Scandal-rigged LSC project advances to 72.43% completion
PRIME Minister Datuk Seri Anwar Ibrahim visited Lumut Naval Shipyard (LUNAS) today to review the Royal Malaysian Navy's (RMN) littoral combat ship (LCS) project, joined by Deputy Defence Minister Adly Zahari and Chief of Defence Force General Tan Sri Mohd Nizam Jaffar.
The Defence Ministry reported that the project has reached 72.43% completion as of May 25, with LCS1 launched on May 23 and now in the 'setting to work' (STW) phase, set for sea trials in December, Bernama reported.
'LCS2 was launched earlier on May 8 and is currently undergoing continued construction, with STW activities planned to begin in September this year,' the ministry stated. LCS3 is on track for delivery in 2027, with LCS4 and LCS5 to follow by 2029.
The RM9bil contract, awarded to Boustead Naval Shipyard in 2011 for six ships, has faced significant delays, with none delivered by the original 2019 to 2023 timeline.
Allegations of mismanagement and corruption have fuelled public outcry, with the Malaysian Anti-Corruption Commission recently completing its probe and recommending charges.
Calls for a royal commission of inquiry and the declassification of reports persist, as Pakatan Harapan (PH) leaders point to former premier Datuk Seri Najib Razak and then-defence minister Datuk Seri Ahmad Zahid Hamidi — both of whom deny responsibility and instead blame PH for the setbacks. — June 15, 2025

PM extends aid to impoverished single mother of 10 in Kuantan
KUALA LUMPUR: Prime Minister Datuk Seri Anwar Ibrahim has extended aid to Wan Azizah Wan Mohd Ali, 79, a single mother living in poverty in Kampung Sungai Karang Darat, Kuantan, Pahang. The contribution was delivered by the Prime Minister's Political Secretary Datuk Ahmad Farhan Fauzi during a visit to the mother of 10 as part of the Ziarah Madani outreach programme. Ahmad Farhan said Wan Azizah, who relies on her late husband's pension to support her family, is facing various hardships as she also suffers from hypertension and has to care for a child with mental health issues. "Her house is in a severely dilapidated condition, with leaking roofs, rotting floorboards and gaping holes. "On behalf of Prime Minister Datuk Seri Anwar Ibrahim, I delivered a contribution as a gesture of concern and am currently reviewing suitable assistance to ease Puan Wan Azizah's burden, including repairing her home," he said in a Facebook post shared by the prime minister today. Erdogan: Conditions In Gaza Worse Than Nazi Camps
ISTANBUL, June 21 (Bernama-WAFA) -- Turkish President Recep Tayyip Erdoğan has described the humanitarian situation in Gaza as worse than the conditions in Nazi concentration camps. According to Palestine News and Info Agency (WAFA) he said this in a powerful speech delivered during the 51st session of the Council of Foreign Ministers of the Organisation of Islamic Cooperation (OIC), held in Istanbul. "It has bombed hospitals, schools, mosques, and churches. It has brutally killed people waiting in aid lines for a bag of flour, a bowl of soup, or a piece of stale bread." He further condemned the daily killing of hundreds of innocent civilians by Israeli forces, noting that most of the victims are children and women.
