The Waterfront – Season 1 Episode 2 'Taking Control' Recap & Review

Taking Control Episode 2 of The Waterfront begins with authorities finding Curtis and Troy's bodies in the water. While the authorities chalk this up to a freak accident – including the DEA agents in the area – Clyde takes Cane and Harlan aside to talk about their next run. Even with the DEA still in town, things are hot and the Buckleys want to wait before running more drugs. Unfortunately, Porter isn't taking no for an answer and they don't have much of a choice but to go ahead as scheduled. Speaking to Belle about their financial issues, Harlan learns they're four months behind on both mortgages and two months behind on the loan. They really are up shit's creek given their debts amount to about 6.8 million. Willis at National has given them a three-month extension to prevent them defaulting, but they need to find about $2 million to keep afloat. Harlan though believes they can make it work by cutting Porter out of this and going right to the source. Harlan wants to negotiate with the buyer and have their own supply line. Belle though, has another idea. She wants to partner with a developer called Wes Larsen to expand and invest in building out the beachfront. This would eventually solve all their financial issues, but Harlan is adamant that the land isn't to be worked on. As we soon find out, Belle has already gone ahead with this and spoken to Wes in private behind her husband's back. An ongoing issue here stems from Bree, who works in the restaurant. She has an estranged relationship with her son, Diller, and Harlan wants to help try and patch things up between them. That's difficult to do given there's a restraining order in place for her, but Diller is offered a job working at the fish shop. Bree has been hitting the booze hard and has been in and out of rehab, where she met Marcus, the DEA agent. He's also an ex addict so the pair have a lot in common. It seems the apple doesn't fall far from the tree, does it? Bree meets with Marcus at a motel and after destroying the dresser together in a fit of passion, they talk about the case. Marcus doesn't see this going anywhere but Bree is adamant they're onto something. She wants to expose and get Cane out the business, whom she has a grudge with. She's okay with Belle and Harlan though, but the reason for her resentment toward her brother is still unclear. Bree breaks into Cane's office while he's out doing his drug run, intending to take incriminating documents or evidence of wrongdoing. This includes the deed for the boat changing hands. Harlan and Cane work together to do their drug run, unaware of what's going on back at shore. Harlan is taking absolutely no chances though, handing over guns and deciding they need to be ready. Unfortunately, they're ten kilos under the scheduled weight and things look set to kick off. That is, until Cane convinces them to ring Owen and smooth things over. Instead of ringing Porter though, they call a guy called Grady, and he allows them to leave unharmed. It seems like he's the one who's really pulling the strings here. We soon learn that this definitely was a stick-up, and when Harlan finds out, he's pissed. He confronts Porter about it and smacks him across the mouth. Sporting a bloodied mouth, he admits he likes to see the Buckleys struggling like this and talks a big game. That is, until Harlan mentions Grady's name. Harlan wants to meet with him and refuses to do more runs with Porter until he organizes this. That night, Cane meets with Jenna ready for dinner with their partners. Both are nervous and decide to do some shots and eat a gummy to loosen up. Unfortunately, they loosen a bit too much, making things super uncomfortable for their prospective partners. Less uncomfortable though is the meeting with West and Belle. They wind up kissing outside in a it of passion as the development deal looks set to go ahead. When Belle heads back inside, composing herself, she finds Shawn, the new bartender, in a heated conversation with someone on the phone. Belle has been suspicious of him all episode, given he's new in town and clearly doesn't know how to pour drinks properly. His CV also has glaring holes too. When Belle confronts him about this, she demands answers. Well, it turns out Shawn is actually the estranged son of Harlan. That night, Harlan and Cane hash out their issues together. While Harlan sees his son as a fool for running his mouth, Cane believes honesty, or at least honour among thieves, is their best policy. The pair clearly don't see eye to eye and their chat doesn't go well, especially when Cane admits he's glad he's not like his pa. As the episode closes out, Bree shows up to see Marcus and hands over the USB drive that has evidence of wrongdoing from her brother. At the same time, Peyton is approached by a couple of masked figures who douse her in gasoline with a trail heading off to the road and they light a match. The Episode Review Alas, the plot thickens! It's clear now that Grady is the one in charge and it could well be his men that have shown up and threatened Peyton. It's a harsh reminder of who's in charge and Harlan is right in one respect – being a snitch in this line of work is going to end badly. The drama involving the family is starting to get interesting though, with Belle's ties with Wes, Bree's relationship with Marcus and the ongoing sexual tension between Jenna and Cane, looking set to cause big drama going forward and completely implode the family dynamics. Everything here is set up on a precarious knife-edge – roll on the next episode! Previous Episode Next Episode Expect A Full Season Write-Up When This Season Concludes!

