Aishwarya Rai 'Knows How To Play With You', Says Zayed Khan: 'Had Her Picture In Locker Room'
Zayed Khan lauded Aishwarya Rai for her professionalism and also praised her 'porcelain' skin. Aishwarya Rai captured the hearts of millions across the globe when she became Miss World. Zayed Khan was no exception. The actor used to have Aishwarya's posters in his locker room. As such, when he got the opportunity to work with her in Shabd, Zayed quickly agreed. In a recent chat with Siddharth Kannan, Zayed Khan opened up about working with Aishwarya Rai. Zayed Khan said, 'Shabd was the film that showed a married woman falling in love with a young man. Strangely, all the films that I had chosen were ahead of their time. Shabd had a good story. It was a slice of life told at a time when people weren't ready for it." He added, 'I was a fan of Aishwarya when she became Miss World. I used to have her picture in the locker room. When I heard the script of the film and learned that Aishwarya is in the film, I quickly asked, 'Where do I sign on?' I had a wonderful experience working with her." Zayed explained, 'She really knows how to play with you. There are actors who take time to come on set, and there is drama, and actual work is suffering; that's the worst situation to be in. But with Aishwarya, I thought it would be tough to break my fan moment, but she so naturally just said 'hi' and asked me if I wanted to do rehearsals first. She is so beautiful, it's like porcelain, it's not possible. Today, people do filters and all, but she had a natural filter." About Shabd Shabd (2005), directed by Leena Yadav, is a psychological drama that delves into the blurred lines between reality and fiction. The film stars Aishwarya Rai as Antara, a college lecturer, and Zayed Khan as Yash Agnihotri, a young admirer who becomes entangled in a complex narrative orchestrated by Antara's husband, Shaukat Vashisht, portrayed by Sanjay Dutt. The story unfolds as Shaukat, a celebrated author, grapples with writer's block. In a desperate bid for inspiration, he manipulates his wife's emotions by encouraging her to engage with Yash, hoping to fuel his creative process. This psychological experiment spirals out of control, leading to unforeseen consequences for all involved.

Zayed Khan on why Akshay Kumar-Sanjay Dutt's Rs 100-crore film Blue flopped at box office: 'Hollywood's best action directors were involved...Kylie Minogue featured...'
Zayed Khan reflects on 'Blue,' acknowledging its ambition and star power with Akshay Kumar and Sanjay Dutt, but also its failure to connect with audiences despite a massive budget. He attributes this to a disconnect between the screenplay and execution, hindering its potential as a franchise. Creative differences and storytelling issues ultimately led to its underperformance. Years after stepping away from the limelight, Zayed Khan has revisited one of his most ambitious projects—Blue. In a candid chat, the actor opened up about the film's massive scale, what it promised, and why it ultimately failed to deliver. The film also featured Akshay Kumar and Sanjay Dutt in lead roles. On Siddharth Kannan's podcast, Zayed reflected on Blue as a film that was ahead of its time. He likened its concept to an early version of the Fast & Furious franchise and believed it had all the elements—slick action, high production value, and a star-studded cast including Akshay Kumar, Sanjay Dutt, Lara Dutta , and Katrina Kaif—to turn into a successful franchise. Despite its star-studded cast and ambitious scale, Blue fell flat at the box office. The film featured Katrina Kaif in a cameo and included extensive underwater sequences, but it ultimately failed to strike a chord with audiences. He further attributed Blue's failure to a gap between the screenplay and its on-screen execution. He felt the film didn't translate the script's potential effectively, pointing out that even the most visually impressive scenes fall flat if the narrative lacks cohesion. For him, the core issue lay in the storytelling—emphasizing that impactful action stems from a strong screenplay, not just high-octane visuals. by Taboola by Taboola Sponsored Links Sponsored Links Promoted Links Promoted Links You May Like 2025 Top Trending Local Enterprise Accounting Software [Click Here] Accounting ERP Click Here Undo Blue was originally envisioned as the start of a franchise, with director Anthony D'Souza planning a sequel titled Aasman in 2012. However, the follow-up never took off. Zayed Khan hinted at behind-the-scenes challenges, suggesting that creative differences among team members may have played a role—though he noted such clashes are not unusual in filmmaking. Made on a then-unheard-of budget of ₹100 crore, Blue was a lavish production that spared no expense. Zayed Khan noted that the film brought in top Hollywood action directors and even featured international pop star Kylie Minogue , praising the team for delivering high production value despite the film's eventual underperformance. Zayed Khan began his acting career in 2003 with Chura Liya Hai Tumne, but it was his role in the 2004 hit Main Hoon Na alongside Shah Rukh Khan that brought him widespread recognition. Despite a strong start, his career lost momentum over time, eventually prompting him to step away from the spotlight.
