Here's the 1 Netflix Movie I Can't Wait to Watch in June 2025

Yahoo11-06-2025

Two years ago, the world was gripped by the story of the Titan submersible disaster, in which an unregulated undersea vessel was crushed during an attempt to visit the wreckage of the Titanic.
Everyone on board the vessel was lost, including Shahzada Dawood and his son, Suleman Dawood, Hamish Harding, Titanic expert Paul-Henri Nargeolet and Stockton Rush, the pilot of the Titan and the CEO of its parent company, OceanGate.
The story behind this tragic event is told in Titan: The OceanGate Disaster, a new documentary coming this month. It's also my pick for the one Netflix movie I can't wait to watch in June.
These events played out in the public eye in June 2023, but the backstory of Rush and his apparent disregard for the dangers involved are part of the film's primary focus.
Missing Titanic Submarine Pilot Is Married to Descendent of Shipwreck's Victims
Director Mark Monroe spends a good deal of time unraveling Stockton Rush, a man whose dreams of fame were only truly achieved by his death and by the way it happened. The people who worked alongside — and for — Rush describe him as someone who wanted to be known as the next Jeff Bezos or Elon Musk. He was also, by his own words, less than concerned about the safety of his company's activities.
The portrait of Rush that emerges in Titan: The OceanGate Disaster isn't very flattering, as he refused all warnings and silenced all whistleblowers who tried in vain to rein him in before it was too late. In the trailer above, one of the documentary participants says that Rush was "a borderline psychopath" who was impossible to manage as the boss of his own company. He paid the price for his hubris, but he wasn't the only one.
This question is explored at length in the documentary itself, but the short answer is that Rush opted to have the Titan constructed with materials that weren't meant to be used for a deep-sea submersible vessel. There's a reason why there aren't many underwater excursions to the Titanic's wreck. It's nearly 3,800 meters beneath the surface of the ocean, and that's a depth that the Titan could only reach so many times before it imploded from the pressure.
James Cameron Reacts to Titan Submersible Tragedy: 'I'm Struck by the Similarity of the Titanic Disaster Itself'
There are several pictures and video clips of the Titan itself in this documentary, and you may be horrified to learn that Rush and his other pilots controlled the vessel's movements with an off-the-shelf video game controller. Rush catered the Titan to wealthy tourists, but some of them were understandably horrified by how unsafe the vessel appeared to be. That response may have saved their lives.
No. For the most part, the film's focus is on Rush and the creation of the Titan and the origin of OceanGate. There's always room for more documentaries about the other victims in the future, but almost everything about this event centers on Rush himself.
It seems inevitable that someone will make a scripted movie about Rush in the future. For now, Titan: The OceanGate Disaster may be the definitive word on what happened.
Titan: The OceanGate Disaster will stream on Netflix on June 11.

3 underrated movies you need to watch in June 2025

It's been a strong few weeks at the box office. Lilo & Stitch and Mission: Impossible — The Final Reckoning powered a record-breaking Memorial Day box office. While Ballerina stumbled the week after, the live-action How to Train Your Dragon got off to a fantastic start with an $84 million opening. June still has several high-profile releases coming, including 28 Years Later, Elio, and F1. Many of these movies are sequels and IP-based projects, which tend to release during the summer blockbuster season. However, there are several underrated movies to watch this month. Some of these projects, like Ash, can be streamed at home. Recommended Videos When you're done here, check out the best new movies to stream this week, the best movies on Netflix, the best movies on Hulu, the best movies on Max, the best movies on Amazon Prime Video, and the best movies on Disney+. Ash (2025) Ash is exactly what a B-movie should be. Directed by Flying Lotus, Ash follows Riya Ortiz (Eiza González), an astronaut who wakes up in a space station on a foreign planet with no memories. As Riya explores the station, she finds several crew members have been brutally slaughtered. The key to Riya's questions lies with Brion (Aaron Paul), a fellow astronaut who comes to the station after receiving a distress call. At first, Riya cannot comprehend what happened to the crew. As she experiences flashbacks, Riya starts to consider that perhaps she had something to do with her team's demise. Ash doesn't reinvent the wheel, but it packs a punch thanks to starry visuals, gory action, and a standout performance from González. Stream Ash on Shudder. Echo Valley (2025) Julianne Moore and Sydney Sweeney star in Echo Valley, Apple TV+'s thriller ripped directly from the '90s. Written by Mare of Easttown's Brad Ingelsby, Echo Valley introduces Kate Garrett (Moore), a horse trainer on her farm in Pennsylvania. Kate's life is in shambles after the loss of her wife, which affects her ability to pay the bills and keep the farm running. Kate's daughter, Claire (Sydney Sweeney), mistakenly throws a heroin stash in the river, leading to an explosive confrontation with the drug dealer on the farm. A few nights later, Claire shows up covered in the blood of her boyfriend. Kate now tackles the question faced by many parents: How far are you willing to go to protect your child? Stream Echo Valley on Apple TV+. Dangerous Animals (2025) It's fitting that a new shark movie comes in the same month that Jaws celebrates its 50th anniversary. While a great white shark plays the villain in Jaws, a serial killer becomes the primary antagonist in Dangerous Animals. Tucker (Jai Courtney) runs a cage diving business, recruiting tourists to swim with sharks. Yet Tucker has a dark secret — he feeds his passengers to the sharks and films their deaths. For his next victim, Tucker kidnaps the rebellious surfer Zephyr (Hassie Harrison) and shackles her on his boat. Zephyr won't go down without a fight, which surprisingly excites the eccentric Tucker. Courtney lets it all go to play this flamboyant serial killer, while Harrison's star-making performance shines in this effective summer thriller. Dangerous Animals is now in theaters.

