Prince Harry immigration records must be made public, U.S. federal judge rules

The Department of Homeland Security has until the end of Tuesday to comply with a federal judge's order and release Prince Harry's immigration records, which could reveal if he disclosed prior drug use before coming to America, according to court records.
U.S. District Judge Carl Nichols had previously ruled in favor of the Heritage Foundation, a conservative think tank that's been seeking the records for several years under the Freedom of Information Act (FOIA).
Drug use itself isn't a disqualifying factor for a visa, but lying about it could be a greater challenge. In theory, if the younger brother of future U.K. king Prince William didn't disclose drug use on his visa application, that could be grounds to have him removed.
In his 2023 memoir "Spare," Harry admitted to using cocaine, among other drugs.
'Of course I had been taking cocaine at that time. At someone's house, during a hunting weekend, I was offered a line, and since then I had consumed some more,' he wrote in a Spanish language version of his book.
'It wasn't very fun, and it didn't make me feel especially happy as seemed to happen to others, but it did make me feel different, and that was my main objective. To feel. To be different.'
The federal government has fought efforts to air Harry's paperwork, saying the 'request does not meet the public interest standard set forth" in FOIA guidelines, according to defense lawyers.
However, Judge Nichols has ruled in favor of the plaintiffs and on Saturday said he'd reviewed proposed redactions from the government.
"Those redactions appearing appropriate, the government is ordered to lodge on the docket the redacted versions of those documents no later than March 18, 2025," Nichols ruled.
Administration officials and representatives for Prince Harry could not be immediately reached for comment on Monday.
Prince Harry, who is also called "his Royal Highness Prince Henry Charles Albert David George of Wales, the Duke of Sussex, the Earl of Dumbarton, and Baron Kilkeel K.C.V.O.," stepped away from the royal family in early 2020.
He, his wife Megan Markle and their children, Archie and Lilibet, live near Santa Barbara.
'I don't want to do that,' Trump said before taking aim at Markle, who has been critical of the president. 'I'll leave him alone. He's got enough problems with his wife. She's terrible.'

British woman found alive after four days drifting in Mediterranean

A British woman who went missing on a boat she had hired on a Spanish island has been found alive. A major search operation was launched on Wednesday evening after the 39-year-old failed to return the 15-foot motorboat to the rental firm at Formentera's La Savina port as scheduled. Her concerned friends raised the alarm after the woman, who lives on the Balearic Islands, failed to return from her trip. She has now been rescued adrift by a ferry covering the Ibiza to Valencia route. She is understood to have been transferred to a hospital in Valencia. Her condition this morning was not immediately clear. The rescue is said to have occurred around 5pm yesterday. There has not yet been any official statement from the Civil Guard, although they confirmed today the woman had been found alive. The vessel she had lost her way in – a cream-coloured Quicksilver 475 Axess with a Mercury outboard motor – has been towed to Ibiza by the coastguard. The missing woman had been named locally as Mary Gavin after it emerged she was missing. Police divers took part in the search for her on Thursday after Civil Guard and Spanish coastguard helicopters and boats were mobilised. Speaking this morning, a Civil Guard spokesman said: 'The British woman who vanished after hiring a boat in Formentera on Tuesday morning has been found alive.' The police force had said on Friday in its first official comments about the disappearance: 'The missing woman is a 39-year-old British national who hired the boat in the port of La Salina in Formentera on Tuesday morning. 'She was supposed to return it around 6pm on Wednesday and when she didn't her friends became worried and raised the alarm. 'From the time she was reported missing on Wednesday evening a search operation was launched which continued throughout the day yesterday. 'She hasn't been found yet nor has the boat she was on. 'The Civil Guard's Judicial Police unit has been investigating this woman's disappearance but two vessels belonging to our Maritime Unit were mobilised yesterday along with one from the specialist sub-aquatic GEAS unit. 'The officers from the Maritime Unit conduct the searches from speedboats and the GEAS are essentially diving specialists.' More Trending A police source said last week the missing woman had been living on one of the Balearic islands for around two months, although it was not immediately clear if the island is Ibiza or Formentera. A Spanish Coastguard spokeswoman said they had received an alert about the missing Brit just after 8.30pm on Wednesday and had immediately mobilised a helicopter and boat to assist in the search. Police have not yet said exactly where the woman was when she was rescued or explain how she managed to go so badly adrift. It is unclear how much experience she had at sea. Prince Harry has revealed he 'would love a reconiliation' with his Royal relatives. A royal expert has shared that Prince Harry wishes 'he had done things differently' when it comes to the 'royal rift' with his relatives in the UK. However, while the Duke of Sussex recently shared that he would love to reconcile with his family, the expert doesn't see this happening any time soon. Former royal editor Duncan Larcombe believes that the young prince is likely having regrets regarding the strained relationship between himself and his father King Charles III and older brother Prince William, but he does not think there are any signs of this currently improving. ‌ After losing his battle with the High Court over the state security entitled to his family, Prince Harry spoke about the current relationship with King Charles. He said that his father "won't speak to me because of this security stuff." ‌ Since speaking out, Duncan - who is the author of Prince Harry: The Inside Story - has told the Mirror that he had no doubt that Harry wishes "he'd done things differently", but their family ties still seem to be a very long way from being resolved. He adds that this would make any trip to the UK incredibly difficult without the high level security. "At big royal events, the security you actually see is the tip of the iceberg. There are a lot of undercover officers and agents working, too. ‌ "Without the official support and security, Harry and Meghan are left with two or three bodyguards who are pretty blind to what the potential threats are," says Duncan. While Meghan seems to be thriving back in the US with the launch of her As Ever lifestyle brand and Netflix series, With Love, Meghan, the mum of two is still hugely worried about her nearest and dearest. ‌ A source said: "In some ways she's feeling stronger and she wants to share that. But she's still terrified of putting her kids at risk by coming back to the UK – any parent would panic if they were in Meghan's shoes. "So even though Harry is really feeling the absence of his dad, especially after Trooping the Colour and Father's Day, the security stuff will probably always be an issue. "He knows that things could've been so different if things had gone another way, but it's been five years since they left the UK and the chances of them coming back, even for a visit, seem slim to none.
