Vivo X Fold 5 launching on June 25: Everything to know about the Samsung Galaxy Z Fold 7 rival

It's going to be an intense foldable rivalry in the month of July. Not only is the Vivo X Fold 5, the successor to the X Fold 3 from last year, rumoured to release on July 10, but the Samsung Galaxy Z Fold 7 is also tipped to launch on the same date. We've already done a bunch of stories around the Galaxy Z Fold 7, so we won't delve into that here. Instead, let's turn our focus to the Vivo X Fold 5. As of now, the phone is expected to launch in India sometime in July, while the official China launch has been confirmed for June 25 at 7 PM local time. Here's everything you need to Vivo hasn't dropped any official teaser for India, the phone has already taken the internet by storm in China. Its product page is live on Vivo's official Chinese website, and pre-orders have begun. Interestingly, last year's X Fold 3 series had two models — standard and Pro — but only the X Fold 3 Pro came to India. This year, it seems like Vivo is starting with just one model — the standard X Fold 5. That said, we'll have to wait for June 25 to see if a Pro variant also makes an coming to what the device offers — a lot of the key details have already been shared by Vivo's product manager, Han Boxiao, on Weibo. He has confirmed that the phone will use 8T LTPO panels on both the inner and outer screens, offering a 120Hz adaptive refresh rate and up to 4,500 nits peak brightness. Both displays are also expected to support TV Rheinland's global eye protection and Zeiss Master colour certification. Vivo claims this will deliver better clarity, comfort, and colour accuracy in all lighting conditions, compared to its The Vivo X Fold 5 also meets IP5X dust protection and an IPX9+ water resistance rating. It can reportedly be folded and unfolded 1,000 times even under a depth of 1m of water, and can keep working at temperatures as low as - key highlight is its weight and thickness. The X Fold 5 is said to be significantly slimmer and lighter than the previous model, weighing around 209g and measuring just 4.3mm when the specs front, the Vivo X Fold 5 is expected to be powered by Qualcomm's Snapdragon 8 Gen 3 processor, paired with up to 16GB RAM and 512GB storage. The camera setup is likely to include a 50-megapixel triple rear camera system, though finer details are still under wraps. The battery could be around 6,000mAh with support for 90W fast charging and 30W wireless charging — again, solid numbers for a the most surprising detail so far is that the Vivo X Fold 5 may offer support for Apple's ecosystem. According to the teasers shared on Weibo, the phone might be able to connect with the Apple Watch, access iCloud files directly, and even work with MacBooks and AirPods. If this turns out to be true, it would mark a rare moment of cross-platform compatibility — something no other Android brand has really said, the focus now remains on Vivo and how it positions the phone in terms of pricing in India. As mentioned above, the Galaxy Z Fold 7 is expected to launch around the same time, and also, it's highly unlikely that both phones will end up launching on the same date, considering these are two biggies from the smartphone industry we are talking about. However, if by even 1 per cent chance it does happen, if both the X Fold 5 and Z Fold 7 do launch on the same day, it's going to be an interesting day in smartphone history. July seems to be tuned to India Today Tech for all the latest on the upcoming foldable phones in July.

This has provided insight into the display technology it will use. Let's take a look at what the upcoming foldable from Vivo has to offer. According to the image, the Vivo X Fold 5 is expected to use advanced LTPO 8T panels on both its inner and outer screens. This level of brightness will improve screen visibility even in bright outdoor conditions. The device also features full-brightness high-frequency PWM dimming as per the shared image. This, combined with TÜV Rheinland's Global Eye Protection 3.0 certification, aims to reduce eye strain during long usage sessions. Vivo has also partnered with Zeiss to tune the colour accuracy on both screens for precise and consistent colour output. Vivo X Fold 5 Design Comparison With iPhone 16 Pro Max Shows Us Its Thin Frame

Last Updated: Vivo X Fold 5 launch could happen in the next few weeks and the company's latest trick is to show us the foldable and its sleek design compared to the iPhone Pro Max model. Vivo X Fold 5 launch is expected in the next few weeks and the company has started showing off its sleek design and comparing it with premium models like the iPhone 16 Pro Max. The foldables available in the market are powerful but only few of them can match the slim quotient and Vivo is planning to spice that up with the X Fold 5 model that promises to be slightly thicker than the 16 Pro Max when it is folded. The Vivo X Fold 3 got a global launch last year and showed us how foldables can offer all the features of a regular phone. The leaked visuals coming from China shows us the X Fold 5 placed next to the iPhone 16 Pro Max in both fold and opened forms. The tipster reveals that the Vivo foldable measures around 8.7mm in thickness which is just marginally higher than the 8.5mm frame of the iPhone 16 Pro Max. Even so, this will be a significant change from the 10.2mm thickness of the X Fold 3 variant, which also means the weight cuts down from 219 grams to 209 grams with the latest model. These are some impressive gains with the X Fold 5 model from Vivo, especially if earlier rumours about the foldable packing a 6,000mAh battery are true. That's not all, the new Fold is likely to feature a triple camera system with no compromises expected once again. However, Vivo is rumoured to be using the older Snapdragon 8 Gen 3 chipset for the X Fold 5 which might not please buyers but could help with lower pricing of the new model. If Vivo does manage to keep the X Fold 5 sleek, and adjust the hardware choice with a competitive price tag, the brand could finally have a product that will find more takers in the market. Make no mistake, the X Fold 3 was not a slouch by any means but people investing over a lakh will always have second thoughts about brands other than Apple and Samsung even if the hardware warrants their attention. Vivo is expected to bring the X Fold 5 along with the X200 FE models to the Indian market in the next few months and we can't wait to see how these products are priced in the region.