Tori Spelling and ex husband's debt spiral exposed as bank reveals they left $400,000 loan unpaid for 13 YEARS

Tori Spelling and her estranged husband Dean McDermott owe a bank nearly $400,000 stemming from an unpaid 13-year-old loan for more than $395,000, according to a new lawsuit. The Beverly Hills, 90210 alum, 52, and Toronto-born actor, 58, were named in a six-figure lawsuit City National Bank filed last week in Los Angeles. Spelling, who played Donna Martin on the 90s Fox staple, and McDermott initially took out the loan in 2012 for $400,000, according to the legal complaint. Spelling - who is dating reality star Ryan Cramer - and McDermott initially borrowed $400,000, the bank said in the lawsuit, adding that the pair 'have failed to satisfy their obligations ... under the terms of the promissory note.' Spelling's past financial issues have made headlines: The daughter of late Hollywood producer Aaron Spelling and wife Candy Spelling publicly contemplated starting an Only Fans account less than a year ago as a means of paying for her kids' college tuitions. Daily Mail has reached out to reps for both parties for further comment on the story. US Weekly was first to report the story. Four years later in 2016, the bank filed paperwork with the court stating that the couple was in debt more than $188,000 and had violated the pact they had previously agreed to. A judgment was issued against Spelling and McDermott on May 22, 2017 for $220,088.37, Page Six reported after reviewing legal docs. A court awarded the bank more than $400,000 from Spelling and McDermott in a 2019 judgment, according to the outlet. Tori was assessed a sum to pay of $219,796.66 while Dean was assessed $202,066.10 for the unpaid loan and subsequent charges, the outlet reported after reviewing court docs. Spelling is mother to five children with McDermott: Liam Aaron, 18, Stella Doreen, 17, Hattie Margaret, 13, Finn Davey, 12, and Beau Dean, eight; McDermott is also father to son Jack, 26, with ex-wife Mary Jo Eustace, 63. McDermott, who has been seen in films such as Foibles and Open Range, did not appear to be rattled by the collection efforts, as he spoke about his passion for yoga in a clip he posted Monday to Instagram Stories. McDermott, who's been seen on shows such as Due South, Tracker and Earth: Final Conflict, wore a T-shirt that read,' Stuck between Namaste and Kiss My A**.' 'This is where I find myself living a lot,' he said. 'I try to go more to Namaste and not so much to kiss my a**, but I wanted to share this.' McDermott spread positivity to his 138,000-plus followers, saying, 'If no one's told you that they love you today, I'm telling you right now, I love you guys, and you're all f***ing rock stars!' Spelling said in court docs she and McDermott had separated on June 17, 2023, listing 'irreconcilable differences' as her reason for the split. Spelling in legal docs had requested sole physical custody and joint legal custody of their five children. She also requesed McDermott provide her with spousal support and reimburse her legal fees in the matter. The former couple had documented their 17-year-plus union on the TV shows Tori & Dean: Inn Love and Tori & Dean: Home Sweet Hollywood.

A Newlywed Tells Dave Ramsey Her Husband's Spending Is A Problem—'When He Gets Paid, He Wants To Get His Hair Done'

