1 2 Bhubaneswar: CM Mohan Charan Majhi on Friday made a commitment to Prime Minister Narendra Modi that Odisha will contribute significantly to the nation's development by 2047, aligning with the PM's Purvodaya vision. Modi was in the city to grace the first anniversary of the BJP govt in Odisha. "Our goal is to transform Odisha into a major industrial hub in eastern India. I am fully confident that under your (PM Modi's) guidance, 'Purvodaya' vision will certainly be achieved in Odisha," Majhi said. Praising the Operation Sindoor initiative, Majhi said, "People were earlier saying, Modi hai to mumkin hai. Now people are saying Modi hai to desh surakshit hai." Acknowledging Modi's leadership in advancing national growth across sectors, Majhi noted Odisha's substantial progress over the past year. He referenced the state's evolving role in India's development, as outlined in the Vision Document 2036 and 2047, which Modi unveiled. Odisha targets a $500 billion economy by 2036 and a $1.5 trillion economy by 2047," Majhi said, adding, "Based on the road map prepared by the PM, our state will become prosperous, and the country will become a developed India." Majhi said that within 140 days, the state govt executed several investment MoUs, launching 56 enterprises with investments totalling about Rs 1.80 lakh crore. "Under your (PM's) guidance, we have been working tirelessly every moment for the service of the people of Odisha for the past year. Our programmes continue uninterrupted, keeping in mind the four groups you mentioned — the poor, farmers, women, and youth. In our govt's first year, we have achieved many milestones," Majhi said. Majhi emphasised successful implementation of various schemes including Rs 800 as additional input assistance on paddy purchase, CM Kisan, Subhadra Yojna, Lakhpati Didi, integrated Ayushman Bharat-Pradhan Mantri Jan Arogya Yojana and Gopabandhu Jan Arogya Yojana, Godabarish Mishra model primary school scheme, Madho Singh Haath Kharcha scheme, Viksit Gaon Viksit Odisha Yojana, Mukhyamantri Kanya Vivah Yojana, Shri Jagannath Darshan Yojana and Mukhyamantri Kamdhenu Yojana. "Our govt has organised 10 employment fairs thus far, providing jobs to 28,346 young men and women," Majhi said.

Security reviewed for PM's visit on June 20
Bhubaneswar: Ahead of Prime Minister Narendra Modi's one-day visit to Bhubaneswar on June 20, two high-level meetings were held here on Tuesday to review preparedness for the event. Security officials held a meeting at Biju Patnaik International Airport (BPIA) in Bhubaneswar, while Chief Secretary Manoj Ahuja took stock of the preparedness at the State secretariat Lok Seva Bhawan. Senior ministers Suresh Pujari and Bibhuti Bhusan Jena inspected the Janata Maidan, the venue where Modi is scheduled to address a public meeting. 'We are prepared to welcome the Prime Minister. Apart from holding a roadshow and participate in a Triranga Yatra, the Prime Minister will also launch projects worth Rs 17,000 crore for Odisha,' Pujari told reporters. All arrangements were made for the attendance of over a lakh people at the gathering. Pujari said various cultural troupes will perform on the roadside between the airport and Janata Maidan. As per the schedule discussed in the meeting chaired by the Chief Secretary, the Prime Minister will depart from Kushinagar Airport in Uttar Pradesh at 2.05 pm on June 20 and reach Bhubaneswar Airport at 3.40 pm. The Prime Minister will then join a roadshow and reach the venue at 4.15 pm. He will return to Biju Patnaik International Airport at 5.50 pm. Thereafter, he will attend a mega public event at Janata Maidan. During the event, Modi will also unveil Odisha's 'Vision Document' and also launch several development and welfare schemes of the State government, an official said. Bhubaneswar DCP Jagmohan Meena told reporters that the meeting regarding security arrangements for the Prime Minister's visit was held in the presence of the SPG.

