He said that the Metropolitan Police has contacted the French embassy in order to make contact with the relatives of the deceased. He added: 'We are also in contact with French police authorities, who have so far shown no interest in travelling to Iceland, though that cannot be ruled out.' The deputy chief superintendent declined to comment on how the woman sustained her injuries. Police have also said that the period of detention may be extended when she appears in court again, but could not comment on what charges may be brought.