A newlywed called into 'The Ramsey Show' with a big concern: her husband is financially reckless, and it's already putting serious strain on their young marriage. The woman, 41, said she and her 52-year-old husband tied the knot just four or five months ago after dating for only a short time. Since then, she's been blindsided by his financial Miss: Maker of the $60,000 foldable home has 3 factory buildings, 600+ houses built, and big plans to solve housing — Deloitte's fastest-growing software company partners with Amazon, Walmart & Target – Many are rushing to 'He's behind on his child support because the job that he had was a contract job,' she said. 'When he gets paid, he wants to go get his hair done or for me to get my hair done, and I'm like, okay, we need to sacrifice.' To make matters worse, her husband is driving a car that's in his mother's name and is currently at risk of repossession. 'He tries to keep it hidden so it doesn't get repossessed,' she added. When she brings up these issues, the conversations often turn sour. 'He gets angry about it,' she said, recalling a recent argument over buying a work shirt at Walmart. 'He's like, 'Why do you guys always argue with me? Why do you guys got to make a scene?' And I'm like, I wasn't making a scene.' Personal finance personality Dave Ramsey didn't sugarcoat it. 'You don't have a money problem, darling. You got a husband problem,' he told her. 'When you're arguing in Walmart over a shirt, we know the marriage is in trouble.' Trending: Maximize saving for your retirement and cut down on taxes: . The call echoed advice Ramsey has long preached: full financial transparency is critical in a relationship. In last year's social media post, he wrote, 'There can be no money secrets from someone you are serious enough about to marry. You cannot have healthy relationships and build wealth with lies as the foundation.' Ramsey, who went bankrupt in the 1980s before rebuilding his life and business, often speaks about how he and his wife had to work through financial strain with total honesty. 'Do not marry someone without all accounts being laid bare for both of you to see and know what you're getting,' he Jade Warshaw told the caller that conversations about money should happen outside the heat of the moment. 'Not having the conversation in the moment that the bad behavior is taking place, but setting aside a just say, 'Hey, let's go get breakfast,' and then you say, 'Here's some of the things I've been thinking about.'' Ultimately, Ramsey encouraged the woman to work on building a shared long-term vision. 'The only way you're going to fix that is for the two of you to get above that and have a long-term thing that you're willing to build together towards.' If that doesn't happen, he said, 'Then you probably need to sit down with a good marriage counselor.' ‘You're a loser': Man stunned after girlfriend says he's not marriage material, hides teenage child

SINGAPORE: A man took to Reddit to crowdsource some wise advice concerning his girlfriend, whom he said has told him she was not ready for marriage. However, when he gave more context to his story, commenters told him that she may be the one with issues, not him. In a Wednesday (June 11) post on r/askSingapore, the post author wrote that he and his girlfriend are both 38 years old and that they've been together for three years. They moved in with his family last year. However, he is not on good terms with his father, and his mother and sister can also, at times, be difficult. Another source of conflict between them is work and money. After getting laid off last year, he started working for his girlfriend's family's business, but she wants him to look for another job, which he admitted he does not do regularly. Earlier this year, the woman moved back home to her parents, on the pretext of not wanting to spend Chinese New Year with the post author's family. 'Things were going okay until last April, some financial issues came up, and she snapped. She became cold and started avoiding me,' he wrote, adding, 'So she laid it out and said that I am a loser who is currently nothing.' He also wrote that she accused him of living like a child, since his resources are limited, has no proper insurance and savings, and still collects toys and cards. However, he has begun to change, endeavouring to buy a house, getting insurance, starting a savings account, and doubling up on efforts to get a new job. His girlfriend has told him that he can't afford a wedding, much less their life together, advising him to work on himself first and get everything on track before they discuss future plans. But the post author recently found out that his girlfriend has a 17-year-old child. 'I was obviously shocked, but it lined up as she told me that I don't know something about her that I would never be able to take on,' he wrote, adding that while he's still reeling from learning this, he still wants to win her back. 'I know this will become a problem later. Any advice from people here?' By and large, commenters on his post pointed out what a big red flag it is that the woman hid her child from him for the three years they've been together. 'This relationship doesn't seem to be built on trust, with your gf hiding such important info from you. Three years together, yet it wasn't shared,' wrote one. 'The real question is, why are you thinking of marrying someone who didn't even tell you she had a child?' asked another. 'Bro, how is it that you were dating her for three years and didn't know she had a 17-year-old kid? What else is she hiding? The mutual trust is lost, or perhaps never existed. If this is going nowhere, you should consider calling it quits and stop wasting each other's time,' agreed a third. 'A lifetime together? Sorry, but nope… A partner builds you up when you are down and does not tear you apart more. I cannot imagine a life with someone like that because I cannot imagine calling someone I love a loser,' chimed in a Reddit user. Perhaps the best advice came from a commenter who wrote, 'You need to win yourself back, not win her back.' /TISG Read also: 'I'm very confused' — Man asks if he's wrong to party with his friends while his girlfriend grieves her dog's death