Hyderabad: Chief Minister A Revanth Reddy, while assuring all the required support for the cine industry, said that the Telangana's Vision Document could include a separate chapter on cine industry. Hence, he urged the cine industry's eminent personalities to come up with proposals for transforming Hyderabad into a global hub of the industry. Addressing a colourful gathering at the first Gaddar film awards function, Revanth Reddy, while underscoring the potential of the Telugu film industry, urged directors like Rajamouli to help make Hyderabad the top destination for filmmakers of not only Bollywood but also Hollywood. He asked the state Film Development Corporation chairman Dil Raju to come up with plans towards shaping the Vision of 2047, while emphasising the industry's potential and possible contribution to the State's development. 'As Telangana's Vision 2047 is aimed at $ 3 trillion economy and $ 1 trillion economy by 2035, we have to give priority to including the development of the cinema industry. Hyderabad should become the hub of best movies at the global level. We are ready to support, and you should plan to include ideas so that the Vision Document includes a separate chapter,' he said. The Chief Minister clarified that the State government had always remained supportive of the industry and sometimes 'harsh decisions' were inevitable. However, these awards proved that the government recognised and appreciated the artistes and the film industry. While stressing the need for Hyderabad's growth on par with global cities, Revanth Reddy pointed out that out of the Fortune 500 companies, the City housed offices for 85 companies which cannot be undermined. He reiterated that Hyderabad's competition was with global cities and urged the industry to come forward with their proposals. The Chief Minister said that Telangana was inspired by artistes like Gaddar and Ande Sri whose songs continued to arouse the generations of Telangana.

Maharashtra allows disciplinary notices via email, WhatsApp in digital push
The Maharashtra government, through an official notification, directed that in cases of indiscipline by any government employee or officer, notices for action and other necessary documents should be served to the concerned employee via email and WhatsApp. The government permitted disciplinary notices to be sent via email and WhatsApp, alongside the existing registered post method. The move aimed to streamline administrative communication and accelerate official procedures, particularly in cases of misconduct or disciplinary action against government employees or officers. The General Administration Department (GAD) issued the official circular yesterday, stating that digital platforms can now be used to send notices, related documentation, and other official communication in cases of government disciplinary proceedings. The circular stated, "In case of any official indiscipline by any government employee or officer, notice for action and other necessary documentation can be sent to the concerned employee via email and WhatsApp." However, the traditional practice of serving notices through registered post has not been discontinued. The circular added that notices will also be served via registered post, making it a dual-mode delivery system to ensure the communication reaches the recipient effectively. This decision came in the backdrop of the government's larger vision of administrative reform and development under "Developed Maharashtra - 2047," a part of India's broader vision of becoming a developed nation by 2047. As part of this mission, the Maharashtra government launched an extensive 150-day programme from May 6 to October 2, 2025, aimed at finalising a comprehensive Vision Document for Maharashtra's growth. The initiative aligned with national goals, such as a $5 trillion economy by 2025-26, while also setting state-specific targets for infrastructure, agriculture, industry, education, health, and urban development. To prepare this Vision Document, the state appointed sectoral groups, coordinators, and external experts across 16 departments, including agriculture, education, health, environment, and urban planning. The government also planned state-wide surveys to gather citizens' feedback and aspirations for Maharashtra's future. The Vision Document will be finalised by October 2, 2025, and will lay down short-term, medium-term, and long-term developmental goals up to 2047, marking India's centenary of independence. Meanwhile, the Planning Department of Maharashtra, led by Chief Minister Devendra Fadnavis, issued a Government Resolution (GR) asking all state departments to prepare a vision document titled "Developed Maharashtra 2047." This will be on the lines of the Union Government's scheme of Viksit Bharat 2047 as outlined by Prime Minister Narendra Modi. Chief Minister Devendra Fadnavis has set 150 days from May 6 to October 2 to prepare the document, which will primarily focus on a phase-wise vision. The first phase includes a long-term vision or plan for developing Maharashtra by 2047. The midterm phase includes vision or plans to prepare a plan for Maharashtra 2035, when the state will complete its 75 years of its foundation. The third phase includes a short-term plan to prepare a vision document for October 2029, when the present government will complete its five-year term.

