About 8.5 lakh applications received in Revenue Sadassus and 60% of them resolved: Minister Ponguleti
Revenue and Housing Minister Ponguleti Srinivasa Reddy said the Congress government was systematically cleansing the revenue system that was plagued by corruption and mismanagement during the decade-long BRS rule. Speaking at a review meeting with officials on Saturday, the Minister stated that the recently concluded State-wide revenue sessions have ushered in a new era of transparency in land administration. Stating that the outreach was extensive, the Minister revealed that 10,725 revenue sessions were conducted in three phases across 593 mandals, during which a total of 8.58 lakh applications related to land issues were received. In the first phase (April 17 to 30), 72 revenue sessions across 4 mandals were held and 12,000 applications were received. In Phase-2 (from May 5), 414 sessions across 28 mandals were held and 46,000 applications were received. In the last phase (June 3 to 20), 10,239 sessions were held across 561 mandals and 8 lakh applications were received. The highest applications were received in Khammam (67,000) followed by Bhadradri Kothagudem (61,000), Warangal (54,000), Jayashankar Bhupalapalli (48,000) and Nalgonda (42,000). The Minister noted that more than 60% of issues, excluding those involving title complexities, have already been resolved, reflecting the responsive nature of the new system introduced by the government. He said special efforts were made to make the process accessible and transparent. On the eve of each revenue conference, free application forms were distributed to farmers in villages. Special MRO-led teams received applications without collecting any fees and provided receipts on the spot. Out of the total received, 3.27 lakh applications have already been digitised and registered online. The Minister alleged that the revenue system, once destroyed and paralysed by political negligence, was now being rebuilt with the trust of the people. The implementation of the Bhu Bharati Act was launched on April 14 by Chief Minister A. Revanth Reddy.

NATO leaders to meet amid Israel-Iran conflict: What's on the table?
NATO leaders will gather in The Hague, Netherlands, from June 24 to 25, for a summit aimed at strengthening the Alliance's deterrence and defense posture amid mounting global threats. Heads of State and Government from all 32 member countries, including US President Donald Trump, are expected to attend. The meeting comes at a time when West Asia has seen escalating tensions owing to the Israel-Iran conflict. The two-day meeting will focus on strengthening collective defense, increasing military spending, and maintaining unity within the Alliance. According to NATO, a central agenda item is ensuring the Alliance has the necessary resources, forces and capabilities to face any threat. The summit is expected to produce a commitment from European allies to increase defense spending—a key demand from Trump, who has previously criticised NATO members for not meeting the 2% GDP target. However, ahead of the 2025 Hague Summit, he escalated his demand, urging European allies to boost spending to 5% of GDP—including 3.5% for core military and 1.5% for defense-related infrastructure and cybersecurity. Ahead of the summit, Trump clarified that the United States should not be required to meet the same 5% GDP defence-spending target he demands of NATO allies, as per reports by Politico. Despite the push for increased budgets, many NATO states still fall short of fulfilling capability commitments. Rutte has also warned, as per BBC, that Russia could attack a NATO country within five years. The BBC reports that the summit has been carefully tailored to avoid confrontation with President Trump. The final communiqué has been shortened to five paragraphs and the main discussions limited to three hours—moves interpreted by some analysts as efforts to accommodate Trump's preferences and preserve Alliance cohesion. Mark Rutte, seen as having a cordial relationship with Trump, is reportedly seeking to give the US President a win on defense spending while avoiding deeper rifts over trade, Russia, and Middle East conflicts. Ukrainian President Volodymyr Zelensky will attend the summit dinner but will not participate in the main North Atlantic Council discussions. Though Russia's war in Ukraine remains one of the gravest threats to European security, discussions on Ukraine and Russia have reportedly been excluded to avoid tensions with the US delegation. Kurt Volker, former US ambassador to NATO, told the BBC: The US 'does not see Ukrainian security as essential to European security, but our European allies do.' Dutch authorities have launched the largest security operation in the country's history, as per BBC, for what will be NATO's most expensive summit to date, with a reported budget of €183.4 million ($210 million). 'Baseless': TTD Refutes Former Chairman's Allegations On Vedic Chanting In Tirupati
Last Updated: The TTD, however, strongly refuted the allegations, calling them baseless, politically motivated, and harmful to the institution's global reputation. Former Tirumala Tirupati Devasthanams (TTD) Chairman and senior YSRCP leader Bhumana Karunakar Reddy has criticised the TTD administration and the ruling NDA government for allegedly compromising the sanctity and traditions of the Tirumala Sri Venkateswara Swamy Temple. Speaking to the media in Tirupati, Reddy condemned the comments of a TTD official who suggested that Vedic chanting in the Sriwari temple was unnecessary and should be discontinued. Describing these statements as 'sacrilegious" and 'arrogant," Reddy asserted that all four Vedas are continuously recited in the temple, and highlighted that the TTD operates six Vedic schools to promote these ancient scriptures. He also mentioned that several religious leaders had raised concerns about these issues with RSS chief Mohan Bhagwat, which led to TTD officials being reprimanded. The TTD, however, strongly refuted Reddy's allegations, calling them baseless, politically motivated, and harmful to the institution's global reputation. In an official statement, the TTD clarified that the recitation time has been increased and the divine chant 'Om Namo Venkatesaya' now resonates throughout the temple premises, including queue lines, Annaprasadam halls, and footpaths. Officials stated that the reforms were introduced to enhance transparency and improve services for devotees.
