Car Deal of the Day: Classy seven-seat Volkswagen Tiguan Allspace for only £227 per month

Practical seven-seat family SUV Good amount of standard kit £227 per month with £3,083 initial payment The recently launched Tayron has taken over the role as Volkswagen's seven-seat SUV, which means the Volkswagen Tiguan Allspace is now retired and available for great prices through the Auto Express Find a Car service – such as this deal we found for the comfortable family car at only £227 per month. The three-year lease term being offered by Leasing Options through Auto Express is for a well-equipped Volkswagen Tiguan Allspace in Life trim. It requires an initial outlay of £3,083, followed by monthly payments of £227, and includes a standard allowance of 5,000 miles per year. Advertisement - Article continues below Standard kit includes 18-inch alloys, LED headlights, a 10.25-inch 'Digital Cockpit' driver's display, eight-inch touchscreen with sat-nav and wireless Apple CarPlay and Android Auto, three-zone climate control, front and rear parking sensors, adaptive cruise control, traffic sign recognition and a smattering of other driver assistance features. Of course, with a car like this, space and practicality are the biggest selling points. The Tiguan Allspace offers three rows of seats, with those at the very back offering enough room for small children, and two sets of Isofix mounting points on the middle row. If you don't have that many people to ferry around, folding those rearmost seats gives you a massive 700 litres of boot space to play with. The 1.5-litre turbocharged petrol engine is smooth, quiet and produces 148bhp, which is more than capable of handling the school run or weekend shopping trips. It can also deliver solid fuel economy – over 42mpg, according to VW – and tow up to two tonnes. It's paired with a six-speed manual gearbox. The Car Deal of the Day selections we make are taken from our own Auto Express Find a Car deals service, which includes the best current offers from car retailers and leasing companies around the UK. Inside Kia's refreshed Sportage including comfy cabin, punchy new looks and driving mode young families will love

PEOPLE say never work with children or animals. Because they're totally unpredictable. Treats will only get you so far. 5 5 But I'm not one to listen. So when Kia said Britain's favourite SUV is better for the family than ever before, I had to put it to the test. Meet Maisie and her new bestie, Bijoux the cockapoo. Two little fluff balls, perfect for having a proper rummage around the refreshed Sportage. Here are five things you need to know. 1. It's got a 'baby and toddler mode' which smooths out acceleration and driver inputs. Makes everything less jolty. So little toddlers like Maisie stay sound asleep. Happy babies = happy parents. You know that. 2. The boot. Comfortably beats a Nissan Qashqai at 587 litres v 504. Swallows pushchairs, luggage and all the usual family debris — even a dog crate to keep Bijoux safe. Which also means no muddy paws on the seats. Bonus. Some dogs will appreciate the baby mode, too. The Sun's Motors Editor, Rob Gill test drives the Kia EV3 3. New front end. OUT go the 'boomerang' lights from today's Sportage. IN comes the 'star map' LEDs inspired by Kia's growing EV line-up. Looks punchy. More aggressive. Will help Sportage stand out from the crowd. The rear lights have also been updated, as well as some other little details to keep things fresh. 4. Cabin. Absolutely nailed it. Lots of big-car tech in here but still knobs and buttons for the things that need knobs and buttons. Comfy. Roomy. Lots of handy storage, big cup holders, even USB-C charging ports in the side of the front seats for people sat in the back. Three well-equipped trim levels, not four as before. Posher versions get Apple CarPlay satnav arrows integrated into the Head-up Display. 5. Engines. Three choices — 1.6-litre petrol mild hybrid, full hybrid or plug-in hybrid. The last two have a bit more oomph than before and the option of four-wheel drive. Here's some good news for caravanners and people with weekend toys. Maximum towing capacity has increased to 1,510kg. No diesel. No pure electric. If you want to go electric next, there's a Sportage-sized EV5 coming soon. 6. Sorry, I can't count. Price. No official numbers from Kia yet but I'm guessing £31k for the petrol manual when it hits showrooms in September? That would be a lot of car at a sensible price. Maisie's parents own a Kia Niro by the way. You can guess what car they want next. 5 5

Car Deal of the Day: get a big Nissan Qashqai for less than a little Nissan Juke

Fuel-sipping mild-hybrid petrol engine Spacious family car with large 504-litre boot Only £170.95 a month The Nissan Qashqai is a go-to SUV for many Brits, and it's easy to see why with deals like this. Through the Auto Express Find a Car service, is offering the British-built family car for a minuscule £170.95 – that's stonking value, but it gets even better. At that price, it means the Qashqai is currently cheaper than its little brother Juke by around £15 a month. So, that's more space inside and more power for less cash. Advertisement - Article continues below To get the ball rolling you'll have to fork out a very reasonable £2,312.41, and this is a two-year deal with a 5,000-miles-a-year cap. Bumping this up to 8,000 will cost you just under £14 extra a month, should you need to. Naturally, for this kind of money, you're not getting the top-drawer luxurious model. Still, this Acenta Premium has all the essentials covered and more, with kit such as a 12.3-inch touchscreen with wireless Apple CarPlay and Android Auto, a rear-view camera with parking sensors, LED headlights, and dual-zone climate control all coming as standard. Powering this bargain Qashqai is one of Nissan's efficient 1.3-litre turbocharged mild-hybrid petrol engines. With 138bhp and 240Nm of torque it's a decent enough performer, and the six-speed manual gearbox is pleasant to use. It's an easy car to drive, too, and feels safe and predictable on the move. The latest Qashqai's interior feels solidly made, plus it's easy to get comfortable behind the wheel. Interior space is excellent, with wide-opening rear doors to make loading children and all their stuff just that little bit easier, and boot space is great at 504 litres. The Car Deal of the Day selections we make are taken from our own Auto Express Find A Car deals service, which includes the best current offers from car dealers and leasing companies around the UK. ‘Why should I pay for a car I won't use?' — Singaporean upset after parents ask him to pay for family car's COE