BJP Year 1: Mega rallies to music festivals, party gets ready to celebrate anniversary of Odisha win
Though not entirely unexpected, the BJP's Odisha win last June, dislodging the Naveen Patnaik-led Biju Janata Dal (BJD) government after almost a quarter of a century, marked one of the biggest shifts in the country's political landscape in recent years. Now, the party is preparing to mark one year in office and unveil its roadmap for the next decade by launching a fortnight-long outreach comprising an extensive media blitzkrieg, four mega conventions, and cultural extravaganzas. At the recent NITI Aayog Governing Council meeting, Chief Minister Mohan Charan Majhi said an Odisha Vision document would be unveiled on June 12, when his administration completes a year. Top state government sources said Prime Minister Narendra Modi had been invited to grace the occasion. The roadmap to 2036 is important since it marks Odisha's centenary. 'The Odisha Vision document is a comprehensive, actionable and inclusive report with suggestions received from over 3,20,000 people of the state through an online portal and analysed using AI. The Vision Document will be launched on June 12, and I will be personally monitoring its implementation,' Majhi said, adding that the aspiration is to grow the state's economy to $500 billion by 2036 and $1.5 trillion by 2047. The BJP has prepared a narrative to counter whatever the BJD comes up with. 'Our message will be loud and clear. It's about good governance and pro-people policies. We will reach out to the masses with a message on how the works, which couldn't be done in the past 24 years, have been achieved in the past one year,' said a senior BJP leader. The party will highlight, among other things, the 'successful implementation' of Subhadra, a cash-transfer scheme covering around 1 crore women, and the sanctioning of Rs 8,00 per quintal over and above the minimum support price (MSP) for paddy. These were two of its poll promises that received a lot of traction on the ground ahead of the elections. The BJP has also underlined its commitment to social justice by announcing 11.25% reservation for the backward classes in education. The Majhi government is also expected to highlight the launch of the central Ayushman Bharat health scheme, which the BJD had avoided, and the opening of the Puri Jagannath temple's Ratna Bhandar (treasure trove). 'We have also made governance accessible to all by breaking the barrier between the government and the people. The CM and his Cabinet have not just been holding the grievance redress cell meetings regularly, but also taking it to the far-off districts, considered to be neglected areas. During BJD rule, the CM last attended the grievance meeting in August 2008,' said the BJP leader. With the BJP having promised to fill 1.5 lakh government vacancies in five years, the Majhi government has increased the upper age limit for entry into various government services (non-uniform services) from 32 to 42 years. To take its message to people, the BJP has planned four big rallies in different parts of the state, starting with a public meeting in Bhubaneswar, where the government will unveil 365 projects to mark its first anniversary. Several Union Ministers, senior BJP functionaries, and CMs of BJP-ruled states are expected to attend these rallies in Berhampur (focused on women), Bargarh (for farmers), Dhenkanal (for the youth), and Baripada (for tribals). The party is set to kickstart these celebrations starting June 5 with four intellectual meetings focused on journalists, civil society, industry leaders, and public representatives, according to sources. To amplify its message, the government has also decided to deploy campaign vehicles, called Vikas Raths, in all 314 blocks of the state for around a month. Several cultural activities such as theatre, musical festivals, and a student competition on the subject 'Mo Swapna Ra Odisha (Odisha in my dream)' have also been planned, according to BJP insiders. The Opposition, however, is preparing to puncture holes in the ruling party's narrative, pointing out that most of the work it is taking credit for had been completed by the previous government. The Majhi government recently admitted in the Assembly that two dozen schemes of the previous government had been renamed. Targeting the Majhi government, the BJD and the Congress have labelled it a 'remote-control government' for its alleged dependence on New Delhi and are preparing their own outreach initiatives. This is an attempt to turn the tables on the ruling party, which had cornered the BJD over the alleged influence of former IAS officer V K Pandian over then CM Naveen Patnaik in the months leading up to the elections. Majhi has faced difficulty in appointing the heads of various corporations and public sector units, apart from filling six vacancies in his council of ministers. Senior BJD leader Arun Sahoo said the party would reach out to people to highlight the failures of the BJP government on multiple fronts, including a deteriorating law-and-order situation, crime against women, 'misleading' people on the backward classes quota in education, and corruption at the grassroots.
