Arsenal 'tell 15-year-old wonderkid that he will be part of Mikel Arteta's first-team squad next season and will travel on pre-season tour'
Arsenal have told a hugely talented 15-year-old that he will be part of the first-team squad next season. The youngster has made a significant impact in training sessions with the senior team and has also frequently caught the eye at youth level. This week the prospect is set to be in action for England at the Under-17 European Championship. Mikel Arteta has given opportunities to academy products Myles Lewis-Skelly and Ethan Nwaneri this season. It is hoped that this prospect will also be able to make the step up in the near future. The club have also decided that the youngster will be involved in Arsenal's pre-season tour of Asia, which will include games against AC Milan, Newcastle and Tottenham. As reported by The Mirror, Max Dowman is set to be promoted to the senior squad, with the starlet seen as one of Arsenal's best ever youngsters. Despite technically being an Under-15 player this season Dowman was involved for the club's Under-18 side on a full-time basis and often captained the team. In total he scored 15 goals in 15 league games for the Under-18s this season, while he also provided five assists. Furthermore, Dowman became the youngest ever player in Premier League 2 history when he featured for Arsenal Under-21s as a substitute against Brighton in December 2024 at the age of 14. He also found the net for the Gunners' Under-19 team against Atalanta in the UEFA Youth League, becoming the youngest ever scorer in that competition. A superb dribbler who frequently drags his team forwards, Dowman mainly plays as an attacking midfielder but can also be used on the right wing. The youngster is very strong physically for his age, although he is frequently fouled by opponents. Dowman has trained with the Arsenal first-team on many occasions over the past year and is now preparing to step up to the senior squad. Prior to that he is focused on matters with England Under-17s, who kick off their European Championship campaign against Belgium on Tuesday. Arteta has previously indicated that he would have given Dowman opportunities in the first-team this season had he been eligible. From next season Dowman will technically be an Under-16 player, which means that he can feature in the Premier League. However, he will not be able to be selected in the Champions League until he turns 16 on December 31.
