ICS 2025: Breathe Easy-The Mental Health Revolution

HighlightsNikhil Taneja, Co-Founder & Chief of Yuvaa, emphasised that mental health encompasses daily experiences of joy and personal balance, challenging the notion that it is only relevant during crises. Taneja argued that therapy should be viewed as a strength and 'the coolest thing in the world', advocating for a shift in how society perceives emotional wellbeing. The session highlighted the importance of genuine conversations in the workplace, exemplified by Taneja's organisation's practice of sincerely asking employees 'How are you?' to foster a supportive environment. In a refreshingly candid conversation about mental wellness, Nikhil Taneja , Co-Founder & Chief of Yuvaa , alongside session chair Devesh Gupta, Content Lead - Product & Community at at the India Communication Summit 2025 shattered traditional stigmas surrounding mental health, transforming a potentially heavy topic into an enlightening and empowering dialogue. Taneja, a passionate advocate for mental wellness, challenged conventional narratives by highlighting that mental health isn't just about crisis moments, but encompasses daily experiences of joy, happiness, and personal balance. "Mental health isn't spotted only in crises," he explained, "It's about every moment we experience." Drawing from personal experiences, Taneja shared his own journey of recognising anxiety, emphasising how vulnerability can be a strength. He provocatively argued that therapy isn't a weakness but "the coolest thing in the world" - a perspective that could revolutionise how we perceive emotional wellbeing . The session brilliantly dismantled archaic language around mental health, moving beyond terms like "disturbed" or "mental" to create a more compassionate dialogue. By encouraging meaningful check-ins and genuine conversations, the speakers demonstrated how workplace cultures can transform. A standout moment was Taneja's revelation about his organisation's COVID-era practice of genuinely asking employees, "How are you?" - not as a perfunctory greeting, but as a sincere invitation to share your heart. The conversation was a rallying cry for normalising mental health conversations, breaking down barriers, and creating supportive environments where individuals feel safe expressing their emotional experiences.

Nushrratt Bharuccha defends moving model aside at Lakmé Fashion Week after backlash: ‘I was told from backstage…'

Bollywood actor Nushrratt Bharuccha walked at Lakmé Fashion Week 2025 for NIF Global: The Runway in March. A video from the event surfaced online, showing the actor moving aside a fellow model on the runway. She received significant backlash on social media. Now, in an interview with Yuvaa, Nushrratt has finally addressed the incident. (Also Read: Nushrratt Bharuccha on casual sexism in film world: If I'm being told this isn't your place, sometimes I have to shut up) The video in question showed Nushrratt making space for herself in the centre of the ramp by moving aside another model. As she reached the end of the ramp, where the models were posing, Nushrratt moved aside a girl, and the two smiled at each other. Moments later, she asked two other girls to stand beside her, completely blocking the previous model from view. The clip sparked criticism of Nushrratt's conduct on the runway, with many accusing her of 'showing attitude'. Responding to the backlash and explaining her actions, Nushrratt said, "She wasn't even a model—she was one of the designers, one of the children from the NIF class, who didn't know about ramp shows or centre stage. What was I supposed to do? She was standing in the centre, there was loud music, and I was told from backstage, 'Please make your space and take your position.' So how do I make space? Forget being a showstopper—any model who walks knows that you walk to centre stage, then turn and walk back. That's basic." A post shared by Instant Bollywood (@instantbollywood) Meanwhile, Nushrratt was last seen in Vishal Furia's horror film Chhorii 2. Produced by Bhushan Kumar, Krishan Kumar, Vikram Malhotra, and Jack Davis, the film is a sequel to Chhorii (2021), and also features Soha Ali Khan, Gashmeer Mahajani, and Saurabh Goyal in key roles. While Soha and Nushrratt were praised for their performances, the lack of jump scares disappointed some fans. The film is available to watch on Prime Video. Nushrratt has yet to announce her next project.

Vir Das Calls Out ‘Film People' Who Are ‘Upset' With Influencers At Cannes 2025

Last Updated: Vir Das has come out in support of influencers and penned an elaborate note on social media. Actor-comedian Vir Das has sparked a debate online after calling out Bollywood personalities for criticising influencers at the Cannes Film Festival. His comments on the film industry's 'hypocrisy' have divided public opinion. According to the comedian, some people have been critical of influencers gracing the Cannes 2025 red carpet, particularly artists who don't think they belong on the French Riviera. Now, Vir Das has come out in their support and penned an elaborate note on his social media handle. The Delhi Belly actor, in his post, admitted that he never thought he would be defending the influencers, but some 'film' people's 'elitism was off the hook". Acknowledging that walking the Cannes red carpet brought exposure, specifically for those working with lesser-known designers, Das said, 'I get the appeal and eyeballs a red carpet brings." He stated that he respects the 'hustle' it takes to reach that stature. He added walking down the red carpet may not be his cup of tea, but he 'respects the underdog energy'. View this post on Instagram A post shared by Vir Das (@virdas) Taking a jab at the 'hypocrisy' of the film industry, Das said those miffed with influencers being at Cannes 2025 should cease appearing on their podcasts or working with them to market their films. He likened the discomfort of the 'film people' with influencers being in their domain to one that the audience feels listening to celebrities talk about their mundane habits on influencer platforms. The comedian concluded his post saying influencers may not be 'conventionally attractive' like celebrities or as 'well-dressed', but they could be 'more interesting' than the celebrities. The internet had mixed reactions to his hot take on influencers at Cannes 2025. Many praised Das for addressing the issue. Nikhil Taneja, founder of youth media channel Yuvaa, agreed with the Go Goa Gone actor's views. Another user commented, 'Why is he always the 'someone who said it' guy!?" However, some countered him, saying that the Cannes festival is hosted to honour the best of global cinema and the influencers walking the red carpet shift attention to fashion, designer wear, etc, instead. The netizen added that if they are there (Cannes) to show off their outfits, then 'it is not worth influencing'. This is not the first time Vir Das has taken a dig at Cannes. He previously joked he would not attend the festival this year due to its updated dress code, quipping that his planned outfit—a 78-foot-long nude gown—was now banned. First Published:

What Rhea Chakraborty Told Apoorva Mukhija After India's Got Talent Row, Reveals Social Media Star

New Delhi: Social media star Apoorva Mukhija recently faced intense scrutiny and backlash following her comments on the show India's Got Talent. In a recent interview with Yuvaa, the influencer revealed that amidst the trolling and even death threats, she spoke with actor Rhea Chakraborty—someone who had undergone a similar experience after the death of actor Sushant Singh Rajput. In her conversation with Yuvaa, Apoorva shared the constant security concerns she faced during the controversy. "Ganesh didn't let me step out without four bouncers and a driver. Even at the airport, I had a bouncer with me. I couldn't go back home for six to seven days because people knew my address. I was getting pictures of my building saying, 'We know where you live.' I cried every day. My mooh-boli sister Suman Didi was supposed to attend a wedding, but I had to cancel a fake award show appearance and rush back from Jaipur to Delhi. I was terrified." She said she video-called Rhea Chakraborty, believing she would understand what she was going through. 'I spoke to her on a video call for an hour. She got it. She knew what I was going through.' Apoorva also revealed that she wanted to publicly acknowledge the controversy but was advised to stay silent. 'I talk about everything, right? But people told me—if you speak now, they'll twist your words, and it'll start another media cycle. I had no choice but to stay silent.' She went on to discuss how the situation affected her professional life: 'I didn't realize how much I loved working until I couldn't. I hadn't taken a day off in years—always vlogging, creating, thinking of brand posts. And suddenly, it was all gone. I lost so much business. Brands said it wasn't a good time to be associated. In one second, everything disappeared.' Rhea Chakraborty also faced intense media scrutiny in 2020 when she was accused of abetment of suicide following the death of her then-boyfriend, actor Sushant Singh Rajput.

Tearful Apoorva Mukhija says people sent her mother rape and death threats after India's Got Latent controversy, dad stood by her

Social media influencer Apoorva Mukhija, aka The Rebel Kid, was embroiled in a controversy following her appearance on Samay Raina's India's Got Latent. Her comments against a contestant made her the target of online hate. The incident even forced her to remove all her posts from Instagram, in addition to causing her financial harm. However, the damage was not limited to her and her career, but it also reached her parents. In a recent interview on the YouTube channel Yuvaa, Apoorva Mukhija recalled how the trolls found her parents' accounts, and flooded them with abuse. She said, 'I was not relevant enough to be part of this scandal first of all. I was like I have the least amount of followers on the table, so stop it. It was a lot. People found my parents' account. My mom's account was public. My mom got a lot of 'R' words and rape threats and slut shaming.' Three days later, when Apoorva called her brother, she realised her mother was not keeping well post the controversy. 'I called my brother, I was like, 'Ghar pe sab kuch theek hai?' He told me mom's BP is around 180/120. I googled it and realised it was like an SOS. She could have gotten a heart attack, and then he told me about all the comments she received. I freaked out and asked, 'How did mummy react?' He said, 'Mom just wrote I am very proud of my daughter and then she disabled her comments.' That really hurt me because I wanted to do a lot of things for my mom.' Speaking about her dad, an emotional Apoorva shared, 'My dad, while we were growing up, always said 'samaj mein izzat rehni chahiye (we should be respected by the society).' I just felt like, in a second, he lost all of that. He always told me 'Gaali mat diya karo, videos mat banao…' and everything he was scared of came true, and I put them through all of that and they didn't complain even once. So I felt that this was not the cost to pay.' In the same interview, Apoorva Mukhija shared that her rebellious attitude has a lot to do with her childhood and the kind of environment she grew up in. 'I started abusing because my dad said 'girls can't abuse.'' She shared how these biases rules made her question things and do everything opposite to what she is being taught. 'He never said 'koi bhi gaali nahi dega (nobody can abuse)'. My dad was against girls being an actor or model. They saw it as a really dark place.' She also addressed the rumours of her not being on good terms with her parents, especially her dad. She shared, 'It is not like my dad ever said anything incorrect, he was right in some ways. But there was always a gap between how he communicated and how I saw things. He used to be like, 'Don't leave the house', 'don't wear a certain type of clothing' as these are your years to focus on studies. And he was not wrong. But, life is not so unidimensional. You are doing a bunch of stuff at the same time. We just never saw eye to eye on anything and we just never took out the time to understand what the other person in trying to say. For him, I was always the child who disrespected him and didn't listen to him. For me, he was always the villain arc.' Apoorva shared that her perspective on her relationship with her father changed after the Samay Raina controversy. 'When this entire fiasco happened, I was all over the news and I didn't have the guts to tell my parents that this is what has happened. I can't go and tell them 'maine gaali dediya'. My dad just texted me one message. He was like: 'No matter whatever happens, I am always standing with you.' And suddenly all of that happened in the past didn't matter. Even my closest friend didn't write that.' Apoorva joked, 'Now, I can't say anything against my dad. He has taken all my content away from him.'
