ACB finds assets worth crores in raids on state municipal officer
Jaipur: The anti-corruption bureau (ACB) carried out extensive raids at 12 locations on Tuesday in connection with a disproportionate assets case against Fateh Singh Meena, executive officer of the Paota–Pragpura municipality in Kotputli-Behror district. The ACB teams found luxury flats, high-end vehicles, farmhouses, and also recovered illegal opium from a 15-bigha farmhouse, officials said. The raids spanned Jaipur, Paota, Shahpura, Kotputli, and Thanagazi in Alwar district, and uncovered a vast network of high-value properties and assets allegedly acquired through benami channels. Officials said the searches led to the recovery of two luxury duplex flats in Trimurti Arena, Jagatpura in Jaipur, valued at around Rs 1.30 crore; 1.05 hectares of land in Deepawas in Neem Ka Thana; and about 15 bighas of land in Thanagazi in Alwar. The farmhouse in Thanagazi is estimated to be worth Rs 80 lakh. Raids were also conducted at Meena's residence in Thanagazi near Bhartrihari Tiraha, his rented house in Paota-Pragpura, and the municipal office. Properties linked to his associates, Pramod Kumar Verma in Kotputli and Kailash Gurjar in Shahpura, were also searched. A farmhouse in Garh Basai, Thanagazi, turned out to be one of the key locations in the operation where ACB teams found various luxury vehicles. by Taboola by Taboola Sponsored Links Sponsored Links Promoted Links Promoted Links You May Like Free P2,000 GCash eGift UnionBank Credit Card Apply Now Undo Some 1,500 trees of expensive fruit varieties were being grown at the farmhouse. At a luxury flats in Jaipur, the ACB founda a luxury vehicle, Rs 2 lakh in cash, approximately 1kg of silver ornaments, and nearly 150gm of gold jewellery. According to ACB director general Dr Ravi Prakash Meharda, the action was taken after credible inputs suggested that Meena had amassed wealth over 250% than his known sources of income. Key documents related to the properties and financial transactions were seized during the operation. Officials suspect that many of the assets were acquired through proxies and hidden investments. The ACB said more information would be released after the full assessment of recovered properties and documents.

When Yo Yo Honey Singh addressed speculations of rift with Badshah: 'We were never friends'
n an industry known for epic collaborations and equally dramatic fallouts, the dynamic between Yo Yo Honey Singh and Badshah has always intrigued fans. While both rappers ruled the Indian music scene in the 2010s, speculations about a rift between the two kept making headlines. But it was during a 2024 promotional event in Delhi for his track Kanna Vich Waaliyan that Honey Singh finally addressed the elephant in the room. At the press conference, Honey Singh was asked if there was any possibility of rekindling his friendship with Badshah. His response was as candid as it was surprising. 'We were never friends,' Singh stated, calmly putting an end to years of speculation. 'We had a brotherhood, but not friendship.' Singh revealed that the duo had worked together in the early stages of their careers. In fact, he was producing Badshah's first album back then, but the project never reached completion. Despite that, Honey emphasised that there was mutual respect and a bond rooted in love — just not the kind of close friendship people assumed. 'So we cannot say there was friendship earlier, or whether it will be a friendship now. There was love earlier also and now as well,' he added, hinting that while professional collaborations may be off the table for now, there's no animosity either. 'We don't work together anymore and don't get time to meet, but love is with everyone.' by Taboola by Taboola Sponsored Links Sponsored Links Promoted Links Promoted Links You May Like Free P2,000 GCash eGift UnionBank Credit Card Apply Now Undo The moment was a rare insight into the relationship between two of India's biggest music icons. While fans may still hope for a reunion track, Honey Singh's words made one thing clear — not every successful partnership stems from deep friendship. Sometimes, mutual respect and creative synergy are enough to make magic, even if it's only for a while. This throwback reminds us that behind the glitz of the music industry, there are complex human stories — ones that don't always play out the way fans imagine. In short-term, Maha plans more barracks, bail reform to decongest jails
Nagpur: Alongside the infrastructure overhaul, the Maharashtra govt is implementing a multi-pronged short-term plan to reduce overcrowding in prisons. In a detailed affidavit submitted to the Maharashtra State Human Rights Commission, inspector general of prisons, Jalindar Supekar, revealed a series of measures, including the construction of new barracks and bail relief for undertrial prisoners. The immediate focus is on barrack expansion within existing facilities, with several projects under way or recently approved. The affidavit, which was later submitted to the Nagpur bench of Bombay High Court, disclosed that nine new barracks with a combined capacity of 200 inmates were sanctioned at Yerwada Central Prison in 2023-24. Additionally, 100-capacity barracks at Yerwada Open Women Prison and 200-capacity units at Yerwada Open Prison are under construction. These works are expected to be completed in the next six months. Similar expansion is under way at Nagpur Central Prison, Solapur, Satara, Yavatmal and Buldhana jails. These expansions will add 1,370 inmate spaces across the state. For 2025-26, proposals have been sent for 67 new barracks in 12 prisons, including facilities in Amravati, Chandrapur, Akola, Chhatrapati Sambhajinagar, Sindhudurg, Kolhapur, Thane, Nashik Road and Kalyan. by Taboola by Taboola Sponsored Links Sponsored Links Promoted Links Promoted Links You May Like Free P2,000 GCash eGift UnionBank Credit Card Apply Now Undo These units are expected to house an additional 2,754 inmates. The affidavit, submitted in response to a writ petition concerning prison reforms filed by Nanded-based undertrial Sachin Lone through counsel Ratna Singh, added that administrative approvals for these projects have been secured, and work is in various stages of progress. According to Supekar, the govt is committed to fast-tracking these projects to mitigate the immediate crisis of prisoner overcrowding and uphold human rights standards. Supekar's affidavit asserts that the combined efforts of barrack construction, undertrial bail reform, and remission benefits will collectively ease pressure on jails across Maharashtra.

Himanta Sarma drops bombshell: 'Gaurav Gogoi's children not Indian citizens, examining what he did in Pakistan for 15 days'
Himanta Biswa Sarma and Gaurav Gogoi (File photo) NEW DELHI: Assam chief minister Himanta Biswa Sarma on Friday escalated his attack on Congress MP Gaurav Gogoi , claiming that the Congress leader's children are not Indian citizens. He also raised questions about Gogoi's alleged visit to Pakistan. "I have evidence that Gaurav Gogoi's son and daughter are not Indian citizens. We are examining what he did there (Pakistan) for 15 days. There is no tourism place in Pakistan; it is only a terrorist adda,' Sarma told ANI. The BJP leader further alleged, "It is 100 per cent confirmed that he went there, but what did he do there in 15 days? Robert Vadra and Gaurav Gogoi are more concerned about Pakistan than India.' by Taboola by Taboola Sponsored Links Sponsored Links Promoted Links Promoted Links You May Like Free P2,000 GCash eGift UnionBank Credit Card Apply Now Undo Sarma's comments come a day after he made a cryptic post on X writing: "I say this with full responsibility — the minor children of one Member of Parliament from Assam are no longer citizens of India. But this is just the beginning. There is much more yet to be revealed." Earlier this week, Sarma questioned citizenship status of Gogoi's family members. He has been targetting Gogoi repeatedly, stating he would release evidence of the MP's alleged international visits to Pakistan and Nepal before September. Gogoi has not yet responded to the allegations made by Sarma.
