Chelsea's Andrey Santos ‘looking forward' to fan reception from former rivals Flamengo
Chelsea midfielder Andrey Santos says he is looking forward to the hostile reception he is likely to receive from Flamengo fans during the Club World Cup match on Friday. Santos joined Chelsea from Flamengo's local rivals Vasco de Gama in January 2023, having helped the club where he played his entire youth career achieve promotion from the Brazilian second division in 2022-23. He then returned on loan for the remainder of 2023-24, helping them to consolidate in the top flight before making his permanent move to Europe. Advertisement Flamengo's rivalry with Vasco is one of the biggest in Brazilian football, with matches known as the Classico dos Milhoes (Derby of Millions), referencing their respective large fan followings in Rio de Janeiro state. Santos is keenly aware of how much importance the FIFA Club World Cup carries for the Brazilian clubs participating, and fully expects to be a target for the passionate Flamengo fans in attendance at Lincoln Financial Field. 'It's hard because I played for Flamengo's rival, so of course when I'm on the pitch they're probably not going to say nice things about me!' he said. 'It's probably going to happen but it's football, it's normal for me. I'm looking forward to it. 'Flamengo and Vasco da Gama is like Argentina and Brazil. It's a big derby so we have to improve in this game, but I'm so happy to play against Flamengo again.' Speaking to ESPN Brasil, he added: 'The pressure is great. I receive a lot of messages from Vasco fans on Instagram, there is also pressure from my friends, from my father, so I think I am under a lot of pressure regarding the result, but I hope everything goes well. 'Everyone is asking for a victory, my father is also very critical, he asked for a goal against Flamengo. If I have the opportunity, to do everything to come out victorious and, God willing, to be able to score a goal.' (Robbie Jay Barratt – AMA/Getty Images)

Dimitri Payet charged with ‘psychological violence' against ex who accused him of forcing her to ‘drink own urine'
FORMER West Ham star Dimitri Payet faces trial after being accused of "sexual, physical and psychological violence" against his ex-girlfriend. Brazilian prosecutors have charged the ex-France midfielder, 38, with abusing 28-year-old lawyer Larissa Ferrari. 3 3 Payet hit 15 goals in 60 Hammers appearances and was their 2015-16 player of the season. The married dad-of-four joined Brazilian club Vasco da Gama in 2023 and went on to form a relationship with local woman Larissa. Rio de Janeiro prosecutors allege he took advantage of her vulnerability to start the relationship, then caused her "psychological and emotional harm" including being violent. Police initially closed their inquiry but prosecutors reopened the case after an appeal by Larissa and have now pressed charges. Payet has been accused of causing her emotional damage through "hurtful and degrading expressions, humiliation, manipulation and mockery". Larissa made allegations to The Sun on Sunday in April that Payet had forced her to film degrading films, drink her own urine and water from the toilet, and lick the floor. She also claimed she had to take part in a fake wedding and wear a ring to 'prove her love'. Payet is said to have told Brazilian police everything between him and Larissa was consensual. 3 Documents from the country's Public Ministry say the couple met online and shared a mutual interest in sexual relations involving "acts of daringness and violence". The official report states Larissa suffered depression as a result of Payet's behaviour towards her. Her lawyers said: "This measure shows that the authorities are aware of the seriousness of the facts. "They are minded to make sure that behaviours that harm women's dignity do not go unpunished - no matter how high-profile the suspect may be." The footballer, whose Vasco contract was torn up earlier this month, could have to pay a huge fine and the costs of Larissa's medical treatment if the accusations against him are found to be true. Payet's lawyer Sheila Lustoza said: "I'm surprised the case has been reopened, as it is based on information that was already out there. "But I am confident that the legal system will recognise my client's innocence." Payet left West Ham for Marseille in a £25million deal in January 2017 after falling out of favour with Hammers fans. The set-piece expert, who has 38 caps, pushed for a transfer after claiming he was homesick.

