Amerie split from her husband two years ago.
The 1 Thing hitmaker revealed she and Lenny Nicholson - with whom she has seven-year-old son River - have quietly parted ways and are in the process of getting divorced.
Speaking on Way Up with Angela Yee, Amerie, Muni Long and Jasmine Linford were discussing relationships and the host noted: 'Amerie been locked in for a long time."
But the 45-year-old star said: 'I was, but not now."
The trio seemed surprised and while talking over one another, Amerie mentioned the word "divorced".
Jasmine said: 'I missed that memo."
Referring to an appearance on the Joe Budden Podcast, Amerie said: 'Because everyone didn't know that. I only mentioned it with Joe. I told him about it. We talked about it. It came up inadvertently.'
She then clarified she and Lenny - who she met in 2007 and married in 2011 - are currently "going through" their divorce but had separated in 2023.
Angela noted: 'It takes a short time to get married and a long time to get divorced."
The Paradise singer replied: 'That's what they say."
Amerie was then asked if she is looking forward to dating again.
She noted: 'Well, it's been a couple of years since we've been separated."
Despite the relationship ending, Amerie doesn't regret her marriage.
She said: 'All the relationships that we have I believe we have them because we're supposed to learn something, and so everything is a blessing. So I don't believe in, like, placeholders … everything is a lesson to help you grow.'
And when she is looking for a new partner, Amerie wants to find someone who can "amplify" her.
She said: 'One thing that's important, too, is to remember you want to find someone that you can amplify, that amplifies you.
'Because sometimes — and this is not necessarily my situation — but when I really started looking at it and I really started thinking about how people pair off and what that is ... You can be with someone where you stay the same. You can be with someone that can dim your light, and maybe you dim their light. You can be with someone who amplifies you and who you amplify.'

'The older Black women and me, we got a thing': Sterling K Brown knows his fanbase

Sterling K. Brown has a "thing" with "older Black women". The This Is Us actor - who has sons Andrew, 13, and Amare, nine, with wife Ryan Michelle Bathe - acknowledged his popularity within a "certain set" after his friend Natasha Rothwell joked her parents' marriage almost ended in divorce because of her mom's crush on him. In conversation for Variety's Actors on Actors series, Natasha said: "You're so charismatic and easy to watch. You almost broke up my parents' marriage. [My mother] loved Army Wives. "I thought, 'If [Sterling] comes up here and ruins 47 years of marriage, I'm going to be upset.' " Sterling noted: "I'm big with a certain set. The older Black women and me, we got a thing." The 49-year-old actor caused a stir with a shower scene in his latest drama series Paradise, and Sterling admitted it makes him "happy" to know people find him attractive as he approaches 50. He said: "I'm 49 years old, and the fact that anybody wants to see 49-year-old booty, it makes me happy." The American Fiction star views his career as a type of "controlled schizophrenia". He explained: "I look at this acting thing as sort of controlled schizophrenia, in that there's so many people inside of me, and each character gives me an opportunity to let one aspect of myself out. " Sterling thinks the TV industry has changed hugely since the early days of his career, as a lot of production has moved outside of Los Angeles, and series are substantially shorter. He said: "I remind myself that the industry is just 100 years old. When I first started, there was a thing called pilot season. There was many a network drama. There was many a serialised. There were 22 to 24 episodes. Now we're doing six or eight. "And so much has left Los Angeles. "I was just working in Australia, and there were seven other productions living in my hotel." Natasha agreed: "There was a game show shooting near us in Thailand. "There's a little bit of 'Molly, you in danger, girl' about it all."

Brooke Shields celebrates 60th birthday with bikini shoot

Brooke Shields celebrated her 60th birthday in paradise. The Blue Lagoon actress took to Instagram Saturday to share photos of herself rocking a black bikini while lounging on a hammock on the beach. 'Woke up in Paradise … and in a new decade of life,' she captioned the post. 'This is 60! Thank you for all the birthday love.' Shields styled her beach day look with a wide-brimmed hat and choker necklace. The Hollywood star didn't disclose the tropical location where she was enjoying her milestone birthday. In honour of the big day, her haircare brand, Commence, also shared 'a non-exhaustive list' of 'propaganda' she refuses to believe as she gets older. 'That 60 means slowing down,' read text on an Instagram Reel of Shields at a photo shoot. 'That change is only for your twenties. That it's too late to learn something new. That my best days are in the rearview. 'That women 'of a certain age' aren't a force to be reckoned with. That I don't deserve products made specifically for me. That not every day can be a good hair day.' Shields got candid about ageing in a November 2023 interview with Glamour magazine, confessing she's afraid of certain cosmetic injectables. 'I'm scared of not looking like myself; the times that I've had Botox, I end up with this Spock eye and I'm like, 'I don't look like myself,'' she said at the time. 'But I'll get Fraxels, and peels, and whatever the newest thing is, and I'll try it. I just don't want to not look like myself.' But Shields has maintained her youthful glow; she stunned as she hit the beach in another bikini in April. At the time, the former model flaunted her figure while lying in the sand in the Bahamas wearing a black-and-white two-piece. The Mother of the Bride star went makeup-free, accessorising with a gold necklace and statement bracelets. This story originally appeared on Page Six
