Fans stunned at 5-foot-5, 270lb pro football player as video of him getting brutally tackled goes viral
An arena football kicker is going viral not because of a long field goal or a perfectly executed punt. Instead, it's because this kicker isn't your prototypical football player. Nestor 'Manny' Higuera plays for the Washington Wolfpack in the Arena Football 1 league and has gained notoriety for more than just his athletic abilities. That's because Higuera stands at 5-foot-5 and weighs 270 pounds. Those dimensions are not typically seen on a football field - and especially not on a kicker's frame. Yet, Higuera has managed to carve out a niche in professional football and has done well for himself. Higuera was filmed completing a punt for the Wolfpack in their lopsided 98-12 loss on Saturday and that spread across social media. Units are kickers too — Coach Duggs (@CoachDuggs) June 16, 2025 AF1 kicker Manny Higuera has gone viral again, but not for a stellar field goal or punt This isn't the first time that Higuera has gone viral. Back in 2021, he nailed a 46-yard game-winning field goal for NAIA-level Arizona Christian University to win their conference championship. Higuera began playing soccer growing up in Arizona when his high school's football coach offered him a spot on the team. 'When I first started, the farthest kick I kicked was like 55 (yards),' Higuera said in an appearance on The Pat McAfee Show on the back of his first viral moment years ago. 'I knew I always had the leg strength from soccer. On goal kicks, I could hit it three-fourths of the field. 'If I made good contact, I would put the ball like 10 yards away from the 18-yard box on the other side. So I always knew I had the power and the leg strength for it. 'But switching to football was a little difficult. After I got the hang of it, I was just able to kick and put the ball far.' Higuera attended kicking camps to hone his skills, leading to a successful college career where he went 20-for-24 on field goals and 67-for-72 on PATs. That led to the AF1, where he's scored 40 total points across 12 games played.

NC State men's basketball grabs top 10 transfer, Wolfpack roster nearly complete
The final pieces of N.C. State's 2025-26 men's basketball roster are falling into place. Darrion Williams, the No. 6 player in the transfer portal per 247Sports and On3, committed to the Wolfpack on Thursday night. Advertisement Williams joins the N.C. State program after spending one season at Nevada and two at Texas Tech, primarily playing at power forward. 'Thank you Tech for everything!' Williams wrote in a tweet. 'I wouldn't trade these last two years for anything. Lubbock is a second home to me and will always have a special place in my heart.' During his junior season with the Red Raiders, Williams averaged 15.1 points, 5.5 rebounds, 3.6 assists and 1.3 steals per game. He recorded a 23% assist rate. Williams shot 34% from 3-point range last season, taking a step back from his 46% 3-point rate as a sophomore. Williams made roughly 44% of his shots from the field. Though his averages dipped this past season, Williams has made clutch shots in big moments. Arguably his most important shot was a go-ahead layup in Texas Tech's overtime win over Arkansas to advance to the Elite Eight. N.C. State's Casey Morsell drives to the basket past Texas Tech's Darrion Williams during the first half of the Wolfpack's first round NCAA Tournament game on Thursday, March 21, 2024, at PPG Paints Arena in Pittsburgh, Pa. The Sacramento native — he attended high school in Las Vegaas — earned First Team All-Big 12 honors this past season and Third Team honors a year prior. He recorded 10 points, seven rebounds and six assists in the loss. He withdrew earlier this week. Williams tied for first place in the 3-point contest, but had little impact in the two scrimmages. He previously told CBS Sports' Isaac Trotter that he was focused on the combine and didn't take calls from coaches. However, Williams also said he was open to returning to school if that was the best decision for himself. Advertisement 'I'm open to it, but I wanted to be full in on the draft,' Williams said. 'I didn't want to be one foot in one foot out. If I have to go back, I'll go back, [but] I want to go through the draft [process]. It's my first time doing this.' First-year head coach Will Wade told the News & Observer last week he hoped to complete the roster by the beginning of June. With Williams' commitment, the Pack has 11 scholarship players. It currently can offer 13 full scholarships. If the House vs. NCAA settlement is approved, however, Division I teams can award a combination of full or partial scholarships to up to 15 players. The Wolfpack ranks No. 12 in the 247Sports transfer portal rankings, adding one five-star and five four-star recruits. N.C. State lands at No. 15 in the nation for overall recruiting rankings, picking up two five-star players and six four-stars.

Netflix's Fear Street: Prom Queen movie draws backlash from Fear Street book series fans: 'Disrespectful to the original trilogy'
Fear Street: Prom Queen, based on the 1992 book The Prom Queen by R. L. Stine, was released on Netflix over the weekend with much anticipation, thanks to the strong fan following of the Fear Street book series and the previously released film trilogy. Directed by Matt Palmer, the film stars India Fowler, Suzanna Son, Fina Strazza, David Iacono, Ella Rubin, Chris Klein, Ariana Greenblatt, Lili Taylor, and Katherine Waterston. Set in 1988, the story follows a masked killer targeting prom queen candidates at Shadyside High. Fear Street Part One: 1994, Fear Street Part Two: 1978, and Fear Street Part Three: 1666 were released on Netflix in 2021 on a weekly basis. While the film adaptation of the trilogy impressed fans with its mix of slasher horror and supernatural twists, this new entry has left many disappointed. What's the premise of Fear Street: Prom Queen? In 1988, Shadyside High's senior class gears up for prom, hoping to shake off the town's dark reputation. Lori Granger (India Flower), an outcast due to rumours surrounding her mother, runs for prom queen against the popular "Wolfpack," led by Tiffany Falconer (Fina Strazza). Vice Principal Brekenridge sees prom as a fresh start for the school, but the night before, candidate Christy Renault (Ariana Greenblatt) is murdered by a masked killer. On prom night, Lori arrives with her best friend Megan (Suzanna Son). A prank gone wrong creates a rift between them. Meanwhile, members of the Wolfpack and their dates are picked off one by one, Linda and Bobby are murdered, and Debbie dies in the basement. Lori receives anonymous flowers, while Tiffany taunts her about her mother's past. A dance-off ends with Lori stealing the spotlight, embarrassing Tiffany. After Tyler dumps Tiffany and flirts with Lori, he's murdered by the killer. Megan suspects the killer is Devlin, the vice principal's son, but Lori dismisses her theory. Megan discovers the bodies in the basement, and Lori narrowly escapes an attack. During the prom queen announcement, the killer strikes again, murdering students before Lori stabs him with her crown. He's revealed to be Tiffany's father, Dan Falconer. Dan is arrested, and Lori spends the night at Tiffany's, but the nightmare isn't over. Tiffany and her mother, Nancy, reveal they were also behind the killings. Nancy confesses she murdered Lori's father out of jealousy. Lori kills both Tiffany and Nancy in self-defence. As Nancy dies, her blood forms the Witch's Mark, suggesting evil still lingers. Why are fans disappointed by Fear Street: Prom Queen? Despite trending globally on Netflix, fans have voiced strong criticism against Fear Street: Prom Queen. Many took issue with the film's deviation from the original book, from character name changes to altering the killer's identity. Some felt the film took too long to get going, with many calling the first 30 minutes boring. One user wrote, "Why does Fear Street: Prom Queen not feel like Fear Street at all… It's not scary; everyone has iPhone faces, and everything they do is super cringe." why does fear street: prom queen not feel like fear street at all… it's not scary, everyone has iphone faces and everything they do is super cringe 😭😭😭 Another added, "Fear Street Prom Queen was so bad at making their characters distinguishable bc how did I JUST find out Tiffany's dad was a teacher in the high school."