SINGAPORE: A young Singaporean who only recently started working took to Reddit to ask if it was unreasonable for him to refuse to contribute to his retired parents' car expenses. Posting anonymously on the r/SingaporeRaw forum, the user shared his confusion and frustration after his parents asked him and his sister to evenly split the cost of the Certificate of Entitlement (COE) for the family car. 'I think it's crazy to be spending more than half of my assets for something I don't even want, and I thought the question itself is kinda outrageous,' he wrote. 'The thing is, both my sis and I don't have driving licenses yet, plus I believe that a car is a luxury item in Singapore, not a necessity, so I don't even want to buy a car for myself in the future in the first place, much less pay for a family car.' When he tried to express his concerns, his parents pushed back. 'When I told them this, they mentioned that they paid for the previous and current car, and how much they 'need' it.' However, the user felt this was more of a lifestyle choice than a true need. 'I think it's a privileged mentality because I don't recall the last time they took the MRT or bus. And also if they really need it, I thought, just rent a car – it's so much cheaper and we won't have to pay for insurance, maintenance, etc, or just use Grab.' The user ended his post by asking others in the community, 'Do any of your parents also ask you to split for the family car, especially when you just start working? And do your parents even ask you such a thing?' 'They're basically handicapping your future…' Many Redditors who responded echoed his disbelief. Several commenters said they, too, would find such a request unfair. One said, 'This is ridiculous. Your parents want to purchase a car for their own usage and they are asking you and your sister to pay even when ya'll don't have a driver's license yet. This means you lose out even more. They probably got too used to having a car to transport themselves around, and now, when they can't afford it after retirement, they're getting y'all to share the costs.' Another commented, 'No. That's selfish of them. They're basically handicapping your future just so they can continue enjoying having their own vehicle.' A third added, 'Typical sinkie parents who believe that the children are an extension of their resources. They see children as a safety net for their incompetence.' Still, some Redditors in the thread felt the user should try to understand his parents more. One Redditor shared a similar experience from a few years back, writing, 'My parents asked that my three siblings pay for the COE for the old car as well. All of us had already moved out. Each of us forked out S$15k for the S$45k COE then. This was about seven years ago.' Although the Redditor admitted they weren't entirely pleased with the arrangement, they chose to pay without protest. 'I wasn't thrilled about it, but I paid. I just thought of it as a one-time payment for my uni fees since my parents paid for it.' 'At the end of the day, just think back to the money your parents had spent on you. If it's comparable (to your end of the cost of the car) and if you can afford it, pay up to maintain family bliss. Else, move out and make a clean break.' In other news, a woman was surprised when a man she went on a first date with asked her to send him money via PayNow for dinner, several days after they met. She shared her experience on the r/askSingapore forum on Saturday (May 31), explaining that she had agreed to meet the man, who is in his 30s, after they had developed a good connection through their conversations on a dating app. Read more: Woman says she's 'bewildered' after man asks her to 'PayNow him' for their first date dinner Featured image by Depositphotos (for illustration purposes only)

Car Deal of the Day: Comfy and chic Renault Scenic electric SUV for under £235 a month

Spacious and very practical 381-mile range Just £233.21 a month The electric family SUV class is fit to bursting but there is one offering that has risen to the top – the Renault Scenic E-Tech. The French brand has reinvented its famous family-friendly MPV to an equally family-suitable SUV, complete with a practical interior, great tech, and keen pricing. You can get behind the wheel for as little as £233.21 a month right now, thanks to this deal from VehicleFlex through the Auto Express Find a Car service. Advertisement - Article continues below This two-year deal requires a £3,038.50 initial payment, and has a cap of 5,000 miles a year. But if you need more mileage, then that's not a problem as the broker offers an 8,000-mile-a-year deal for under £20 more a month. Most will likely go for the longer mileage deal as the Scenic makes for a great family car thanks to its long range. The 87kWh battery pack is claimed to give 381 miles before needing to be recharged, and in our tests we've found 300 miles to be a reasonable average. Meanwhile, the pack can be charged up to 150kW from a rapid-charger, meaning you can be on your way in under 40 minutes. Skip advert Advertisement - Article continues below The Scenic drives just the way you'd want a family car to – and that's quiet and comfy. It's supple around town and absorbs bumps with ease, and it's superbly refined. That said, thanks to its relative lightness (for an EV) and sharp steering, the Scenic is also good to drive on twister roads. This deal nets you the entry-level Techno, which is no bad thing as it's packed with kit as standard. Renault throws in things such as 19-inch diamond-cut alloys, a 12-inch touchscreen with a slick Google operating system, and a clever rear armrest that will keep the kids entertained on long journeys. Interior space is excellent for this type of car - there's bags of room in the rear seats, and the boot is massive at 545 litres. The Car Deal of the Day selections we make are taken from our own Auto Express Find A Car deals service, which includes the best current offers from car dealers and leasing companies around the UK.