Dimitri Payet 'charged with 'psychological violence against ex-mistress', who accused the former West Ham star of forcing her to 'film bizarre sex acts' and 'drink her own urine'
Ex-Premier League star Dimitri Payet has reportedly been charged with 'psychological violence' against his former 'mistress', Brazilian lawyer Larissa Natalya Ferrari. The case against the 38-year-old has initially been dismissed by prosecutors in Rio de Janerio, however, according to Globo Esporte, following an appeal, he has been indicted. Earlier this year, Ferrari alleged that she was forced to drink her own urine and lick the floor during a turbulent seven-month affair. Last month, Brazilian outlet G1 claimed to have obtained a document with details of the case in which the lawyer attested to suffering from borderline personality disorder, believing Payet - whose contract with Rio de Janeiro-based Vasco da Gama was terminated 10 days ago - took advantage of her condition. 'Dimitri knew about my passion and psychological problems, using this against me,' she is reported to have said by G1. 'Dimitri convinced me to put my head in the trash, in the toilet, made me drink my own urine and other sexual bizarre acts.' The Frenchman was reportedly heard at the Women's Assistance Police Station where he admitted to having a relationship with Ferrari but insisted every act during their union was consensual. Furthermore, Payet, who left his wife of almost 20 years Ludivine and their four children back in his homeland during his time in Brazil, was alleged to have admitted to the acts but maintained that they were consensual and proposed by Ferrari. G1's report mentioned an encounter when Ferrari 'requested slaps during sexual intercourse' and as a result, developed marks on her body. The Frenchman also reportedly claimed that the two used wooden chairs during sexual intercourse, and that, due to Ferrari's light skin, any pressure would lead to marks. It followed Ferrari's impassioned public plea for 'justice', in a statement in which she claimed to have been 'humiliated' by the 38-cap former Les Blues star. 'I want justice because he abused my psychological vulnerability to gain sexual advantage,' she told AFP. 'He demanded proof of love from me, which consisted of humiliation. 'I recorded videos in which I drank my urine, drank water from the toilet bowl, and licked the floor. I'm a lawyer, I would never have made such serious complaints lightly.' It was claimed that Payet refused Ferrari's desire to continue this relationship in France, on the condition he pay her expenses, as his time in the country approached its end. According to the player, the lawyer's behaviour changed from then on, leading to her threatening to 'expose his secrets' if he did not respond within four hours of her birthday message. Payet's lawyer Sheila Lustoza told G1: 'It is regrettable that confidential records were leaked, but the case reveals with evidence something that is very clear: a woman exercising her freedom and will, as it should be, contrary to what has been publicly narrated up until now. The defense is confident that the truth that is proven by documents will demonstrate these facts.' Payet is widely regarded as one of West Ham's most talented players this century but left under a cloud to re-join Marseille after just 18 months in 2017. He stays at the Stade Velodrome for six-and-a-half years before moving to Brazil in 2023. In March, Larissa revealed that they had had a seven-month affair. She wrote in a lengthy statement: 'One thing I want to make clear is that it was never about money. There was no need for it. 'There's not much I can say because there's no explanation or anything to justify it. 'But one thing I want to make extremely clear is that it was never for money, not before, not now. In fact, the last time I went to Rio, I went by bus.' Larissa, who is a mother of two, also claimed that she only got physically involved with the midfielder following her divorce from her ex-husband.

Premier League cult hero Dimitri Payet set to leave Brazilian side on a free transfer amid sexual assault case after being accused of forcing ex-mistress to 'drink her own urine'
Dimitri Payet has left Brazilian club Vasco da Gama on a free transfer, the club have confirmed, amid a current sexual and physical assault case against the 38-year-old. The former West Ham and France star stands accused of 'physical and psychological violence' towards his former 'mistress', Brazilian lawyer Larissa Natalya Ferrari, who was allegedly forced to drink her own urine and lick the floor during a turbulent seven-month affair. He joined the Brazilian outfit in 2023 after leaving Marseille, where he spent six years following his West Ham departure where he quickly earned himself Premier League cult icon status. While at Vasco da Gama he featured 75 times, scoring seven times and assisting 13 goals, though the club have now announced his time will come to an end. 'Vasco da Gama informs that, in an amicable manner, they have reached an agreement for the early closure of the link with midfielder Dimitri Payet. 'The club thanks the athlete for the professionalism, dedication and respect shown throughout his journey through São Januário, and wishes success in his upcoming challenges. 'For Vasco, Payet has played 77 matches, scored 8 goals and contributed 16 assists. 'Thank you, Payet.' 'Dimitri convinced me to put my head in the trash, in the toilet, made me drink my own urine and other sexual bizarre acts.' However, according to RMC Sport via Brazilian outlet Extra, the prosecutor's office is now seeking to dismiss the complaint due to a lack of evidence required to charge the 38-year-old. The report states that the plaintiff's defence has appealed the decision. Last month reports claimed that Payet had denied 'physical and psychological violence' towards his 'mistress' in a statement to Brazilian police.
