EV hoi polloi (non-Tesla world) are tethered to an inferior public charging network.

Keep an eye on this FTSE 100 stock in the week ahead

Bunzl's (LSE:BNZL) set to issue a trading statement on Tuesday (24 June). And the last time the FTSE 100 company did this, the results were dramatic. The stock fell 25% when the firm released its Q1 results in April. So I think it's worth paying close attention to both the business and the stock in the coming week. Bunzl's Q1 update essentially amounted to a profit warning. And according to conventional stock market wisdom, these things are rarely isolated incidents. The firm reported weakness in both revenue and margins, especially in its North American business. Part of this is due to the macroeconomic environment, but not all of it. Bunzl's been attempting to shift its business in two major ways. One is by centralising its sales operation and the other has involved attempting to focus more on own-brand products. Neither has been a success in the short term and has resulted in the loss of a major customer. But the question for investors now is whether there's more bad news to come. Bunzl's also announced an action plan to try and resolve its US issues quickly. But this might be ambitious and losing a major customer might not be reversible in the short term. That means there's absolutely scope for the upcoming trading update to reveal more bad news. But the company's been decisive in its moves to try and limit the damage. In light of the macroeconomic uncertainty in the US, Bunzl's changed its capital allocation priorities. The firm's paused its share buyback programme to focus on its balance sheet. That generally isn't an encouraging sign for investors, but it might prove to be a good one. In general, I prefer it when companies err on the side of caution when it comes to resilience. Despite the recent difficulties, I think the stock's one to keep an eye on. More specifically, I'm impressed by the firm's long-term growth prospects. Bunzl has an outstanding record of growing through acquisitions. This can be risky, but the company has a key advantage when it comes to limiting the inherent danger. In general, buying businesses is most risky when the acquisitions are large and unrelated to a firm's existing operations. But the industry Bunzl operates in is highly fragmented. This gives the company more opportunities to identify relatively low-risk targets. And management thinks it still has a strong pipeline ahead in terms of future growth. I'm still firmly of the view that Bunzl's fundamentally a very good business that's facing a number of challenges at the moment. Some of these are of its own making. I do think however, that these are temporary. But the market seems to have other ideas and is pricing the stock as though the company has a permanent problem. If I'm right, then Bunzl could well be one to keep an eye on. And this week's trading update should give investors a chance to get a clearer picture. 2 world-class growth shares to consider buying during a stock market crash

It's always a smart idea to have a shopping list of shares at hand. This is what I had in April when the proverbial hit the fan, saving me valuable time deciding which stocks to buy when many suddenly went on sale. Two on my list were Shopify and Nvidia, and I took my chance when things quickly went south. Those positions are currently up 40% and 51% respectively since early April. Here are two shares that look overvalued, but which I think investors should consider putting on a shopping list for the next bear market or crash. The first is Axon Enterprise (NASDAQ: AXON). As well as owning the Taser brand, the company sells body-cams, dash-cams, and various software products to law enforcement customers. It's also innovating in drones, VR training, and powerful artificial intelligence (AI)-powered tools. Last year, revenue jumped 33% to $2.1bn, up from $681m in 2020. Over $1bn of that is now annual recurring revenue, while total future contracted bookings rose to $10.1bn. The company continues to scale up very impressively. This rapid progress is reflected in the share price, which has vaulted 700% in three years. The key risk now then is valuation, with the shares trading at 27 times sales. If Axon's growth underwhelms, the stock could sell off heavily. But I think this is definitely one to consider picking up during any such sell-off. The enterprise growth opportunity's very large. Take body-cams, for example. In an attempt to reduce attacks on staff, Walmart's piloting black-and-yellow body-cams in some stores (Axon's signature colours). Management points out that Walmart has 2.1m retail workers, far in excess of the 900,000 cops in the US. What about airlines? Cabin crew are no strangers to abusive behaviour. Cameras can provide evidence, reduce false claims, and deter aggression. They would integrate with Axon's cloud-based evidence system, adding to the recurring revenue. Meanwhile, the company's sitting on a library of video data that's roughly 40 times larger than that belonging to Netflix (NASDAQ: NFLX). Axon's using this vast data trove to train AI models and power a growing suite of tools, embedding it ever deeper into customers' daily workflows. Looking ahead, the international opportunity in Europe, Latin America and Asia remains largely untapped. Returning to Netflix, I think the global streaming leader is worthy of consideration. But perhaps not right now around $1,220. This price puts the stock at 13 times sales and 49 times forward earnings. Again, this stretched valuation leaves very little margin for error, particularly if subscriber growth unexpectantly slows. Long term though, I'm bullish on Netflix. The firm possesses an incredible brand and streaming still has plenty of room to grow globally. It also offers fantastic value for money. At £12.99, my Netflix subscription's probably one of the last discretionary things I would cut. The new ad-supported tier is just £5.99 a month — less than the price of a pint in London nowadays! I think Netflix can keep increasing prices for years without losing too many subscribers. The firm has set a goal of reaching a $1trn market-cap by 2030, up from $520bn today. I think that's achievable, especially if cutting-edge generative AI helps it make content for less money.
