Maresca on Mudryk, the American heat and Madueke rumours
Chelsea boss Enzo Maresca has been speaking to the media before Friday's Club World Cup Group D match against Flamengo (kick-off 19:00 BST).Here are the key lines from his news conference:Maresca confirmed that he still "trusts" Mykhailo Mudryk, despite the Football Association charging the winger with violating its anti-doping rules, adding: "Misha is a Chelsea player. I trust all of my players." The last time the pair spoke was at the Europa Conference League final and the Ukrainian appeared "quite good" and "didn't seem worried", but the club are "definitely going to contact him in the coming days or week".Chelsea want to sign another winger this summer, regardless of the Mudryk added: "We've already done one entire season without him and we tried to find a solution with some of the academy players, like Tyrique [George]. We are going to go for a winger this summer because it's quite clear it's a position we need to work on."There are no new injury concerns but he will need to rotate players throughout the tournament to cope with playing "a game every three days". He added: "I'm not saying it will be 10 or 11 players each game, but four or five players for sure. We cannot play each game with the same players." When asked about how the squad is handling playing in the heat of the American summer, he responded: "It's not easy but this is also why we are trying to rotate the players. It's a problem for us, but it's also a problem for some of the other teams."Maresca believes Flamengo will be "more used to" the current their Brazilian opponents, he said: "They are a very good team, they play nice football and they have many good players. Their manager is a former player, who played for many years in Europe, so I know him. They are well organised and, like any Brazilian team, full of very good players."The players will have played 11 months of non-stop football when the Club World Cup ends, so he is trying to protect them by "training less" and "prioritising the things that are important" such as in-game explained his comments about the Club World Cup feeling like a pre-season for Chelsea, stating: "We finished our season in the Premier League and Europe, we had some days off but then we started again, so the feeling we have is of pre-season. But we know this is a big competition, so we are here to win games and go far."When asked whether the club are open to listening to offers for Noni Madueke, he was quick to shut down the rumours. He said: "Noni is our player. You can read speculation about many players at the moment, but he is our player and we consider him our player for next season as well."

Tyrique George has done enough to start up front against Nottingham Forest, says Enzo Maresca
Chelsea head coach Enzo Maresca has said he has seen enough from Tyrique George to show that he can start as a striker in Chelsea's pivotal final league game of the season. Typically deployed as a winger, George played up front in Chelsea's 1-0 win over Manchester United on Friday, with Nicolas Jackson suspended after being sent off against Newcastle United. It was his first Premier League start for the club. Advertisement The 19-year-old was forced to adapt to an unfamiliar role though Maresca was impressed with what he saw. 'Very good, very good, brave,' he said when asked after the game about George's performance. 'He was a threat in behind. It was not easy for him because on the other side you had Maguire, Lindelof, Shaw, he was fighting against important defenders. But again we tried to find a solution with a player from the academy. He also had the penalty moment so he worked well.' Marc Cucurella scored the game's only goal in the 71st minute, securing a crucial win for Chelsea in the race for Champions League qualification and moving them back up to fourth after Aston Villa had beaten Tottenham Hotspur 2-0 earlier in the day. Maresca's side visit Nottingham Forest, four points behind Chelsea with a game in hand, for a vital clash on the final day of the season. Jackson will remain suspended for the match. When asked if George had shown enough to start in the role again at the City Ground, Maresca said: 'Absolutely yes, 100 per cent.' George, a Chelsea academy graduate, made his senior debut in August 2024 in the Conference League against Servette. He has made 24 appearances for the club this season, scoring twice, with half of those games coming in the Conference League. The Blues know that victories in their final two league games will secure a top-five finish and Champions League football next they are without first-choice striker Nicolas Jackson for both games following his red card in last weekend's defeat at Newcastle. Chelsea keep Champions League hopes alive with win over Fulham

(PA/AP pic) LONDON : Pedro Neto scored in stoppage-time as Chelsea fought back to beat rivals Fulham 2-1 at Craven Cottage today and breathe life back into their quest to finish in the Premier League's top five and secure a spot in next season's Champions League. The win moves Chelsea up to fifth in the standings with 57 points, level with Nottingham Forest, who travel to Tottenham Hotspur tomorrow. Fulham remain in ninth with 48 points. Fulham went in front after 20 minutes when Chelsea captain Reece James cheaply gave away possession to Ryan Sessegnon, who squared for Alex Iwobi to fire a low shot into the bottom corner from the edge of the box. Chelsea upped the pressure in the second half and substitute Tyrique George netted from the edge of the area to equalise, before winger Neto swivelled and unleashed a thunderous effort in the 93rd minute to raucous cheers from the away fans.
