Travel disruption after lorry hits railway bridge

A section of road in Guildford is closed after a lorry crashed into a railway bridge. The vehicle, travelling westbound on the A25 Midleton Road, hit the bridge at about 06:00 BST on Wednesday. Trains were delayed following the incident but were using the bridge as normal again from 08:00, according to Network Rail. Surrey Police said the westbound carriageway remained closed while officers helped remove the vehicle. Network Rail said it had stopped trains as a precaution to allow for an inspection of the bridge. "We thank passengers for their patience and understanding and apologise for the disruption this incident caused to their journeys," a spokesperson added. More news stories for Jersey Listen to the latest news for Jersey Ms Brockbank said: "Whether you're walking to celebrate the lives of those no longer with us, make new memories, or perhaps a bit of both - it's about coming together as a community to show how much we value our hospice's work." The charity said marshals and water stops would be positioned along the routes and entrants would get a cup of tea and some cake when they finish. Entries cost £31.50 for a family of two adults and two children or £10.50 for people aged 16 or over and £5.25 for under 16s, who must be accompanied by an adult, the charity said. Ukrainian refugee scoops gold at honey awards

A Ukrainian refugee living in Devon who started a business selling honey from her homeland has received national recognition. Maryna Georgieva, from Moretonhampstead, fled the war in 2022 with her two children and started her company Honeyland, where she imports honey produced in Ukraine to sell in the UK. Last month her product won gold at the London International Honey Awards. Ms Georgieva said the award belongs to all the "incredible" Ukrainian beekeepers who had "collecting honey during the most challenging of times". More news stories for Devon Listen to the latest news for Devon Ms Georgieva said she only planned to stay in Devon for six months before returning home but the continuing conflict scuppered her plans. She said her signature buckwheat honey was "unusual" and "unique in taste", similar to manuka honey. On her award, she said she was "very happy and proud to win gold". Ms Georgieva said she has an "ambitious plan" to deliver Ukrainian honey across the country and get it into every major supermarket. "I'm limited in time so I live on high speed," she said. "We're on a mission to make people in the UK fall in love with Ukrainian honey." Follow BBC Devon on X, Facebook and Instagram. Gull sips man's coffee before stealing his mug

A gull has taken revenge on a man who was installing anti-bird spikes in a Cornish town - by drinking his coffee and pinching his mug. Maintenance worker Darren Pardoe had been bird proofing houses in Porthleven when he stopped at a pub for a coffee on 3 June. He said he had been talking to someone before he turned around to find the gull helping himself to the hot brew. Before he could take action, the feathered thief flew off with the mug. "I think it had remembered me," he joked. More news stories for Cornwall Listen to the latest news for Cornwall Recalling the coffee heist, Mr Pardoe said: "I turn round and sure enough a seagull's got its beak in my coffee... next minute the bird picks up the coffee cup by its handle and takes off across the harbour with it. "It flew round the harbour and then landed on the water, put the cup down, and the cup just sank." Mr Pardoe captured a photo of the bird in flight with his coffee mug.