The Young and the Restless spoilers: Victor's harsh punishment for Adam?

When you buy through links on our articles, Future and its syndication partners may earn a commission. Over the years, we've come to learn a few things about The Young and the Restless' Victor Newman (Eric Braeden). He's a shrewd businessman, able to hold a grudge longer than anyone in Genoa City, a masterful tactician when it comes to his enemies and he demands loyalty from his family. Unfortunately for his family members, loyalty and obedience are often synonymous terms in his book. Knowing what we know, we don't see Adam's (Mark Grossman) refusal to do his father's bidding at Newman Media ending well. Victor has told his youngest son several times now that he wants Adam to use Newman Media to publish attack pieces against Billy (Jason Thompson), painting the Abbott as incompetent and an imbecile, among other things. However, Chelsea (Melissa Claire Egan) has been in Adam's ear, telling him not to go after Billy. Call it guilt for cheating on Billy with Adam or a platonic love for Billy for helping bring her out of a dark time in her life, but Chelsea is adamant that Adam not use Newman Media to tear Billy down. So far, Adam has managed to stall his dad and honor Chelsea's request. That hasn't been easy, as Victor has been rather insistent and Billy has been poking Adam with insults. But before Victor left for Aristotle Dumas' party, he made one final demand of his son. Fast forward to The Young and the Restless episode airing on June 16, and Adam tells Chelsea that he won't do what Victor asked and will just face the consequences when The Mustache returns to Genoa City. We can't help but suspect that while Chelsea is proud of Adam, Victor will likely be furious. The Newman patriarch may even retaliate, and the father/son duo could again find themselves at odds. If we had to guess, there's a good chance that Victor fires Adam for the umpteenth time and puts someone else in charge as CEO of Newman Media. That would be a real shame, considering Adam worked so hard over the last two years to earn his father's trust and be welcomed back into the family business. But hey, Holden (Nathan Owens) is currently on the market for a job in Genoa City, so who's to say Holden can step into Adam's role? Even if Victor doesn't fire Adam completely, there's always a chance he demotes Adam to COO of Newman Media and gives Adam a boss. That could still be Holden, or perhaps he places Nick (Joshua Morrow) in the company's CEO chair. After all, with Victoria (Amelia Heinle) already as CEO of parent corporation Newman Enterprises and Victor far from retired, does Nick need to aid his sister? One thing we don't think Victor will do is kick Adam and Chelsea out of the other Newman Ranch. He's still a family man after all. However, Victor doesn't like it when people go rogue when he gives explicit instructions, so Adam should definitely brace himself. New episodes of The Young and the Restless air weekdays on CBS. Episodes become available to stream on Paramount Plus the next day.

Rock Legend Says His Kids 'Ignore' His Success

Rock Legend Says His Kids 'Ignore' His Success originally appeared on Parade. Bruce Springsteen is one of the most iconic musicians of all time - but his three kids are unphased by his success. In and interview with The Times published on Saturday, June 21, the legendary rocker shares that his three kids - Evan, 34, Jessica, 33, and Samuel, 31 - do not display his memorabilia in their New Jersey family home. 🎬 SIGN UP for Parade's Daily newsletter to get the latest pop culture news & celebrity interviews delivered right to your inbox 🎬 "Except for a few guitars and a piano, you wouldn't know musicians lived here," Springsteen, 75, said of the home he shares with wife and fellow E Street Band member Patti Scialfa. "The kids grew up in another house in town, a midsized home not unlike the ones their friends lived in, and we tried to keep a very natural domestic existence for them. Anything else is a burden they don't need." Springsteen, who described himself as an "attention whore", also told The Times that his children couldn't care less about his musical success. "They ignore it," the Born in the U.S.A. singer said. "They might come to a show, bring their friends, but it's never been a central part of their lives." The interview comes shortly after Springsteen's biopic, Deliver Me From Nowhere, started making headlines. The film, which will star The Bear's Jeremy Allen White as the iconic rocker, will offer an intimate look at the making of Springsteen's album Nebraska, blending his rise to superstardom with a raw glimpse into his early life in Freehold, New Jersey. Deliver Me From Nowhere will be released in theaters on Oct. 24, 2025.
