Kane enjoying 'special feeling' as Bayern advance at Club World Cup
Harry Kane hugs Bayern Munich coach Vincent Kompany at the end of the German side's 2-1 win against Boca Juniors on Friday (PATRICIA DE MELO MOREIRA) Bayern Munich's England striker Harry Kane said Friday he is relishing the Club World Cup's "special" atmosphere and is confident the German team can now go all the way. Kane scored the opener for Bayern in a 2-1 win over Argentina's Boca Juniors at Hard Rock Stadium that took his side through to the last 16. Advertisement He said it had been a tough challenge in the heat and humidity of South Florida. "There's something special about these World Cup games and next year will be the same," he said with a nod to the 2026 World Cup. "When you come off that pitch and you're sweating and you're dripping and you're cramping and you've given everything on the pitch. There's a special feeling inside, especially when you win. That's what we had today." Boca responded to Kane's opener through Miguel Merentiel, but Michael Olise sealed the win six minutes from time. "Really tough game. I thought the first half was really good, I mean we probably should have been 2 or 3-0 up. They hung in the game and the second half made it more difficult," said Kane, who acknowledged the incredible support of more than 55,000 Boca fans in the 63,587 crowd. Advertisement "I mean it felt like an away game out there for sure, their fans were really loud. It was a great experience to play in front of them and I think that's what makes the win even more special, because it feels like a good away win," he said. "So we're really happy, really pleased and we'll sleep well tonight." Bayern's win was the first for a European team against South American opposition in the tournament and Kane said he was enjoying pitting himself against opponents European clubs rarely face. "I think it's great to experience different teams and I think you've seen in this tournament already, the South American teams especially have caused big problems for some of the European teams. Advertisement "So it shows how big football is worldwide and how good some of these players are. You have to be ready for the next game, the next opportunity. So yeah, I'm loving this tournament so far and hopefully we're going to be here for a while," he said. Kane added that he was confident Bayern had a real chance to win the competition. "I think we have a good opportunity. We started the tournament really well. I think the style we play is difficult for any team." sev/as

Colorado's Jordan Seaton Turning Heads with Stunning Transformation
Colorado's Jordan Seaton Turning Heads with Stunning Transformation originally appeared on Athlon Sports. At 360 pounds, Jordan Seaton arrived in Boulder as a mountain of a man, raw, powerful, and full of promise. Now, just a year later, he's something entirely different: refined, explosive, and arguably the most physically prepared lineman in Deion Sanders' revamped Colorado Buffaloes locker room. Advertisement The transformation isn't just noticeable, it's undeniable. After shedding over 50 pounds under the watchful eye of strength and conditioning coach Andreu Swasey, Seaton now checks in at 305 pounds. He's leaner. He's faster. And as recent footage from Thee Pregame Show revealed, he's already in game shape, in June. 'You got to be able to do things that a person your size can't do,' Seaton said in the footage. 'You've got to do the little things better.' And he's doing just that. Blowing Past Defensive Ends in Sprints In a workout session captured earlier this month, Seaton didn't just complete three consecutive 200-yard sprints, he won them. That's not a typo. At over 300 pounds, Seaton outran lighter defensive ends in back-to-back-to-back long sprints, stunning observers and even his coaches. Advertisement The visual was jarring: the former five-star lineman, once considered too heavy to keep up, now leading from the front. Literally. A Vocal Leader Filling the Void With several veterans departing after the 2024 season, the Buffaloes' locker room needed a new voice. Seaton has stepped up. Whether it's breaking down huddles or pushing teammates in drills, he's emerged as a cornerstone of the team's culture shift. 'Expectation starts within yourself,' Seaton said of a preseason meeting with Swasey. 'We set an expectation that we want to be number one.' That self-belief is contagious, and visible. Coaches say Seaton has become the type of player who raises the bar for everyone around him. Colorado Buffaloes left tackle, Jordan Seaton Stronger, Smarter, Sharper Don't let the weight loss fool you, Seaton hasn't sacrificed power for speed. He's not just leaner physically, he's sharper mentally, more intentional with every rep. Advertisement And with Colorado's offensive line under heavy scrutiny following a revolving door at the other spots on the line, Seaton's offseason grind isn't just admirable. It's essential. Jordan Seaton isn't just ready, he's next. A sophomore with a senior's mindset, Seaton is now a foundational figure in Coach Prime's blueprint. His transformation is already rewriting narratives in Boulder. And if his words are any indication, he's not done. 'I don't want to lose to nobody, but I also want to run my own race.' Colorado fans, keep your eyes on No. 77. The big man is just getting started. 📊 What the stats say from Bayern's narrow CWC win over Boca
📊 What the stats say from Bayern's narrow CWC win over Boca Bayern Munich and Boca Juniors clashed in a gripping FIFA Club World Cup Group C encounter, with Vincent Kompany's men edging out the iconic Argentine club with a 2‑1 win. Goals from Harry Kane (18') and Michael Olise (84') on either side of a potential goal of the tournament effort from Miguel Merentiel sealed all three points on the night. Advertisement Despite the favourable scoreline for the Bundesliga behemoth, a deeper dive into the underlying data reveals both dominance as well as unexpected resistance. Here's what the stats say from the entertaining night in South Florida. Expected Goals Imbalance - Bayern's underlying numbers showcased their attacking potency. With an xG hitting 4.57 compared to a mere 0.67 from Boca, the right club won simply by the data. Such a large xG gap reflects the imbalance in chance creation: Bayern crafted high-quality opportunities throughout, whereas Boca relied on a moment of individual brilliance from Miguel Merentiel to break through in a moment indicative of the overall tactical approach from Miguel Ángel Russo. It would ultimately not be enough to snuff out Kompany's men. Advertisement Possession and Passing - The Bavarians controlled the midfield with a commanding 72.6 % possession share—a testament to the tactical approach and ball dominance that we typically see from them, and why Russo was happy to try to hit them on the break. Bayern also piled up over 600 total passes while completing 93% compared to Boca's 73% and a paltry 27.4 % possession. While most clubs have to revert to being direct against Bayern, Boca lacked creativity when it mattered. Shots and Shots on Target - Bayern attempted 11 shots, with 4 finding the target. Boca registered 6 shots, 3 on target. This relatively respectable efficiency from Boca reflects their opportunistic counter‑attacks—half of their shots were on frame, including the equaliser by Merentiel. Meanwhile, Bayern's ratio (36 % on target) hints at less composure in front of goal than their xG would suggest, and when added to their six big chances on the night, they fell short of their usual goalscoring ways. The stats reveal a tale of two halves for Boca Juniors: a disciplined, reactive performance, grounded in efficiency and resilience. Bayern, by contrast, delivered midfield dominance and creative output, yet didn't translate dominance into a high-scoring display, highlighted by five big chances missed on the night. Advertisement Bayern's expected goals and possession supremacy may have secured three points, but if they hope to go deeper into the tournament and possibly come out at the other end as overall winners, converting chances clinically will be key. 📸 Megan Briggs - 2025 Getty Images
